Greetings! This is my first time posting a trip report on Cruise Critic, and I thought it would be fun to share our upcoming vacation.

Day nine - Saturday July 16 - we will take the train from Invergordon to Inverness and spend the day at the 200th Inverness Highland Games.

Day ten - Sunday July 17 - we will begin with touring Edinburgh Castle, followed by the Rick Steves Edinburgh: Royal Mile audio walking tour. Along the way, we will stop by The Elephant House cafe where J.K. Rowling wrote some of the Harry Potter books, Greyfriars Cemetery, Deacon Brodie's Tavern for lunch, and the Museum of Edinburgh.

Did I miss anything?! We are so excited for this trip, and I look forward to engaging with everyone following along on this post.

Tiki  We will be cruising to Invergordon and Edinburgh in Sept on the Island Prin. Do you recall if there were any rental cars at the Port of Invergordon? If not, did Princess provide a shuttle into Invergordon or Inverness?

Hope you had a great adventure.

  2. I booked a specialty dining 5 pack for our upcoming cruise..my intention is to arrange with the concierge, once on board, for all those meals to be at Murano on sea days ..

We were considering the same for January...

The reason I ask...last month on Princess we were approached shortly after boarding and offered 3 specialty dinners for $70. Wow, what a difference on Celebrity. BTW, all of those dinners were wonderful, one in each restaurant.

Would anyone know if Celebrity makes a 1st day offer on board for specialty dining?

    Thanks..........

  3. The Canadian government has implemented a temporary mandatory slow down for vessels of 20 meters or more in length in an effort to prevent further whale deaths in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The slowdown takes effect immediately. As informed, ships are required to reduce speed to a maximum of 10 knots when traveling in the western Gulf of St.Lawrence from the Quebec north shore to just north of Prince Edward Island.

“The recent deaths of several North Atlantic right whales in the Gulf of St. Lawrence are extremely concerning… Our government has already taken action and will continue to ensure that measures are in place for the protection of this species and the safety of mariners using these waters,” a statement issued by Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport,Dominic LeBlanc, Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian CoastGuard, says.

“We also need to understand why ship strikes and fishing gear entanglement have contributed to the sharp spike in whales deaths this year, with at least 12 having perished from a population estimated to number only about 500.
