  1. These guys were absolutely phenomenal. Early both times and great rates. Mercedes sedan with bottled water, WIFI hotspot in the car, and english-speaking drivers.

I highly, highly, highly, recommend them. I cannot imagine having to deal with the train and cab and then lugging your bags all the to the ship...its probably 2 miles and the weather is always a question mark. If you're going to splurge anywhere, do it here.

  2. Bought 2 passes on the May 4th sailing out of Rome. Our trip was unique in that there was a contingent of 3000 Chinese on a corporate getaway. They either didn't know about it or didn't want it, as they all boarded in Barcelona before us and when we got on-board at noon in Rome we walked right up and bought them no problem.

    Are the loungers better? 100%

Is it cool to use that elevator? I guess...

Would I do it again? Probably not.

The issue is the wind. We found ourselves forcing our way out there to use it to "get our money's worth" and then heading back inside to avoid the gusts.

  3. Just disembarked Epic today in Rome. We had a unique experience as there was a contingent of 3000 Chinese people on a corporate type trip on our cruise. So either they didn't know about Posh or didn't want it, but they all got on in Barcelona and we got on 3 days later in Rome, and walked right up to Guest Services and got a weekly pass ($59USD per person) instantly.

Here's the issue: wind. Are the chairs more comfortable? Without a doubt. Does it feel neat to use that 'private' elevator? I guess. But even as a couple who loves to lay out in the sun, my wife and I would probably not buy them again. Just too windy. We essentially found ourselves forcing our way on deck to have drinks there just to get use out of it. And then would head back inside.

Those far aft decks were never crowded, but there's also no service up there of any kind. I'd suggest them for someone who just wants to read or sleep. Stick to Spice H20 for best combo of wind protection, service, and sun.

  4. Just disembarked Epic today. Cannes is the only port I would consider for a beach. They're beautiful and busy. However imo I would rather spend my day in Cannes along the streets and countless cafes and shops. It's like Beverly Hills meets San Diego on the South of France. My wife and I both agreed by far it was our favorite stop. And being avid beach/pool goers, would still do what we did instead. Save the beach for the Caribbean ports :)

  5. Admittedly, it may be due to the fact that I work in hospitality in Las Vegas, but I think in general tourists are naturally overly critical about anything regarding a vacation. It's their time, and their money, and standards are subsequently risen. I would take everything in a review with a grain of salt.

You could have everything go right the entire visit, but if it took them 3 hours to disembark, the trip is an F. :)

I am on Epic on May 4 for my honeymoon. Can't wait. The one main thing I did do based on balcony reviews was to get a cabin with the bed away from the door. Other than that, see you at the pool bar!

  6. Cirque Dreams on NCL is a totally separate outfit from Cirque du Soleil (there have been legal disputes over the confusingly similar names), and there is really no comparison between the two shows. But you can't see a Cirque du Soleil show anywhere for $10 including dinner (price of the cheap seats with a dining package), so it would be unreasonable to expect the same level of skill/production on NCL.

Here's a thread comparing Cirqu eon BA with Cirque du Soleil in Vegas:

Breakaway Cirque vs Las Vegas Cirque du soleil

If there is only one sea day on your itinerary, that may be the day everyone goes crazy with their UBP, so by showtime many people may be passed out somewhere and miss their reservations… :p

Ha, probably true. Thank you for the info. Sidenote: when you live in Vegas the Cirque shows are free :)

  7. Is this a show that is continuing on after the recent refurb? Living in Vegas I have seen every Cirque show a number of times (spoiled brat, I know) so I am wondering if it is on par with their skill level. Also, are sea days usually much busier for these types of things? We only have one on our western med. itinerary so I would imagine that night is chaos.
