  1. Yes - I tried to do this to take advantage of the Princess exchange rate (better than the bank rate at the time). You can not use purchased OBC to pay for excursions as it does not show up on your personalizer - it only shows up on your account after you board the ship. The OBC you get as a promotion shows up on your personalizer immediately and therefore can be used to purchase excursions.

  2. Thank you for the clarification! It seems because it is purchased OBC it does not show up on the personalizer and therefore can not be used to pre pay for excursions! That makes sense to me! Too bad though because the exchange rate is so much better that way.

  3. From the information on this website I had my TA buy OBC to pay for my excursions (due to the exchange at 1.3 for CDN).

She first called Princess and was told that we could do this so she purchased OBC at the 1.3 exchange and said we just had to wait a day for it to post so she could buy the excursions.

Today I go an e-mail stating she contacted Princess again because she still couldn't buy the excursions and was told that you could only use OBC that was from a promotion not purchased OBC to buy excursions.

    Does this sound right??

  4. Thank you all! I am excited to have a bit more relaxed cruise as opposed to Carnival, not worried about the demographic being older at all! We are Canadian so we won't be getting any veteran OBC, but we did get 300 OBC each for an anniversary special so that's good - and we've already gotten one price drop! I'm keeping my eye on the price. If there isn't an International Cafe is there still a coffee place to get specialty coffees? I love my lattes in the morning. I am also thinking about getting the beverage package. Touchy subject I know but for me just knowing that everything is paid for and I won't have a bill at the end for drinks is worth it - especially since it's optional for each person in the cabin with Princess. 289 days to go!! LOL

  5. Hi everyone! So I have my very first Princess cruise booked. I have been on one other cruise - solo carribean with Carnival. This cruise is to check off some bucket list items. It will be a father/daughter trip (my bucket list) and the Panama Canal (my Dad's bucket list). We are on the Island Princess from LA to Ft. Lauderdale.

I'm just wondering what are the need to know things about Princess/the Panama/longer cruise - this one is 15 nights as opposed to 7.

CC was a HUGE help before my first cruise - even solo I didn't feel overwhelmed thanks to this site!

I'm already counting down the days (290)

Thanks in advance for all your help!!

  6. Hi everyone! My parents are going on a cruise from Singapore to Australia this year and are wondering about the toiletry situation. I have only ever cruised Carnival so am not sure if it's different on Celebrity. What is provided and what's the quality like? I tried to search but the only answers I could find were from 2010. Hoping someone has more recent info!

    Thanks!!
