  1. Hi Maven.

My butler was Elizer and the one on the other side of the ship was Singh.

The butler also questioned why we never ordered room service. It’s just not something we do unless we have an early excursion, which was not the case on this cruise.

The only criticism of the butler was that he was more reactive than proactive. I had to ask him to replenish the soda instead of him noticing it needed to be done. He never offered to shine my shoes.

We had Eli as well - with the same observation. Never proactive, just reactive. A couple times he didn't answer his line when we called (had questions about eating at Aqua vs Luminae, nothing too taxing). And yeah, didn't replenish the pricier items (Pellegrino, Evian) when they ran out..but did keep the Fanta and gingerale full. We did get room service every morning for breakfast, and when I would ask questions of him, he seemed very distracted and in a hurry to drop the food and leave.

I'm now concerned with the comment about not getting the full perks when we checked in...we had free internet and the premium drink package and the OBC (all of these I only know because the internet worked, I ordered premium drinks, and used OBC for items), but I never thought to check to see if the prepaid gratuities were on there?

  2. We are also in line. No info from anyone. We were actually 2 hours late due to an Alamo snafu, so we are close to the end of the line. We did get water though. Not sure what we will do when we eventually have to pee. Also I suppose I can't squawk about Concierge priority check-in now, right? Fiancés first cruise, and he's not happy. :( poor start to our wedding week. Hope everyone else is faring well.

  3. When the bartender lifted up a stemmed martini glass, I said, “On the rocks, in a cocktail glass, please”. A look of consternation swept over his face.

Well, to be picky, a cocktail glass *is* a martini glass. I'd probably give you the same look if I presented you with a cocktail glass and you told me to put it in a cocktail glass. :)

    (bartender, here)

Thanks for the detailed experience review. We're sailing on the 12th, and it's nice to see some of the downsides so we aren't disappointed.

  4. The date is 12/15/15, and we hired a St. Thomas officiant to come get us from the ship, take us to the Courthouse, then take us to the beach for the ceremony. It will be first thing in the morning (my hair appointment is at 8 am and we'll be getting off the boat as soon as it's done). We'd planned on bringing beach gear with us and using the facilities on the beach to change after the ceremony, and just enjoy a beach day before catching a ride back to the ship. It's just the two of us.

Anyone else had a similar experience or planning something close? Any tips or guidance?

I feel like I'm leaving a lot up to chance because I'm unfamiliar with the location, the ship, the whole process, etc. I"m also wondering if there is a better option for us as far as something to do after the ceremony. Excursions are out because by the time the ceremony happens - most excursions will have left (and we're in wedding attire anyway). Also I feel like we should take advantage of the space on the beach we'll already have carved out for the ceremony - it's supposed to be super-busy that day with lots of ships in port.

    Thoughts from anyone?

(also..I'd like for us to wear our wedding attire to dinner that night. Would that be weird? I know we can't have steamers or irons - any ideas on how to preserve the outfits during our beach day after the ceremony so they don't get all wrinkled?)

TIA...trying to remember to breathe. :)

  5. We didn't mind the instructor for spin - its not amazing but in our opinion it was better than no instruction. What upset us was the sign up process. You can only sign up one day in advance - unless you buy a gym package. By the time we were told this (during spin class #1) every bike in every class had been booked for the cruise by people who bought the package. So we hauled our spin shoes etc with us for one class. If there is that much demand, have extra classes or get more bikes!

Hm. What's the gym package? How much was it, do you know?

It's important to me to get to the spin and TRX classes, I didn't know there was a package of some sort.
