I thought when they changed the name from Ultimate to Unlimited, they allowed multiple specialty restaurants in one evening.

As usual, Host Clarea is correct!  I just spoke to RCCL.  The program changed from "Ulimate" to "Unlimited" in April 2019 - which was after my last cruise in Feb 2019.

However, to the original question, so you could use UDP for after-show eats, but it will typically be limited to JR and Sabor, as the other Specialties close at 9pm.  But since it's unlimited, maybe you have an early dinner @ Chops, see a show, then finish with tacos and guac at Sabor.  Happy eating.

we will be on the Harmony in March and are buying this package for the first time

my husband wanted it because after shows there is never anything to eat other then paying or pizza

so if we wanted to just show up at sabers or Johnny rockets to grab something small we should be able to do that?

are there any other small places like those to grab something maybe Vintages is that on Harmony

I would not use UDP for after-show eats.  UDP is not unlimited dining, meaning you can't visit more than one specialty restaurant per night.  You could go to MDR and a specialty, but it would be a waste to use UDP at JR vs just paying as you go (SeaPass charge).

  3. We were on Oasis earlier this month and bought the three specialty restaurant package after we boarded the ship for like $80 plus tip. We did Izumi Hibachi, Chops and Giovanni. I had steak in all three. The waiter in Giovanni promised that his steak would be the best. It was and he even sent the chef out to thank me for saying so. The steak in Izumi Hibachi was also excellent.

While we enjoyed the specialty restaurants, we missed the interaction that you get from having the same waiter in the MDR. Next time, we would most likely do just one specialty restaurant.

I had read that dining packages weren't valid for Izumi Hibachi, but apparently that is not the case. Was there any discussion about that with whoever you bought the package from or made the reservation with (like, "In the past, you couldn't use a dining package at Hibachi, but it recently changed if you'd like to try it"?)

I'm on Oasis Feb 4 and we have the Ultimate Dining Package, so we plan to try for Hibachi.

  4. Lessons are definitely worth it. If you pay attention while another student is getting instruction, you continue to learn. Although you can get help during "open" times, in a group lesson you get more "reps" or tries in a short time.

I learned in my late 40s. Picked it up reasonably quickly, as I've skied (intermediate) and snowboarded (beginner). Last time I went, instructor encouraged me to join the "expert" operating time, which basically means you have to be able to start by yourself with no help. But a word to the wise - being accomplished in the group lesson or even in open time is not that same as expert. Because of the skill level of the riders, they increase the flow, which makes it more fun if you are of a higher skill level. I was not used to the speed, and struggled to stay up. I could have used an "advance group lesson" to get used to the speed of the water at the expert level (it's like switching between a blue and black run on a ski slope).
