  1. I keep checking because in the past i have gotten upgraded for what i paid because of the price reductions. Last time i went from a Balcony to a mini suite for the same price i paid, however my TA is kind of lazy sometimes so i have to be the one to have him check instead of being the other way around.

I agree! I never got OBC for the difference but I was able to move from and inside to oceanview twice for nothing extra and once I was able to move from a midship balcony to an aft balcony for only $30 extra.:)

  2. I am cruising on the NCL Gem out of NYC, November 23-December 3. When I booked my ticket, the arrival back to NYC was set for 8 am. I figured that gave me plenty of time to get to Newark Airport for my 2:15 flight. After I booked, the arrival time changed to 10 am. I am a little concerned about how long it takes to disembark and still make my flight. The only suggestion from NCL was to take my own luggage off the ship. OK, I can do that, but isn't there some additional way to disembark relatively early?

I also note that while NCL offers a shuttle service to an airport, it only does so to LaGuardia for this cruise ... the smallest of the three major metro airports. Yeah that makes sense. Sigh.

Any suggestions from anyone who has been in a similar situation?

Did the 9 night itinerary and was off the ship and in the taxi by 8:30am. Walked off with my own luggage. If you do choose early walk off my tip would be to pick the line that near the shops/theater the line forms in the shops hallway facing the theater right at the "fire doors." It was less hectic than the atrim location which backed up into the elevator/stairwell. However, the walk down to customs is long from there.

  3. Are there any reasonable hotels close to the port?? Do not need parking pkg

I've stayed at the Church Street Inn. Lovely little hotel with kitchen and living room and it was loft style with the bedroom and full bath being upstairs and an extra half bath downstairs. It's really close to the port next door to the market and plenty of resturants nearby. I paid $175 night for a stay last September which I thought was a steal for downtown.
