For your information the Captain on the Equinox sailing of 4/3/22 to 4/15/22 kept us informed on a daily basis at 5:30pm once Covid was detected on board. On day 10 or 11 of our cruise, Captain reported at 5:30 pm that there were no new cases and passengers applauded in the MDR!

People were seated in the MDR at 5:30PM?  I thought we had the early seating and that started at 6PM?

Can you tell me where you see this info? Can't find it on any of my docs so far and I sail sooner than you.

On their website when you sign into your account and look at your reservation.  I click on "Tell Me More" about your reservation, and then it pulls up a window to the right hand side... scroll down to day 1.  Mine says departs at 7pm.  I read in the FAQ somewhere you needed to be onboard 2 hours before she sails.

    Why?

Not everyone wants it but everyone would be paying for it in increased prices for the cruuse

Why not?  Not everyone likes free coffee and juices and tea...  you don't see me complaining about the increased costs for that, when I don't use them....

  4. I cannot believe all the "prudes" in this group. In Alberta, Canada (and other places), it's legal to drink at 18. To go on some cruise and have a stupid number like 21 thrown at you is just ridiculous... Or for other people who think hard liquor is different than beer or wine... a drink is a drink is a drink...

  5. When it comes to booze, "good cheap" is unrealistic.

A cruise ship "margarita" made with Jose Cuervo, triple sec and citrus mixer is swill, at best. Even if your package charges extra, get a real Margarita (the classic made famous at Tommy's in SF): El Tesoro reposado tequila, fresh lime juice and agave syrup (yes, there's no Cointreau or any other orange type liquor in a real Margarita). And never put it in a blender!

What are you talking about? LOL... the ONLY way to drink a Marg is frozen, in a blender!!!

    hmmm

  6. And if you ask for a Cherry Coke Zero, they'll tell you they don't have it....and that's technically true.

...So just ask for a Coke Zero with grenadine. :D

So much for sugar free then... grenadine is mostly sugar, I think... (I have to avoid sugar for diabetes, but Cherry Coke Zero is my FAV!)

  7. I'm not a big sun person, but I do like to sit in the shade for an hour or so and do some people watching. It is very frustrating when folks have their loungers in the sun and then the same amount saved in the shade, so that they can go back and forth.

Wow, maybe I'm not that observant, but I haven't seen that yet...

  8. So their official response was they checked into the logs of the booking, and found that it wasn't a person who made the change, but it was the computer that reassigned the room. They gave me a choice, that I could choose a different room, and one opened up, so that was OK. They offered me $50 OBC to take the new room, or they could call the other people and offer them the $50 OBC to give that room back to us. We decided to just take the new room and the $50. Originally all the rooms in that category were gone, so happy one opened up! We are staying in a large picture window right at the front of the Escape. I hope we like it!

  9. I booked a cabin on the Escape for a cruise in January. I have a confirmation from NCL with my cabin number on it. I was just browsing the price on a different web site, when I noticed that my cabin number was available.

I called NCL first thing this morning to ask what is going on, and my room is now belonging to different people. WTH?

All they could do was to give me a different room, and tell me that it was a computer error.

I'm not too happy right now... grrr

  10. We were on the Epic last month and witnessed chair hogs every, single morning. I don't sleep well and was up on deck no later than 5 every morning having coffee and reading. About 5:30 or 6:00 the CHs would start showing up. We'd watch them leave their towels and then scamper off. About 9-ish, after enjoying breakfast and running back down to the cabin to put on swimsuits, we'd then take our pick of chairs as every chair on the main deck had a towel, yet there were no people in any of them! That's over 3 hours of holding chairs with towels, for what purpose? We'd stay up on deck until the band started up then head inside. No one ever came to claim the chairs... So yeah, I'll move their stuff.

Maybe next cruise we can share chairs? LOL... we don't get out of bed until 9am or so... have some breakfast... change... saunter out maybe 11 or 11:30... hehe But still we always manage to find chairs... It might not be beside the pool, but usually find something...

  11. When we come back from our MR cruise on the Jewel, I want to rent a car as well. Our flight back home isn't until 7:30pm out of LAX. I booked the flight first, before I checkout out the car rentals. If I had known you couldn't get a car rental close by on a Sunday, I would have booked an earlier flight home.

Now I need to find a solution. I've called both rental places Hertz & Enterprise and they have confirmed they will be closed, and there are no other rental places close by. sigh...

    What to do...???

  12. When are you charged the gratuity? Is it included here:

    Summary of Charges

    TOTAL 2 GUESTS $ 5,498.00

    GOV'T TAXES, FEES & PORT EXPENSES $320.70

    TOTAL $ 5,818.70

    Thanks!

WOW! This is how they are charging me and my wife:

Admin Fee (casino offer): Total: $400

Gov Tax / Port Exp/ Fees: Total: $249.08

    Bev Srv Charge: Total: $199.08

    Gross Total: $848.16

So in our case they are charging us a total of $199.08 in gratuities on a FREE package...

  13. It is interesting that it's leaving out of Vancouver and not Seattle, the regular Alaska port. I'm sure first time leaving from there will be fun.

We are stopping in Victoria BC, which would satisfy the foreign port but also its obviously closer to Vancouver.

As for the times, they are messed up on the website. But in my confirmation email, the times 'seem' correct and it says leaving Vancouver at 1:30am day 2 and arrive in Victoria at 8 the same morning.

Why would you say that Seattle is the regular Alaska Port? I live in Vancouver, and IMO, Vancouver is the regular Alaska Port... haha Maybe you know something that I don't? We have a fleet of cruise ships that sail to Alaska from Vancouver every year.

  14. Since they're already meeting PVSA requirements by leaving from Vancouver, I feel it's foolish to have Victoria as the next stop. That means no CBP preclearance in Vancouver (as next port is Canadian), and none in Victoria (they don't do it there, and even if they wanted to they couldn't handle 4000+ pax).

Which means San Francisco will have every single passenger doing US immigration. Pier 27 is not an efficient place for this to happen - we've done it on a significantly smaller vessel and folks were complaining bitterly about the queues... they have way space than at Canada Place so even if every desk is staffed it's going to take a looooooong time to get done.

I think they do it when you board the ship in Vancouver. At least that's the way it's been on our other Repositioning Cruises out of Vancouver.

  15. A PCC is just a different name for an in house travel agent. Of course they want you to book through them. They earn commission on it, just as a travel agent would. The only problem with using a PCC is they have a limited supply of things they can sell you, compared to a real travel agent.
