  1. The airline did nothing except offer us 1 night hotel room and would book us another flight on December 26th.  If we wanted additional hotel rooms, we (all ten of us) had to come back (via our own transportation) to get another voucher.  My son in law found us flights on Christmas morning on another airline and we used some reward points to assist with our hotel stays.

  2. Please be careful using FBC.  We used them for a cruise for our family the week prior to Christmas week.  Our cruise was amazing.  We arrived at the airport to go home, 3 days prior to Christmas.  After sitting on the plane for almost 2 hours, they told us the plane couldn't depart because a toliet wouldn't flush.  We deboarded (all 10 of us, 6 adults and 4 preteen to teenager.  I immediately called FBC.  We took turns being on hold for 7 hours - we were disconnected 14 times. They never answered, except to tell us to continue to hold for a supervisor.   We ended up rebooking new flights ourselves and paying for 2 nights of 3 hotel rooms with meals.  Our grandkids were brokenhearted to miss Christmas at home.  We never did hear back from Celebrity after repeated phone calls.  Fortunately the airline reimbursed us for flights.  The customer service through FBC is terrible.

  4. One year ago, the week before Christmas we took our daughters, spouses and 4 grands on the Apex, ages ranging from 9 to 14.  We opted not to use the kids club.  We booked sky suites and the kids had a ball.  They loved the shows in the theatre, club and eden.  They would sit for hours and read, play games or talk at the retreat pool.  Several couples stopped us and mentioned how well behaved our kids were.  They loved getting ice cream from Scoops in the afternoon and picking dining menus for the evening.  Celebrity was wonderful for our family, and we are looking for dates to coincide with everyone's schedule for another family trip.  Thank you Celebrity!

  5. I had a similar incident.  We had a no cancellation flight through Celebrity.  My husband and I decided to make our cruise a B2B and called to change the airfare.  All they could do was cancel our first flight, no refund and charge us an additional $5,500 to come home a week later.  We did not take that option, but several weeks later I decided to try once again.  I talked to a lady named Maria after a 2 hour hold.  She told me there were absolutely no business class airfares available for up to three days after the B2B would end.  Celebrity had booked our original flight through British Airways so I contacted them about availability.  There were 15 different options to choose from.  I can certainly understand mistakes but I don't appreciate being lied to.  We have been loyal Celebrity customers for years and this cruise will make us Elite Plus.  That will probably change.  Best of luck to you, I am not sure if contacting your airline direct help as I am not sure about the contract they have with Celebrity, but I would sure try.  I can't believe the airlines would want to be misrepresented by the cruise line.

  6. Totally agree with problems on this cruise. I have never written a negative comment until this cruise. We also were Elite passengers on a beautiful aft cabin. We never received any concierge services. Tote bag never was delivered after several requests. No pillow menu, no breakfast menus, fruit after 5 days, robes after 5 days, etc. We never did meet or learn our cabin steward's name. We only saw him 2 or 3 times in 11 days. His assistant was very attentive though. We asked to have the refrigerator bar removed, this never happened. We asked to have the champagne replaced with wine, any kind is fine - this happened on the 9th day of the cruise. We found medications from a previous passenger in our cabin. So much for the excellent cleaning after the virus. Our balcony was dirty and table needed a wiping. We did this ourselves.

If we compare previous Celebrity food with this cruise, I would say this was sub standard. We did enjoy Q Sine and SS United States, however. We also had great service in Bistro Five.

We thought the Infinity's entertainment was very good. We certainly enjoyed the shows and stopping by and watching the martini bar servers. I totally agree with the movie selection leaving much to me desired. My DH and I both walked out on one.

We also missed the captain's club activities as we never received any letter or notification of the events. This included the evening cocktail hour, the officers party and the Meet and Mingle for Cruise Critic.

We have a cruise planned for next year with Celebrity. I certainly hope the cruise line is back to the level of excellence we have previously experienced.

  7. Yeah - another Seahawks fan. Transatlantic Cruises are the best! Besides total relaxation if that is your choice, the gym is amazing. Celebrity provides you with so many activities, from lectures and wine tasting to trivia games and dance lessons that you always have something to do. DH even got involved in a ping pong tournament. He hadn't played since college and we are both retired now.

We met people for cards, WI and cocktails frequently. Also loved our balcony as a quiet place to read and listen to ipods.

Enjoy! The cruise is amazing! :)
