  1. Another scenario could be deck 13, which is below public areas like pools and Windjammer. You may experience noise coming from chairs being dragged etc. Also, some balcony staterooms on deck 13 have large overhand on top, and struts coming down (deck 12 has the struts as well).

You may want to have a loot here: http://quantumoftheseasreview.blogspot.ca/. It has a lot more information about cabin situation and choosing the best spot.

  2. 300 is for 2 rooms but 1 night, sorry I forgot to specify that, so you were probably right with 600 for 2 rooms 2 nights. :o

I booked the room right before my parents decided to visit NYC, that is why.

I checked trinityreservation. Never heard of it, but they seem specialized in cruise/hotel/park deals. If I do a search now there are Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn that show up. Prices seem interesting: I'm seeing 236.00 for Crowne Plaza and 300 for Holiday Inn. You say they'll have more options in 2 weeks?

  3. Thanks for mentioning the accessibility features of the skydiving. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to do it or even want to it I could because I'd most likely end up in a lot of pain after. But I will definitely go ahead of time with my daughter. Thanks for the tips!

Sounds like you made your decision. :) Have a great cruise.

  4. The kid pool is far better on Allure than Anthem. There's also a carousel, mini golf and ice skating rink that Anthem doesn't have. On the other side, Anthem has bumper cars, skydiving simulator, circus lessons, and the northstar, all of which aren't really for a 5 yo.

For bumper car and skydiving I believe there are age restrictions. What about ports of call? Any preferences?

  5. Cabin categories refer to the internal pricing scheme of the cruise company. Cabins of the same category have the same price.

Many factors can influence the price of a cabin (thus the category). Usually, cabins located in the center of the ship will be more expensive than those in the aft or bow sections. Also, higher decks price would be higher than lower decks. An obstructed balcony cabin would sell a bit cheaper than a normal ones etc.

So the cabin may have the same size and layout, but depending where they are located, they'll be priced differently. That's why they are in different categories.

  6. While I like to have a drink with my wife from time to time the packages would simply be too much for the two of us, especially for 12 days cruise with lots of port to visit. We would never drink enough for what it's worth. That's why the drink card would make perfect sense. But hey, it's not the end of the world. thanks for the answers. :D

  7. Hey thanks a lot everyone! The only other time we've been on Royal's ship was on the Oasis last year, and I think we had my time dining, for which I had to make reservation for every night prior embarcation via the cruise planner. I understand that this time I don't need to do that since we'll have a table assigned to us. Hey should get rid of "dynamic dining" from their website since it will just get people like us confused. Cheers.

  8. Hi, so we book this cruise on the Anthem for January 2018 a while ago and I never went back to check the reservation. Now I just learned that they got rid of the Dynamic Dining. Back then we made a diner reservation for 5:30 PM but now should we have traditional dining?

When I look at my booking (we booked directly on the website), I can see "Dinner Seating: Dynamic Dining Classic lets you enjoy reserved seating and choose between two dining times in a preset lineup of restaurants. 05:30 PM" under Preferences & Requests. This got me really confused. When I try to change it, the only option I have is "Waitlist - 08:15 PM Dynamic Dining Classic...". Am I missing something here? Is this reservation worth something or it's only the "real reservation" when it opens up that counts? Should I call Royal? Please help... :o

BTW the cruise planner's dining reservation is not available yet for our cruise.

  9. Hi,

Does anyone know how RCI set the price for the 3rd and 4th guest? I'm looking at 2 very similar cruises a year apart, with same price for 1st and 2nd guest, but about 500$ more for the 3rd and 4th guest each. And that is the price before applying all the savings!!

For the first cruise, the price of 3rd guest is roughly 40% of the 1st, and for the second cruise, it is 60%! What are the logics here?

  10. I've been on the Oasis last few weeks and the VOOM Internet (same as Anthem's) is amazingly fast. Duing our cruise we never experienced any slow down, cut, or blind spot (location without signal) on the ship.

I wonldn't worry too much about Internet access on Anthem as it is their newest ship.

  11. I actually did a bunch of comparison between Quantum and Anthem, mostly for kids' stuff. I'm under the impression that Quantum has more Dreamwork stuff than the Anthem. In addition to the lack of parade, the H2O zone of Quantum is decorated with Dreamwork characters. On Anthem it is merely a shallow pool.

  12. The dream work characters are on the ship. No parades like the other ships but plenty of photo ops. They have the dream works breakfast also

Thanks for the info. It's unfortunate that there's no parade since we missed it last time on the Oasis and the kids would've enjoyed it. :( I hope RCCL could add it in the near future...
