  1. Hi All. We are doing our first cruise ever on Freedom in the Med in May 2017. The info here is great. However I am confused by the amount of bars and restaurants and cafes as to what places are free to eat in and which places are extra. Would someone be good enough to compile a little list of the free eating places please? We have the deluxe drinks package, which includes drinks up to 12 dollars each I think. Will I manage to get a cocktail for less than that price onboard?

Was also wondering if many adults do the surfrider, climbing wall and ice skating activities or is it mainly teens and young adults?

We have interior cabins on deck nine starboard side. They are 9289 and 9290. Category L. Any ideas as to how good this location is?

We have the option of My Time Dining too. Is this recommended and how does it work please?

Lots of questions there but appreciate any answers you experienced cruisers can give me. Thanks.

I have not yet been on freedom but will be in 3 weeks. The specialty dining restaurants are giovannis table, chops grille, and sabor. Ben&jerrys ice cream is an extra charge. The pizza place on he promenade is included. Most cocktails fall under he $12 limit, and I believe you only pay the difference if it is more expensive. The windjammer buffet and main dining room are included. My time dining is nice because depending on your port times you can make a different reservation each night or show up when you're ready to eat and wait for a seat.

    Hope that was helpful :-)

  2. That's awesome! Was it automatic or did they call you??

I called them asking what it would cost to upgrade. They told me promenade view for $12 or oceanview guarantee for no additional charge. They actually assigned the room just a few hours later even though she said it could be as late as 3 days before sailing. We're on the 3rd deck, but that's where we started anyways so no loss there.

  3. Theyve got 3 WEEKS to fix that bad boy.. I'm going out the 26th. Just got upgraded from interior to ocean view for FREE yesterday. Our second cruise ever, had an ocean view last time and were getting nervous to not have a window. Couldn't believe we got the upgrade for nothing. From a Q class room to H class. But I sure hope they get her running better before we go!!!!

  4. Our first cruise was to Grand Cayman and Cozumel as well. You will have a blast!

In Grand Cayman we rented jet skis to go to Sting Ray City. It is a sandbar a few miles out from shore with friendly stingrays that come right up to you. It was super cool!! If you think your kids would like something like that there are tons of private excursion companies that take boats out to the sandbar for not too much money. We also went to "Hell" where we could mail out a postcard from the Hell post office. It was an off the beaten path tourist stop, I honestly wouldn't recommend it with kids only for the fact that it was about a 30 minute ride each way on the public bus (a van full of commuters to school and work) and a cab runs about $50 each way

  5. I'm in the minority with this but we are all for getting formal! We are flying from NY to FL and will be on vacation for 2 full weeks. Did not want to be bothered with transporting a suit/shoes for him so we rented one through royal. $111 for the deluxe package & shoes and we won't have to worry about it as it will be pressed and ready by 6pm on embarkation day. We are excited to dress to the nines. :)

  6. I can't tell you how excited I am to find a WW thread on here!!!

Been doing WW since March, have lost 42 pounds since then :)

I'm 60# lighter than my cruise last September and feeling great. Feel off the WW wagon when I shattered my phone a couple weeks ago but finally have my house restocked for success. We embark in 39 days and I'm hoping to lose another 10# before we go.

My lovely boss switched me from night shift (2 + years) to a month of evenings, back to nights for a month, and next week i go back to evenings permanently. Hasn't been helpful in maintaining my routine at all but in one month of evenings I lost 15# so hoping to come close to repeating that in the final month before we sail.

For reference we are on Royal Caribbean Freedom of the Seas November 26-December 4.
