  1. Pleased with this 3rd party travel insurance. Used for trips to Russia. Will be buying again for next cruise. No claims so far (knock on wood) but very impressed with their customer service and competitive price. You can still get it even if you are no longer a USAA member (price may be different though).

  2. What? Does this apply to active duty? Armed Forces Recreation Centers should be for everyone who has eligibility to use military lodging, especially since I think taxpayer monies fund at least part of their operation.

I encourage everyone to voice their concern regarding this change via the Army Family Action Plan Conference (submit an issue) and the Retiree Council on their local military installation or through organizations like MOAA and AUSA (they are having a senior leadership conference right now and were looking for issues/concerns last week- probably too late for this year though.)

  3. So happy the Edge Club moved from Deck 2 to Deck 10! No problems with the Edge Club at all on our last cruise on the Magic (but it was the Northern Europe one which left prior to many schools being out so a lot less kids). But HUGE problems with noise and tweens running around Deck 2 on the Disney Wonder in 2013. Especially since the kids (both tweens and presumable teens) would hang out on the stairwell right outside Edge -midship- just beyond the "reach" of the counselors. This was often after 2am and security didn't do much. Most of the kids were traveling up to Deck 10 for food and up towards the teen club anyway- so they are now in close proximity to those things. Great move on Disney's part.

  4. For those Disney cruisers who have taken the Magic to Iceland, is the distance walkable from where the Magic docked in Reykjavik this past summer?

I thought I read that it was 2 miles, so I'm thinking its not. Did Disney provide a free shuttle bus to a centralized point in town like they did for the Baltic ports on the Northern Europe cruise this summer?

Maybe Reykjavik is a big place, so I'll narrow down what I would like to do...get to the BsI bus station to take the Reykjavik Excursions transfer bus to Blue Lagoon. Thinking of possibly doing this the evening that the Magic overnights there.

    Thanks in advance!

  5. We choose based on itinerary and price, not the ship.

Really enjoyed the Dream, but since we want the European ports the Magic suits us just fine. Haven't been on the Fantasy. The Wonder seemed to have a poor/lax "command climate', not as professional or friendly, and had uncontrolled kids from the Edge club and loud activities at the Edge club with programming until 2am (this was in 2012 so it may have changed). Programming for Edge on the Magic this past cruise ended around midnight and we had no problems with noise from tweens/teens. However this was the end of May, so only some schools were out for the summer and we were going to the Baltics- so less kids in general.

  6. I was totally impressed how well the laundry machines held up on the Magic during the May Baltic Cruise. TONS of laundry being done (at least on our deck) as there as there were many people doing back-to-backs with the Transatlantic and the Norway cruise that followed. I think only one dryer was broken for an hour or two the whole week. Of course this one lady was irate, but those machines virtually never got a rest! Our stateroom was right near the laundry room and there were people there at all hours... hint: don't give up if you see all the machines going because you could come back in 5 min and they're all available. Act fast!
