  1. Were doing the Nassau/St Thomas/Tortola itinerary in February. We’re doing this cruise solely for the ship. The first time we’ve ever done that.

But for us the ship is a bigger draw than any of the ports. We’ve been to Nassau 7 times. St Thomas once. Tortola never. We’re going to get off the boat in Nassau to buy some rum. Then we’re treating it as a sea day and exploring the ship. I’m eager to get back to St Thomas & to see Tortola. But really, I’m only there for the ship.

  2. Great thread!!

Wanted to do the food tour (which was recommended to me by a non cruiser) next time we are in Nassau. Good to hear that Carol recommends it too (and Bob).

The other stop we have to do is the John Waitling´s Rum Factory. This time for the shop only - to restock our "supplies" ;).

FYI-there's a liquor store down by the Tortuga shop that sells Watlings for the same price as the distillery. Save you a trip up there unless you want to do the tour again.

  3. This place gets good reviews. We did not get a chance to try it as we had limited time when we were there last month. We went to Lukka Kaira right on the waterfront and it was very good

    +1 for Bahamian Cookin

Their food is awesome. Get some Switcha to drink too. We also recommend the food tour & Athena's.

  4. In January we're taking a family cruise on Allure. The in laws will watch the kids while we go to dinner. What would you choose? Chef's Table, 150 Central Park, giovanni's or Chops. We've both ate at chops before. We're already doing Samba Grill with family.

  5. We're going on Allure in January with my kids 13,11 & 7. I know the 13 y.o. Will have to pay the adult price at specialty restaurants, but will my other 2? Do they have a kids menu or do they order off the adult menu?

Should I make the reservations for the kids at the same time or just tell them onboard that we have kids along. I had read it's better to not make reservations for the kids & just tell them you have kids to add on once you're onboard.

    Thanks!

  6. Sailing on allure In January. This is the largest ship we've ever been on. Do we have to do anything special as far as shows go? I've only been on enchantment, majesty & navigator and they don't require reservations.

    Any shows/activities you recommend?

Also what restaurants are must do's onboard? We'll have our 3 kids along so they'll be eating with us. Thanks!

  7. I won a cruise playing bingo on our last trip. DH & I have decided we're going to take our kids who will be 13, 11 & 7. They've never cruised. We're going to have other family going along as well. We have it narrowed down to 2.

-Allure going to Nassau, St Thomas & St Maarten, leaving out of ft lauderdale.

-Liberty going to Roatan, Belize & Cozumel, leaving out of Galveston.

We'd like to do the big ship as we've never done one, but DH & I have been to Nassau 3 times & to St Maarten. We like the itinerary for the Liberty but worry that it's not going to have enough to hold the kids interests. Any of the ports better than the other for families?

    So which would you choose?

A few other questions-does the allure have more to do for the kids than the liberty? Are the kids programs better on one vs the other? Can we leave the ship & leave the kids onboard? I'm worried there won't be enough to do.

    Thoughts?
