  1. Good question. It's been a long time since we last cruised. Besides the shrimp cocktails we enjoyed escargots. Besides learning if NCL serves shrimp cocktails in the MDR I'm interested in learning if they serve escargots as well. I unfortunately learned that lobster is no longer available. :-(

  2. Hi Heidi,

    Meanwhile, over on the Dream...

    From FB:

"The Carnival Dream has a technical issue which our engineering team is currently working on. The ship is at dock in St. Maarten. At no time did the ship lose power but there were periodic interruptions to elevators and toilets for a few hours last night. However at this time all hotel systems are functioning normally and have been functional since approximately 12.30am. The ship has full power but is still at dock while personnel continue to work on the technical issue. The Carnival Dream was on a seven-day cruise and is based in Port Canaveral, Fla."

We have friends that are supposed to leave on the Dream this Saturday. I gave them a heads up to contact Carnival to see if their sailing will be delayed. I told them to look at this as an adventure!

  3. There was no vibration, no wind, no soot, and no cigarette butts. Only sun we got was when the sun went down if we were lined up in the right direction.

Our cabins and balconies on Deck 10 were noticeably longer than our friend’s cabins on Deck 7. Same cost too!

As far as aft cabins go, we needed to try it and did it. Probably won't do it again because we all enjoy sitting out on the balconies and watching everything around us. In the aft you are limited to what you are seeing, just the back. I also like going out on my balcony in the morning and watching the ship pull into the port. We also like being in a row and having the balcony doors open up down our row of cabins; the aft balconies don't open up.

Thanks for the info. I'm considering aft for a future cruise, but for now, we like center hump balconies. ;) We had one on the Jewel and have one booked for our October LOS cruise. I like the fact that the dividers open on the LOS vs the Jewel. Our friends our next to us so we'll be able to open it up for an even bigger balcony.

  4. We too flipped ports and were worried. Tex told us that the harbor master lets them know in case of port changes as soon as they know. Wished I would have known that all along. Gave us a few anxious moments.

Heh, you weren't the only one anxious. ;) I was freaking out until I talked to someone on our roll call that told us they talked to Victor who said there wouldn't be any problems for any of us with our tours through him on Roatan.

One of the purser's let me use their phone to call Yhony in Belize to make sure we were still set for the cavetubing. I definitely had some anxious moments before then.

  5. We are going to be in Rotoan in October and we were looking into using victor and doing the ziplining. I was surprised to see that they wouldnt take you to the extreme zipline. Has anything changed with their tours for ziplining?

My guess is that ever since that lady died ziplining in Roatan back in March that they're pretty careful about where they take you now.

  6. Just returned... thanks for all the earlier posts!

    I'd definitely say:

    1. book private lessons for flowrider for 1st or 2nd night AND last night. We booked early arrival day for 2nd night out. Checked later in week and nights were available... but we sat on the fence too long. It did completely book up... and on the last night... I think it would have been a fabulous way to end the cruise! We missed out... but maybe you can enjoy it then!

They offer private lessons? Interesting. Is there a charge for this?

Where do you go to book these lessons?

  7. The Legend has a water slide' date=' right?

    Kids wading pool?[/quote']

Yes to both. All pools/slide are saltwater.

Tell me more about the famous spa showers :D

Kohler fixtures. Overhead rain head and side fixtures. All very nice. ;)

I will have 2 adults and 2 kids- is the foldout couch big enough for 2 kids?

I would say no. It doesn't really fold out like on RCI ships. You'd want to put one in the fold down pullman and one on the couch.

Can we have a do not disturb sign, and negatives if we don't want anyone coming to the room while we are gone? Will the capers still come?

There is a Do Not Disturb sign. I'm not sure if they'd come into your room to deliver the Capers with it out though. They may put the Capers in your mailbox.

Any tips for a fist time cruiser? I will be inviting 20+ of my friends and family too...so any tips are very welcome!

Read through this thread for your tips.

  8. can someone please tell me where the launry is on the legend and do you have to babysit your clothes while they wash??

  9. Thanks for the tip Scott!!! I really want to have access to all 3 rooms via the balconies! I'm hoping the door to the adjoining rooms doesn't make us lose our couch but if it does, oh well. I know on a different class of ships it does but for some reason I thought I saw that on the Glory the door was placed differently. And I just spoke with my step daughter. For some reason I thought we were sailing 3 weeks from tomorrow and it's actually in 2!!!! I better get busy!!!!!

Have fun! We have three cat 11's in a row for our upcoming Easter cruise. We'll have our dividers opened as well. ;)

  10. Has anyone ever had an adjoining room on the Legend? We have rooms 7259 adjoining to 7263 and then also 7267 which is next door. Two questions: Do you know if the door that joins the rooms makes the rooms lose the couch to accomodate the door and will the steward open the balconies so that we can be connected that way also? My husband and I are in 1 room that connects to our 28 year old and 9 year old daughters. The next room is our oldest daughter and her husband. We sail 3 weeks from tomorrow and I can't wait!!!! Thanks for any help! Mary:)

I can't help you with the connecting interior doors question, but to get the balcony dividers opened you need to go to the Pursers desk when you first board the ship and have one representative from each cabin there asking to have the divider opened. They only open a limited number of dividers per sailing which is why you want to ask for it right away.
