  1. Oh my, I loved reading your reviews in the past, your daughter has grown up, so glad she has a kind and caring young man in her life, I know my 16 & 15 year old grands have chosen well and we love their bf & gf like our own.  I think we were on the same ship in the past on NCL, we hve been on carnival for our last 2 and love them, we did the Mecican Riveria on NCL in 2018, we stayed at the same hotel, loved the Long Beach area, even though the ship did not leave from Long Beach, we didn't like the area for NCL used, can not remember the name of the place, but right next to Long Beach.  Love your stories!!

  2. We have always tipped with cash, I think they are happy with the extra, never had a bad experience with this.  The server even brought us an ice bucket to keep our bottled beer in as were sitting in the sun.  Not a bucket of beers as we had the cheers but a bucket to keep our open beers in and our bottled water to keep them cold.

  3. It has been a long time since we were in Nassau, looks like they have improved the port area from a you tubes that I came across.  Thought about staying on the ship but might get off to check it out, looking forward to more info on here.

  4. Hi, we are also sailing this cruise, we have sailed with NCL before and we loved it, we met a great mix of people, loved it, I hope you will be pleasantly surprised.  I have not found much information on this site for our cruise, that has disappointed me, maybe I do not know how to search, but I found your post. LOL.  We were on the Carnival Horizon this past December and found hundreds of post about it, we joined a group on another social media site and had over 400 on that site, we planned some fun stuff, even a pre cruise get together in Miami the night before our cruise.  My family of 4 is myself, husband, son and his wife.  Are you flying in ahead of time?  We are coming in on the 18th and plan to stay in Long Beach, seems to be a decent area close to the cruise port with a few more options than San Pedro.  Hope you enjoy the cruise and we might bump into you along the way.

  5. Can someone help me understand how this works.  I am booked with a TA, first time to use a TA.  I see the price has dropped by $ 60/person, I asked about a price reduction for our booking but she says that our category is sold out so no price drop for us.  Final payment is not for another month.

If that category is sold out why do they show a price drop?  I'm sure there is a reason, I just don't get it.

  6. Just booked yesterday and took our usual Ultimate Bev/dining free at sea offers and also got a $ 50 shore excursion per port credit. Has anyone experienced this offer?  I want to make reservations for the shore excursion I want but it is not showing a $ 50 credit.  Any advice?  This for a Oct 2019 cruise on the Bliss.

  7. Hi all, we are cruising on Oct 20, 2019.  We will fly into LAX on Oct 18, we have 2 nights before the cruise, any suggestions on where to stay?  I know we will leave from San Pedro terminal but not sure there is enough to do right in the area for 2 days, Long Beach looks maybe a little more to offer and maybe more hotel options.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

IF you search for the booking, put it on hold.  Then go back and make the deposit you don’t have to enter the names. It will be TBA. You can then wait it out without penalty.

If you do enter the names and the rship doesn’t make it to 2020, then you will lose the deposit (whatever the deposit is now). Names changes arent allowed, you have to cancel old Gf and pay a new deposit for the new person.

Did not even know this was possible!! Thanks for the info.

  9. We are cruising on Dec 1 on the Horizon, I've seen a post that mentioned a Tri-Rail train from FLL to Miami, anyone have experience with it? I've looked it up on the web, seems easy enough and really inexpensive option, we are flying in on the 30th so we have the day before the cruise to get where we need to be. Sounds like we can take it and go to a Metro rail (not sure that's the exact name) station and get on a monorail to the downtown area where we are staying and only a couple of blocks to the hotel.

Sounds almost to easy, looking for input from anyone that has experience with this as a transportation option.

  10. My 77 year old mom just broke her ankle in 3 places 2 days ago. She will need surgery next week Wednesday to get plates and screws to repair it.

We are going on an Alaskan cruise on 8/21 so now I have to figure out the mobility issues she will have. It will be me, mom and my 12 year old dd going.

Dr. says she cant even step on that foot until 8/20 or so. We are flying in and not sure what to do about a wheelchair/knee scooter etc?

Anyone have any good ideas about handling her mobility needs getting on the cruise and during the cruise? What about excursions, are they accessible? Does it say anywhere which ones are?

Thanks in advance for any advice...this has been a bucket list cruise that we have been planning since jan 2017...there is no way she isn't going :)

I would not take her, my husband had surgery on October 10th, 2017 and was not back to normal for a good 5 months and that was after threapy, we had a December trip to Florida already paid for but we canceled and I am glad we did, he was so worn out everyday just doing the trips to the bathroom and moving around the house, he is 22 years younger than your mom and is very active in his daily life, she will be tired just getting around in a chair or a wheel cart, I would change my plans if I were in your shoes. Good luck and I hope for her to have a speedy recovery.

  11. 7 day cruise would win in my book!! lol, I have sailed the Triumph twice, once in 2002 & 2007, no issue either time. Texas is a big state to drive thru, my home state but now I live in Michigan. Good luck choosing and have fun. We are on the Horizon but not till December.

  12. So I do not cruise until December 1st and I have not made my travel arrangements yet, at the check in can I just mock up fake flights then edit to the correct information when plans are finalized? Not sure if I really need to do this or not, how far in advance of your cruise can you make reservations for specialty dinners and such?? Any reason for me to rush the process?

  13. Someone told me that with the Cheers package that you can order a drink that is valued up to $50 a drink, he said that you could order a double or triple shot of liquor and only be charged for 1 drink as long as you stay under the $50 value.

Have any of you tried this? Just curious if that is the case. We cruise in December 2018, it will be our first time to have the option to buy the Cheer's drink package as we cruised way back in 2000 & 2002, we bought drink tickets at that time.
