Hey guys...
a buddy of mine started a new site called CruizeList.com that would be perfect for solo travelers/cruisers. It operates like craigslist but for cruise ships, so instead of a city there's a page for every cruiseship. There's everything from personals to cabin mates to shore excursions. Check it out!
I'm on it now posting reviews. [emoji4]

Go to the app store and download an app called Hopper. It will tell you whether to buy now or wait.

Independence of the Seas leaving FLL on Jan 8, 2018 to labadee and Falmouth. To sail solo was only 840 before tax, port fees and tips when I booked a couple months ago.

Sounds like a blast! Next time you can take on the persona of an "international secret agent"......
I love it!

Don't I wish!! I love the Sun, and the Panama Canal is on my bucket list. however, i have my cruise budget maxed out for this academic year. Unless something last minute and very cheap comes up out of NYC in January. . .
Have a great cruise and enjoy the Sun!! (the rooms are the largest i've ever experienced).

I (single male age 50)cruise solo quite often and have no problem meeting people or having a good time...and I am somewhat shy at first. I meet people from all age groups and backgrounds and have had a great time with them.
However forgive me but I am going to get parental here for a moment, Just be careful like you would anywhere else in letting people know you are traveling Solo. Even as a male very few people on ship know I am traveling completely solo....I tell most I am traveling with a group of friends.
Have a Great Trip.
That's good advice uncleg!

Just read on our roll call that there will be 10 ships in St Maarten the day we are there??
Can this port handle that many ships?? There are a couple that I've never heard of. Two AIDA ships, 1 Tomson, 3 P&O, 1 Azamara, and 3 Royal Caribbean.
So glad we are doing a boat tour. Cannot imagine who busy the beaches and shopping will be
O-M-G that sounds simply awful. I know Grand turk was really packed with 2 ships - carnival conquest and magic. 😨
What part of the OH are you from? I'm from Warren.

At least they are allowing them the opportunity to request a refund or reschedule. That's normally not an option, but I suppose that they figure substituting NYC and Canada for the Caribbean is just too much of a change.

It really is. I'm glad they offered that.

I feel bad for the people already down in Baltimore with their shirts packed for the warm weather. Better go buy some sweatshirts!

Yeah me too--I'm an hour away from Baltimore but I never sail from there because I don't want to sail away in the cold so I just fly out of FLL OR MIA. Hurricane doesn't care though...😟

Hi,
I'm trying to book Independence of the Seas for 5 people. I need to 2 rooms. Our choices are
1. 2 ocean-view guarantee rooms
2. 2 assigned connected ocean-view cabin #3634 and #3636
3. 2 rooms next to each other 3340 and 3342
Any feedback on those rooms or suggestion about guarantee rooms is greatly appreciated.
I concur with Clarea- #3.
I'd go with option 3, non-connected. The connecting door can change the furniture.Sent from my SM-G928T using Forums mobile app

Thanks for the information. I'll take a closer look at deck tomorrow. I'm not really sure I would like a cove balcony. I think a balcony on deck 2 would be a little too close to the water for me. One person has never cruised and the other is my son who was on a carrier in the Navy and said as long as it's not at the back he didn't care what deck.
Why don't you try an ocean suite balcony on deck 7 or 8? That's the vertical middle of the ship so your cruise virgin won't feel much rocking, your son is accommodated, and you'll be high enough away from the water.

That's 764 per person and yes that is high for interior with almost a year before sailing. I'm cruising on the same ship, with a group two weeks after you and paying that much for an ocean view! You should call a vacation planner and confirm that rate. They're there 24 hours a day. I tried a mock booking too and got nothing--literally.

I'm very social but I need my alone time too. I like being free to do what I want to do at the time I want to do it. Besides, I'm an empty nester and folks can't always cruise when I can. I had four cruises on the books in Jan 2016 but only cruised twice because roommates cancelled out on me. I have one buddy, also an empty nester, who can curise on a similar timeline as I but outside of him, I cruise alone.

Can't be any worse than when I go to concerts in Camden, NJ.
Or Newark! [emoji4]

I liked the Hyatt pier 66. Embassy suites on 17th Street is expensive and the decor is old and tacky but it's at the cruise port, shopping restaurants, etc. A Dania beach hotel is probably a good bet.

Does anyone have experience with a virtual balcony? DH and I are going to try one on our Alaskan cruise. While I appreciate a balcony would be lovely, it was a few thousand more than the virtual... If this works for us, we may do more of these and fewer potholes. We do have a price point in mind when we book a cruise and we do book balconies on cruises with more sea days in warm itineraries when the price is right.
I'm doing a VB on Anthem but that's not until September. I'll keep an eye out for commentary as well, because that was the main reason I booked RCCL.

LOL! Love this! Now, let's see if someone spots the spelling error. LOL!!
LOL, duh at the spelling! I'm mad at myself! 😖

A pier-runner is someone (or a group) that are running toward the pier very close to of after the deadline to return to the ship. Sometimes they get to the ship in time, and other times, they miss the ship. Talk about nightmares!
That's why it's best to book through the cruise line. We returned after the deadline, five hour tour stretched to nine hours. But since it was a ship excursion, they held the ship for us.
Thanks!

I'm asingle male and I take about 20 cruises a year. I would like to find an attractive woman that likes to cruise.
That would be me. Come on let's go.

I just bought a new bag that I can carry on flights to MIA accompany my small pullman. This will save me $200 in checked bag fees over the next 4 cruises. I can pick up lotions, potions and snacks I may have forgotten en route to the port. Seems like a good plan, right? I'll find out how well it works in 41 days.

No, seriously: what is a peer runner? Clearly we just don't know. 😕
-
Doesn't bother me. Touching the door handle when leaving the bathroom is way worse because not everyone washes their hands!

Wow I would rather have this menu instead of the lobster....;)
I think WAY too much is made of lobster night......
Me too.
What is best solo option for next year?
