well, every kid is different. Mine would have been bored to death with just the adults talking about adult things and would start whining, probably, but our friends' kid has ADHD, so for him it was nearly impossible to sit through the dinner. He was running around, getting under the table, etc. A tablet would have most likely saved everyone a lot of trouble. Learning to behave and being able to sit through a 2 hour dinner are different things.

Also, mine had separation and stranger anxiety, so we couldn't ship him off to kid's club even if we wanted to.

They’ll definitely all have a tablet for dinner, if we choose to have a long dinner in the MDR that’s nice for us but not their decision so are happy to let them have their tablets to enjoy while we enjoy a leisurely dinner. My oldest is excited though to go to the buffet for a quick dinner and then off to the kids club!

  2. We're going on a Celebrity cruise next summer (not our choice, was booked by the in laws before anyone else tells me to move to RC). Our kids will be 3, 6 & 8. 8 year old turns 8 on our first full day which is a sea day. Any tips, advice, recommendations or even just recent reviews of the kids camp would be much appreciated. Unsure how we can make it special for our eldest's birthday if anyone has ideas on that too! We are sailing from Southampton doing 7 days round Spain & Portugal. Seem to be a lot of people on these boards that aren't best pleased about kids on Celebrity Cruises so I'm getting a little worried...

The switch to lower the window is pretty high up on the wall. And it's not instantaneous - it takes quite a while to get the window to lower all the way down. The fixed (bottom) panel is as high as a balcony railing, so in order to go over the kids would have to lower the window (which makes a really loud squealing sound as it goes down) by holding down the switch the whole time, then pull furniture over to the edge and climb out. You might be able to get them to lock the windows permanently closed for your two cabins, but then what's the point? You might as well have an ocean view cabin for less money.

If you put a piece of duct tape over the switch that would probably prevent the youngest one from fooling with it, but there is nothing 100% foolproof in keeping them from operating the window unless an adult is supervising them all the time.

Thanks for your helpful reply it’s made me feel calmer about it! We will be staying an adult in each room and did try for oceanview but no interconnecting available and would like to be able to spend the evenings together once kids are asleep

One  chair climb  away from goung out... unless window can be locked..

But how could X  or parents/ guardians  put 3 children 8 yrs old and under into cabin by themselves even if interconnecting...??    Adults should  split up..

We will be spliting up, I was surprised Celebrity allocated rooms like that which was why I mentioned it, it wasn’t even crucial to the post!

How did  celebrity decide who is in what cabin?  When we have booked 2 rooms we tell Celebrity or the TA who to assign to each room .

Call whoever you booked with and change the Room assignment so that each room has a adult it.

My MIL booked it, we won’t be staying like that, we will be an adult in each room sorry I ahould have made clear. I was just mentioning as surprised they allocated it like that and it let them!

How can they be supervised at all times when the three kids are in their own stateroom separate from the two adults. Totally your responsibility to ensure their safety, at all times. I've always understood that no kids under 21 could be booked in a separate stateroom. You separating yourselves from them once onboard is all on you.

Sorry missed out a crucial word on my OP, should have read “surprisingly Celebrity have put us…” but we won’t be staying like that. We will be an adult in each room

    There's no getting out there. It's not a balcony/veranda.

I know it’s not a regular balcony but have seen how it operates and don’t want the kids pressing the buttons and opening it up. Obviously they will be as supervised as possible but when we’re in the bathroom…

  8. Does anyone know how easy it easy to open up the veranda? Staying in interconnecting with 2 adults & 3 children, Celebrity have put the 2 adults in one room and 3 kids in the other (8, 6 & 3). How easy would it be for them to open it? I’m hoping it can be locked or something so they can’t get out there. Would love to hear if anyone here knows thank you!

  9. We are travelling out of Singapore in May. If we don’t cancel/postpone now but the cruise gets cancelled will we get a full refund as opposed to FCC? Seems to me they’re offering their new deal of 48 hours to cancel with full FCC, is in the hopes people will cancel so that when the cruises do get cancelled, they won’t have to pay anyone out cash?

  10. Can we just turn up or was I meant to book the times I wanted? There’s absolutely nothing available at all apart from 9:30pm which doesn’t work well with two toddlers! Last time we cruised (pre kids) we had MTD and just showed up as and when we wanted to eat...

  11. Have you booked in the UK as a package, if so you will be covered by ABTA. We were on the cancelled 15/02 cruise, we had booked through UK ta and got all monies refunded even though RCL only refunded the cruise. Americans and many of the Australians on the same cruise have not all been so lucky. It also seems that many insurance companies would not pay out due to it being an epidemic.

We didn’t book a package. I think we’ll just still go even if the cruise is cancelled. My sister lives there so we have free accommodation, just didn’t really want 2 weeks in Singapore with no break, but first world problems eh!

  12. We are cruising in April out of Singapore and I am on the fence,  I know they have cancelled all of March and I think they are gonna do the same for April I guess.  I've got non refundable air which Is another problem.  What to do what to do

We are cruising out of Singapore in May, also have non refundable air- if cruise is cancelled will insurance cover the air fare do you know?

With respect to the kids club, it starts at age 3, so the 2 year old is too young to attend at all. Not sure if Voyager has a nursery. The 3 year old must be completely potty trained. They will not help at all. As for the dining package, just get for the two of you. When you make your reservations onboard, then you would book a table for four.

He’s potty trained and will be almost four on our trip 🙂. No nursery currently but the ship is going into dry dock this week (I think) and is sailing again in October with a nursery! Happy days!

    Hi MrsBee

there are many existing threads with some great answers for most of this.

    Couple of quick answers:

no charge for Kids Club. You sign them up on the first day once onboard. Search this forum for Adventure Ocean for a lot more detail.

Wifi is generally pretty bad. Get the Surf & Stream for the most bearable speeds. If you want a device connected for the kids at the same time that you will want your own access get the package that provides multiple codes.

Phuket: go to the forum for that location for the best answers about excursions but yes you can choose/book your own if you like.

    Have fun!

Thank you, I have no idea how to search, I’ll try and and work it out though 🙂

  15. We have just booked on Voyager of The Seas for May 2020, 4 nights from Singapore. Me, husband, 2yo & 3yo. I don’t even know where to start with questions...

We booked a Panoramic Oceanview Suite (no balcony). Do we get suite perks? What are the perks, if any?

Can I book the unlimited dining package just for me & husband and have the kids eat beforehand but still come and sit with us or would they need to have the plan too?

Kids clubs, how do I sign up? What’s the charge?

Does the wifi work well? Don’t want to purchase a package if it’s useless

Any other tips for cruising with toddlers? Please don’t tell me not to do it!

Any idea what kind of excursions they do in Phuket or if we can do it ourselves?

  17. AFAIK there are no obstructed balconies on any NCL ship.

On some older ships there are some hull balconies in very fwd/aft which means that the balcony is inside ship's hull and there is a window-like opening in the side.

On newer ships the lifeboats are hanging below some balconies so they obstruct the view down, but not out to the side.

Thank you!! I was starting to feel like I had made a mistake upgrading!
