Hello Cruachan. These are absolutely brilliant photographs thank you very much. At the risk of repeating myself I wish we were there with you.I am so sorry the weather is not being kind to you. I look forward to tomorrow when hopefully you will have sobered up enough to post more. Enjoy the night.

Hello, Saddo here has been watching the Funchal web cams. It is alas raining and really quite windy. I still wish though that I could be there though. If my maths are correct, I estimate about 18,770 passengers will enjoy the fireworks. Maybe I can persuade my wife next year on Queen Victoria.

Hello, I have no experience of the Grills, but wow all those days on your first cruise, what a baptism of fire. All the very best I am sure it will not be your last. Have a wonderful time and keep us mere mortals up to date.

Hello, I have to agree about the room service. We always have coffee late afternoon, sometimes with cookies. I have to say the cookies of late have the wagon wheel effect, very good nonetheless.

Hello, whilst I totally agree New Years Eve seems like an obvious formal night, the on negative I can see is that a lot of people I am sure intended to go ashore. Just a thought.

Hello, I totally agree with a lot of the comments. The thought of my mother standing in, what in S****horpe we called the back ten foot, shouting Rodger come in it is " time for your high-tea " is great.I don't think I would show my face for a long time.
Working class ?, yes born there and still there. Cruise three times a year on Cunard, two land based holidays, nice detached house, Jaguar in the drive !!!.
I worked hard for all these. Never forget your roots.

Hello Merry Maid, I understand that a lot of the ships go into or stay in the bay, some say that is the best view. Alas I don't know as my wife will not relent and do a Christmas / New year cruise. It is a work in progress.

Hello, What a very polite and gentle reply Toad. You must be a very nice person to share a dining table with. I only drink beer but never have it on the table. On QE a little earlier this year, after we had changed tables, we were put next to the cabins table. One night one of the " guests " had three pints of Lager on the table.
Why is this web site so dreadfully slow ?.

Hello, you are fickle. Now admitting your crush on the Joanna, having accepted messages under your door from Polish gentlemen. I would have been having a word with one of the hierarchy about the Russian waiter.

Hello all. Got to give plug here for my local, Lincoln. It is allegedly the best in the country. Here is where the hypocrisy comes in though, I have never been. My wife and daughter went this year and I am pleased to say the sausage sandwich they had was Lincolnshire from a local farm. Price ? a lot.

Hello, We always eat late dinner and have drink in the Commodore.
The biggest problem we find is the waiters just keep on bringing food.
First crisps and a mixture of nuts, then cold canapes closely followed by hot ones. They will also, if you are not careful, replenish the crisps and nuts. Then dinner calls.

Hello, I had to read it twice as could not understand why Maureen would nudge the pier, I have been unwell , safe journey home and you may want to keep the note under the door from a Polish gentleman to yourself when you get there.

Hello, so Tothesunset messages being pushed under one man's door by another man. This kind of activity has not reached us in Lincolnshire yet.I am a little confused about Maureen Ryan. If she never gets off the ship, how can she have a career as a part time actress ?, Please have a safe onward journey and we all look forward to your next trip.

Hello,I am sure it has all been said many times, probably by better people than I.The main reason we have only done one cruise on QM2 is down to the Kings Court and nothing more.I really do struggle to find the words to describe it.Role on post refit as we would dearly love to try her again.

Keep it coming, Ranger. I think we are all taking vicarious pleasure in your adventures and what's this about being chased by all these ladies? Maybe that's why you're having trouble with your bow thruster?;)
Hello to Tothesunset I don't think Ranger mentioned if the note under the door was male or female ?.

QM2 or Queen Elizabeth
in Cunard Line
Posted · Edited by branston boy
Hello speedwell, I am biased our favourite ship is Queen Elizabeth. We do find the layout superior to Queen Mary. The Queens room in the centre of the ship to us is where it should be. The buffet to us on Queen Mary is at best a joke and words fail me at worst. We are waiting for the refit and then will sail Queen Mary again.
As Richard says put another feather in your cap.
Whichever you choose I hope, and am sure, you will enjoy.
