  1. I submitted my paperwork on Dec 29, 2022.  Received the automated email response.  Still hadn't heard anything or seen the OBC added to my account by January 10th.  I called and was told I had to talk to my PCC. Spoke to the PCC  on the 10th and sent her the same information that I sent in on 12/29.  Checked with her today, she followed up with her supervisor and now finally the OBC shows up on our account.  Our cruise leaves next Monday.

  2. we had a situation where we had to file a dispute due to a fradualent business opportuinity.  While it had nothing to do with NCL or any cruise line, the process should be similar.  Each credit card issuer processes disputes in a similar fashion but some cards are quicker to resolve the case than others.  American Express was by far the easiest card company to deal with.  With all the cards, we were issued immediate provisional credit.  We had to provide written responses a number of times.  Outside of American Express, it took at least 60 days (sometimes longer) before the dispute was considered closed.

In my opinion, it would be better to wait for NCL to process your refund.  They are swamped with all kinds of refunds and FCC issues right now.  Again, each card issuer is different.  Our situation was not the same but it was a time consuming process.

  3. I am sorry this happened to you.  A really good example of why it is important to check your account statement frequently before the end of the cruise.  We were on the SKy for a 3 day cruise and the morning of disembarkation I discovered the spa had inadvertantly charged another lady's services to my stateroom because we had the same first name and they grabbed the wrong key card  or so they said.  Anyway, got it resolved but it was a frustration at the end of the cruise.

I hope you can get it resolved with out too much hassle.  We recently had to dispute some credit card charges because of a fraud issue that had nothing to do with NCL.  Some credit card issuers are easier to deal with than others and the process can take quite a while. We have been working on the issue for 4 months and it is almost resolved!  I wish you good luck and speedy resolution!

  4. Please let me know how you like the Breakaway!  I put the the Haven Spa suite on hold on Friday to grab  the OBC offer and then somehow with the time change or something it dissappeared from my NCl.com account.  I was supposed to have until tomorrow to pay the deposit.  I freaked out but was able to get in touch with my PCC and she put the info back on hold.  Have to decide by tomorrow noon and pay the deposit.  Thanks for your input!

  5. I keep changing my mind between two itineraries in July.  We currently live in Florida so I plan to leave from Miami.  I am celebrating a major milestone birthday in July.  I would like to accumulate emough points (need 9 pts) to be a platinum by November.  My choices of cruises are a 5 day out of Miami on the Sky (none of which are available for my actual birthday).  I would either need to be in a suite in order to get double points or do a 5 day followed by a 4 day in any cabin.  or take a Breakaway cruise the week of my birthday.  We could do a suite or Haven in order to get double points .  However, the Breakaway's itinerary is the Western Caribbean which isn't one of my favorite routes.  I am leaning towards the Haven spa suite since that will get us into all the Haven perks.  I know no one can make the decision for me... just wondering if anyone has any wisdom to impart on things I might not be thinking about.

The breakaway is a big ship and we prefer the smaller ships.  But if in the Haven area, maybe we won't think it is so big and crowded.  If I have the thermal suite access and the Haven access I wouldn't have to leave the ship so it wouldn't matter that the ports aren't my favorite.  I have seen a lot of negative reviews on the Breakaway but that may be because people are more prone to complain than to praise.

We were on the Sky several years ago.  It was easy to get around.  My husband loved GSC.  I want to go to Key West again.  We are neutral on the Bahamas.  The Sky doesn't have the HAven area or the thermal suites.

What else am I missing?  The price for the 7 day Breakaway in the Haven Spa suite is roughly $1,000 more than 5 day/4 day Sky option .  I don't remember the difference for the suite level 5 day on the Sky.  It seemed like a lot of money for just 5 days.... when I could spend a bit more and get the actual Haven for 7.

    thanks!

  6. I also prefer the jewel class and the dawn class ships. We dont have young children so dont need all the extra things the big ships have. I am trying to plan a birthday trip and the only ship with a week long cruise that works with my birthday week is the breakaway...just cant get excited about it so i think i will just either wait or put two sky trips together as. B2B. I want to leave from miami so that is also a limitation.

Anyway, i agree the bigger ships need to work on their crowd control.

Price > destination > ship, but it's gotta be a ship I want to be on.  I like the big ships, but I wasn't into the Encore so much because my favorite area is Spice H20.

I'd actually love to do the Southern Caribbean itinerary early next year on the Epic, but the cost of flights to San Juan are KILLING me.  It's got me considering going on a Celebrity Apex cruise instead, balcony rooms on that new ship look like a really good deal right now even though it'll be a set of Caribbean destinations we've already done.

the Jade is scheduled to do Southern Caribbean out of Tampa starting in November!   We are planning on doing the first on in November but I think there is a January option also.  I know the Jade doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the big ships but there should be pretty reasonable flights from Indy to Tampa!

  8. There is a box near the left hand corner that says "cant find your reservation?" . You can fill your info in there I think and that should help you find it.   May need to check that your latitude # is linked to your reservation.  Some times my husband's doesn't follow him for some reason.  I think that might have been when we used a TA but it doesn't hurt to check.

  9. There are 150 passengers on the windstar star pride.  Everyone knows your name by the end of the first day. The service level is similar  yet different if that makes sense.  We havent tried the sailing ships, just the yachts.

There arent a lot of shows, restaurants, activities..

It is more relaxed. They don't have a lot for kids.   I dont believe they have a concierge, you don't really need one.

It is smaller, more intimate , more personalized. If we werent so close to being platinum on NCL and if windstar left from miami , we would probably cruise more with windstar.

We still love NCL . I hope i made some sense

  10. My husband and I did two cruises On windstar's star pride out of San Juan in 2018. The ship was small but the service was wonderful.  It was a refreshing change from the bigger mass market ships.  I definitely recommend looking at their itineraries.

We normally sail in an inside storeroom but managed to win an upgrade to the Haven from a mini suite in the Jade in November.  It was a wonderful experience even tho the jade doesn't have a haven restaurant or bar.  We got very spoiled on that voyage.

  11. I also cant answer your question about cruisenext certificates.  I am sorry to hear about your Dad. Hospice caregivers are so wonderful . The company often times has grief programs and chaplains if the family requests them.  You and your family will be in my thoughts.

  12. I was looking at the last minute winter getaways this morning.  I could swear I saw a little icon that said "strawberries & wine" right underneath the free at sea icon.  It was there when I went to find a stateroom and by the time it finally pulled up the staterooms after buffering forever..... it was gone!  Anyone else see it ?  It was a 3 day Miami , Key West , Nassau, Miami in early March.  I was really curious to find out what the strawberry & wine offer was because I haven't see that one before!  Maybe I am going crazy and starting to see things!

  13. One of the initial reports I read quoted the mother as saying the child had a cut on his eye before they boarded and it then became infected after they were on the ship. Then the tv stations in Florida made it sound like the child fell on the ship, injured his eye and got infected.   I feel bad for the child regardless of when it happened. The cruise line medical center did not refuse them care, the child received care. Not free care.  I agree that if the captain and drs truly felt it was life threatening, arrangements would be made to get the child to a.hospital.  we were on a cruise in November and we had several medical situations involving transporting patients off the ship .

The mom didn't want to be stuck in Mexico. I understand that but that was her choice.

I hope the child is recovering.
