  1. When I've been on 14 nights I've always had a drinks package, mostly due to not having to worry about the cost of drinking because you never know how you're going to feel.

I am not a big drinker at home and probably only drink about 4 times a year. But when I'm on holiday I enjoy having cocktails etc, when they're spaced throughout the day and mixed with all the food you're eating, you never really feel like you've had too much alcohol. Depending on what you drink you normally only need about 4 or 5 drinks to offset the cost of the package which is quite easily done when spaced throughout the day.

  2. I don't think I have a disorder... but often in crowds I feel like a just hate people. Even when they're not massive crowds. For example when you're waiting for a lift when it's kicking out time at the theatre. I hate clothes shopping or anything like that because when there are small aIsles and annoying people brush up against you or come to close to you it really winds me up. Wow I sound so miserable!

Anyway that being said, I find absolutely no difference to when I'm on a smaller or larger ship as to how crowded it feels. The royal promenade always feels too crowded when a sale is on and also I avoid it if they do those party things on the promenade. There are a couple of other times when the ship feels crowded but for me it always feels just as crowded at those times regardless of the size of ship. I've been on harmony and ovation and they never felt very crowded and I did not feel aware at all of the amount of people that were on the ships.

  3. Just got off ovation yesterday. Had an amazing time and I loved the ship but I don't think I'd sail on a quantum class again. I love the big ships so it's not about that, I'm going on harmony on October and can't wait. My biggest problem was the dining situation on quantum class. Didnt ruin my holiday at all But just wasn't for me or my grandma.

The shows were amazing. The dream was good and loved all of the headliner shows. Spectres caboret was good in terms of the technology, But generally I hated it. There was no theme or story, it was just a whole load of crazy and was really confusing. Gave me a massive headache and needed some fresh air afterwards! I'm 23 as well so not as if I'm not used to loud music and flashing lights!

I did miss some of the entertainment I've seen on other ships like the quest, pool parties, and the daytime things by the pool like the cheesy activities that are a laugh! I don't know why some of these things wernt on this cruise, could be the length of cruise or the lack of studio b for the quest, not really sure what determines what entertainment there is.

Overall it was a brilliant holiday and wished I was on for another week!

  4. Carnival cruises I've been on were monkeys throwing organic matter at each other. I joked with a buddy as we were heading to port about my bad first Carnival and that cruise for us was worse. I think the toddlers got free alcohol packages, too!

NCL was my favorite for short cruises until I had two bad experiences that left me really disheartened. And I have almost no expectations other than food not being frozen when served (NCL) and some semblance of lounge chair maintenance (Carnival) to reduce chair hogging.

Celebrity actually had me and a CSR swearing at each other and the First Officer stepping in and yelling at her for lying to me on the record. My pops is a Celebrity fanatic so I still cruise twice a year with him but that one experience just made me unsteady. Never had a CSR actually starting yelling at me because I was confused about a committed perk.

RCCL has never dropped the ball on me. One time I thought it was happening but a quick call to guest relations (not to complain, just to inform them about a concern) had it resolved 500% beyond any fantasy solution.

I also prefer RCCL's co-addicts. So many sweet and extremely charitable Pinnacle cruisers has me pretty loyal. These folks have helped me turn a 6.5/10 into an 8.5/10 just by being decent humans.

Never did Holland America, yet. Never did Disney, yet. RCCL has been for another dozen cruises at 20-30% below my expected budget, so let's see if the next 100 cruise points allows them to screw up.

Please don't do Holland America. I really like RCI and it doesn't take much to please me, I always make the most out of any holiday, even a caravan holiday. But when I went with Holland America I actually could not wait to get home.

  5. Just checked my planner for cruise and all they are offering is select package at £27 or ultimate at £44:( No sign of premium. Think this is why I thought it had gone up as we were going to get premium package.

Oh right! Maybe they are stopping it now for certain cruises.. and maybe gradually they will get rid of it

  6. In my experience it doesn't go up the later you leave it, unless they generally raise the prices which I think they did in the past year or so. I would always recommend getting a drinks package, I am not a big drinker, but on holiday sometimes I do like to have a few drinks or I like to try random drinks. As I never drink here, I haven't tried many drinks, so when I see random cocktails on the menu it's nice to try them without feeling like you could be taking a risk by wasting some money.

Also it's a really nice feeling not having to worry about how much youre spending, so even if you didn't break even, which most people do as drinks are quite expensive, the relief of knowing exactly how much it's costing you is worth it.

In terms of pricing I'm not exactly sure but a cocktail is anywhere between 10 and 14 dollars if I remember correctly.

As it's cocktails I drink, I get the premium package rather than the ultimate as I don't drink speciality coffee or anything and I don't care about freshly squeezed orange juice enough to pay the extra money.

  7. Me and my family have been a few times with between 12 and 120of us. We are going in a couple of weeks with 13 of us.

This time it is me, 23 yo, my grandma, my auntie late 30s, my sisters 19 and 13 and my cousins 13, 20, 18, 18, 17, 15, 11 and 5.

In terms of cabin arrangements I think whatever causes minimal arguments in terms of kids as in cabins everyone does seem to get on top of one another (I'm choosing to stay out of sharing a cabin with my 2 sisters and choosing to share with some cousins) but really I don't find you're in the cabins for long enough for it to really matter what the arrangements are.

I would always opt for us to go on one of the larger ships, the fleet which includes navigator and explorer (sorry can't remember what the class is called). We always enjoy this size as there is something for everyone. The kids clubs are really good for all ages and even when I was younger, being quite shy, I always found them really fun and so do my cousins.

I think RCI are the perfect ships for all the family, whereas I've never been on Disney but I can imagine they may possibly be a bit too young whereas RCI is for everyone. We always do things as a family all togethe like go to the shows and sometimes go to a kids disco afterwards which still us older ones can have a laugh at with the kids! (I don't know if they do these anymore in the nightclubs). We also do fun things like the quest which all the family like.

Sorry I'm rambling on now, I cant really remember what the original question was! But basically, although I don't have much experience with other cruise lines, I find RCI perfect for what everyone's looking for, even when we've brought our younger cousins, my grandma has been with several other cruise lines and she has said she couldn't imagine us enjoying any of the other ones. We have so much fun going as a big party and I couldn't imagine going with any less of us! None of us have a better time than any others and there is always so much for all of us to do together without having to find something separate for the kids to do!

  8. I'm trying to talk my son & dil into bringing my Grandchildren ( ages 11, 6, 3 ) on our Liberty Christmas cruise. They've always gone on Disney ( Caribbean, Europe, Hawaii ) and I'm having a hard time convincing them. Btw, my husband and I love RCCL ! The 2 oldest boys love the clubs. Would they be happy on the Liberty ?

I'm now 23 but I've been crusing with Royal since I was 15 and I have always absolutely loved them. I've always gone with my younger sisters and 13 cousins and everyone loves them.. so although I can't compare to disney, I can't see why any kids wouldn't have fun!

  9. We have been on a few Celebrity Cruises - booked Aqua Class with the Premium beverage package. We are looking at booking a cruise on Royal Caribbean and are wondering if they have a beverage package. We have seen some good prices on several agency sites but while they offer on board credit we don't see any mention of a beverage package to select as we do when looking at Celebrity cruises.

We are taking our daughter and grandson on our next cruise and think they might enjoy Royal Caribbean more than Celebrity.

I think it just depends on how soon the cruise is and possibly if they have a lot of cabins left. For example a year and a half ago we book our cruise for September, we normally book early because there are so many of us and need a few of the larger family cabins, and we've never got any perks. However my cousin booked on to the same cruise with us about 3 months ago and he got 50 dollars free on board spending and a free select drinks package. Also my grandma and my cousin just booked one for next April and they got a free ultimate drinks package each. I think it's worth keeping an eye out for.

I will add that Neither Were Special Cabins, One Inside And The April One Is A Balcony One, But I Think IT May have Been A Free upgrade

  10. I like to remove tips also, I like to pay cash and pay different amounts to different people. I really don't care if anyone disagrees. For example the last time I went we used prepaid tips but I think we had some sort of vouchers to put in envelopes, I think that was just before they stopped doing the vouchers. Anyway the amount the suggested we gave to the the guy that seems to be in charge of your actual waiters was ridiculous. I can't remember his role, but he only ever seemed to introduce himself on the first night and then the last couple of nights he decided to suck up to us. He was really rude and cocky and seemed to look down on the other waiters. However the assistant waiter and the guy who bought our drinks to the table were so so nice and really lovely with the kids. So we decided to remove some vouchers from the head guy and give them to the people who were actually serving us, we also gave them extra cash. Since then we have decided to remove tips from account and just give as much cash as we like to the nice people who actually seem to work, which is generally everyone, but I worry I will get the odd rude person again who I don't like and felt they were rude to the other staff and I didn't feel benefited me at all :)
