As I am getting ready to press the button to commit to my cruise in December I was wondering about Carnival's insurance. I feel the insurance is necessary, but just would like to know when to purchase it. Do I have to purchase it at the time of the booking or can I add it on at a later date?

Thats exactly what I did!

Well disregard my post. I realized that I changed it from 2 passengers to 1 so it just doubled the price[emoji16]

Not sure what keeps happening to the Carnival website[emoji16]. Checked this morning and see that my Dec 11th balcony price went from $609 pp to $1218 pp within a 1/2 hour. I have seen this happen before and assume its some sort of glitch? Cant imagine the price doubled on all the listings!

Thank you everyone for your replies. It seems like the opinions are fairly equally split between booking as a single and adding a second passenger, and booking a double and having the 2nd passenger be a no show. Since I really want to book a cruise, I should probably just do it and plan to travel by myself. Who knows maybe I will love travelling solo!

I put the 24 hour courtesy hold on booking it as a double to lock in the cheaper rate. I did not pre-pay gratuities. If I opt to use Carnivals insurance I am assuming I just put insurance on me and not the possible second person. Rate was actually pretty good considering I will most likely be going solo and paying for it myself

Thanks for the help. I just did a 24 hour courtesy hold on the booking just so I can be sure. Hard for me to believe that my friends wouldn't enjoy cruising as much as I do !

I am ready to book for a November or December 2016 Carnival cruise. I am definitely going, but at the time of booking I do not know if I can convince a friend to go or not.
Question is: Do I book the cabin now as a single and add a second person at a later date? Or do I book the cabin with two people, leaving the second name blank, and possibly cancel the second person at a later date?
The initial cost booking as a single will only have travel insurance and prepaid tips for one. If I book as a double the insurance and tips is also doubled of course. Since Carnival currently has a "sale" I wonder if I add a second person later if the cost would be higher.
Is one way more cost effective than the other?

Thanks for all the great responses. I think regarding the suite I am going to stay where we are. Maybe next time??[emoji2]

I think whats happening is I am getting so excited about this cruise. My last cruise on Carnival was 18 years ago! My first was on the Festivale with an interior cabin, then the next three were all oceanview cabins.
There are two of us in the cabin and I have a little bit of extra money and am itching to do something a bit different for this cruise. I am very happy with finally booking a balcony and now I am looking around the website looking at FTTF, suites, cheers, etc. I did get the reservation for Chefs Table and will also try the Steakhouse. Still torn about the Cheers package after reading all the pros and cons, but am loving all the posts!
The suite is about $200 more per person

They have Grand suites available midship, but thats a bit too expensive. [emoji16]

We are sailing on the Pride December 6th and after several cruises with Carnival I was excited to finally book my first balcony cabin. Currently we are booked midship Panorama deck. I was considering looking into an Ocean suite and am wondering if the additional cost is worth it. The available suites are located aft on either Upper(5) or Verandah(7).
I cant say if I spend more or less time in a cabin than anyone else, but kind of liked the idea of the larger balcony, some priority boarding, and according the the website it indicates its closer to the Serenity deck. I have never sailed on this ship so really dont know where everything is located aside from looking at the online deck plans.
Does anyone have an opinion regarding just staying where we are midship vs paying a bit more for the aft suite ?

Thanks so much! Its only been a couple of days but am anxious to make the Steakhouse reservation

Hello all... We are sailing on the Pride December 6th and want to do both the Steakhouse and the Chef's Table. I sent my email to event planning to request the Chefs Table reservation and received a response two days ago that my request was forwarded to shipboard staff .
I would like to go online and reserve our Steakhouse night, but wouldnt want to have any scheduling conflict with the Chef's Table.
Does anyone know approx how long it takes for the response from the shipboard staff in regard to letting me know if we could do the Chef's Table and what night it would be scheduled for? Then I could plan around that for the Steakhouse.

Thanks for all the input.... Since I havent cruised in 18 years, the additions of the steakhouse, etc are all new to me. The MDR always had the tablecloths and never an option of the additional $20 for the steakhouse menu. It should be quite interesting!!

Good morning all..... We are leaving December 6th on the Carnival Pride. A good friend is going with me, and I am having so much fun planning! This will be my 5th cruise and her 2d. I have been looking online including the Carnival Fun shop and Ebay for either a new or used Carnival windbreaker that I could give her as a fun gift. The Carnival shop online doesn't have any jackets or windbreakers, and Ebay has a few mens items or jackets with a different ship name.
I only have one jacket, my old Fascination windbreaker, but thought she might like one. If anyone has a generic Carnival or Carnival Pride jacket that you wish to sell please let me know. I am guessing a Women's Large would be the size.

Thanks for all the replies and the link to the menu!

Good morning all.... We are sailing on the Pride December 6th out of Baltimore. I am still trying to decide if the Cheers package is something we want. I have read many posts, pros and cons on the subject. I am pretty certain we would each be drinking the 5 drinks to break even on this.
I was hoping someone had a recent bar menu with drink pricing. Since drinks need to be $10.00 or less it would certainly be a good idea to know prices before ordering 😊

Thank you so much for the information! I have been looking through many of the topics and forums and I see ALOT of changes to Carnival during my 18 year absence!

You can read my comprehensive review of the Chef's Table with the new menu:
Excellent review with mouthwatering pics!!!

It seems as though the Steakhouse is a great option. I havent head one bad thing about it!!

I'm doing steakhouse for the first time this October. I found a link with the mdr menus and chose the day that the mdr looked. Least appealing. It is $35 pp for steakhouse. We have done the $20 upgrade in the mdr for a steakhouse selection before so we are interested to see how the steakhouse experience compares to that. We have never done chefs table & probably won't because the end I've seen doesn't look appetizing to me (this is not the case for most people from what I've seen on here).
Where did you find the MDR menu? That would be fun to look at!

Thank you so much for the link! I looked all over under the " manage my cruise" but did not see that

I am here in Litchfield CT and don't really like to fly either. Just sailed on the Pride in December. Not a bad 5 hour drive to Baltimore. Wondering how far I am willing to drive in order to try a different ship out of another port!
