  1. I just did this last February on the Carnival Splendor. My niece and her parents were in a room and I was solo. I was told also they don't care where you sleep.  I just asked for another room key without making any changes to booking on board (no questions are asked). She stayed on the account of her parents room but slept in my cabin. No issues at all. We had the cabins linked so when dining all 4 of us were together and cabin did not matter

  2. Very rare. I have only seen it once in the last 10+ years

and that was earlier this year pandemic related. I took advantage last time and found it again yesterday, the lower RU codes are great though I understand some of the codes didn't save much.  I may take advantage again  but I doubt they will ever do it after the pandemic

  3. Out of curiosity went back to recheck here is what I see; and again I love Princess and this one is 6 days longer I picked the 14 day as it was closer to the time frame I wanted may have missed where you started from but both came out more than I have with Carnival and I love the thought of touching down in Scotland and Ireland. .  Even with flight to London I'll come out better and I get to have a few days visit in London.  Fewer sea days a plus also for me.

Great thing about cruising we each get to make our own choices. Premium Balcony won't be as nice as a mini suite but Perfectly fine for me. Always enjoy my Carnival even if not as elegantimage.thumb.png.08171bb019fc4e3207438a8528930e83.png for Carnival vs 16 4800 vs 11000

  4. Thanks for the heads up. I booked. Since I had Alaska balcony planned for that time frame and it was so expensive this one didn't look as pricy in comparison 🙂 And much more exotic.

I looked at that Princess cruise 14 day Iceland/british isles and MUCH more expensive for me at least since I got a premium balcony for $4880 and they start inside at $3258, if I went mini suite for a similar room it was $5558 without the promos.  I like princess but for the savings I'll stay with carnival for this one

I did recheck and I did have a casino hot streak bonus so that probably helped

  5. I've been following some vloggers.Enjoy this couple and they were definitely experiencing noise from below on their interior havana in some of their vlogs. Put very nicely as that is how they are but they were joking about name that tune from the thumps from below. I'm not sure if it was this one but I think there is a tour on it and you could look through their others. They are Havana this leg and Spa interior on the one they are just starting

  6. Denise, I bought a couple of the shirts, not sure if the sizing is right for you. One is basic T shirt and one is the one with quarter length sleeves (sorry forgot what the type is called, actually like that one better but again I don't really wear cruise swag or T shirts in general, not sure why I bought the but I did like the pattern and bought on impulse. They haven't been worn.  If the sizes work for you I'll send them to you.

I'll look at the sizes today. Not sure how we can connect though since no instant messenger. If you are comfortable putting email I'll email you the sizes.

The trip was amazing by the way. We had the grand scenic oceanview, perfect for the Panama Canal. Rough seas but since no seasickness actually enjoyed that. Ports were great and some of the most amazing sunrise, sunset's I've seen on a cruise.  Enjoyed the panama canal transit also. Always wondered why people recommend this cruise and now I know. Now we want to go back and try the old locks.

  7. Just home from a freedom cruise in 9201.  You are going to love, love that room.  I'm having a hard tie sailing without those lovely two windows.  Room steward was great and the beds were amazingly soft. Not sure if they had a rehab but haven't been that comfortable in years on a carnival bed. Nothing like waking up and just laying in a soft bed watching the sunrise and ocean.

I did come home and start looking for a 2021 cruise. The grand scenic's were not showing but I called and like I have heard here they actually were available but not showing on the website. Strange but happy to know I can still snag them. Glory 2021 9200.  Haven't done that ship for awhile, didn't even really care about the itinerary just wanted that lovely room again.

  8. I always check with the website insure  my trip. It does a comparison of all the plans and is very easy to navigate. It gives you alot more for your money than the Carnival insurance.

I always seem to end up with Travel safe or Travelguard as they have principal insurance coverage (so I don't have to go through my own insurance first)

I actually had to use the Travelsafe on one trip when my sister had a heart attack in Dominica. Never travel without it.

  9. About half of my cruises I went solo and while the first felt a bit awkward I quickly realized how amazing it can be. I agree people are friendly on the most part if I wanted to chat.  Excursions it doesn't matter if you are solo or with someone. Never felt I was out of place either with Carnival or external operators. We all go as a group anyway and people were friendly.

I've been travelling with family the last year of so and have to admit I am almost hoping someone will cancel so I can enjoy that cabin to myself and do anything I want without worrying about the other person:)   Both solo and with company are great, but there is something wonderful about a solo cruise and just having total freedom to relax or be involved.

And nothing like that cruise cabin to yourself..

Hope i t works out and you find you enjoy it as much as other solo travelers. Check out the solo boards for some encouragment also. It has some great people with great ideas.

  10. My list for the searches. Grand scenic oceanviews are worth the work to get one. Wonderful rooms

Sunshine - 4 person Grand scenic

Valor: 2 person and 4 person Grand scenic

  11. My niece and I did this last year in Cozmel and I agree it was a lot of fun. Leaders were lively and fun and everyone there really joined in with the salsa making (and drinking of course) We had a great time. Can't say the margarita's were the best I've had a bit watery but really didn't matter since having so much fun with the salsa making etc.

I'm actually going again with my sister when we go to Mazatlan. Hopefully it will be in as lovely a location as it was in Cozumel.

As a side note my niece bought a Tshirt "intoxicologist" that she loved, it was black and unfortunately took it to my house with white cats...big mistake and couldn't get the hair out.

Called to see if I could re-order a new one for her and they said "hey we have someone coming to the states, tell you what we'll send you one as a gift" and they did. Talk about unexpected. Fun people who love what they do.

  12. I have always bought it, just considered it part of the fare and was I glad I had a habit.

My sister ended up with a heart attack on Dominica; I guess it was almost two years ago. It took us 2 days to get off the island due to limited flights(hotel, last minute flights home; carnival medical center fees; the "clinic" or whatever it is didn't bill which is a good thing since it was apalling and we only found out it was a heart attack after arriving home and getting checked out).

I can only think we ended up in the free clinic due to conditions there no sheets, pillows, rusted out beds and bathroom flooded. Made me greatful for what we have at home. Felt much safer at the hotel where we could call a doctor if she worsened since I ended up paying extra for a very nice hotel for the quiet mainly. Carnival medical care was actually excellent on the ship and I understood why we had to be put off the ship since they had to leave and she wasn't improving, but hope never to experience that again. I love Dominica but not for medical care for sure.

Of course the other piece of advice I'm glad I followed was having credit cards available with a high enough limit to cover the costs since trip insurance doesn't pay until after.I was able to keep her in a quiet hotel until we could get a flight home (it was Carnival and no way she could walk up the steps at the first suggested hotels) . I still have nightmares of what it would have been like to be stuck without the money to make the arrangements. As it was things worked out, painfully but they did work out

Ended up after lots of paperwork the trip insurance paid back the close to $4000 with flights, taxi, hotel, our port guide who assisted us the three days etc etc. Definitely paid for all the travel insurance fees I have paid out.

I buy mine through insuremytrip though I always seem to end up with Travelex or Travelsafe after looking over the options. I like having it primary insurance so I don't have to put all the paperwork through the primary insurance at home first.

  13. I haven't stayed there yet but am cruising in Dec and ended up chosing the Comfort suites Miami airport north. Free breakfast and free shuttle to port great reviews on trip advisor and a reasonable cost.

We were getting in later in evening so hotel close to airport seemed like a good idea on this trip and plus was the free shuttle both from airport to hotel and then to port.
