  1. Are passengers allowed to bring cheese and bread or crackers onboard on departure day? Also, what about cured meat such as Serrano Ham? We would like to bring some specialty cheeses, from home, to enjoy with our champagne and wine during sail away. We will be with friends and thought this would be a great start to our vacation together. This would be for consumption in our suite.

    I know fruit is forbidden?

  2. Ginger capsules work amazingly well. They are not drugs, they are food. You should not get light headed or drowsy from them.

I am the poster child for motion sickness. I have tried all the pharmaceuticals and have felt all of the ill effects from them. I'm not sure which is worse.

Ginger is a hot root and some people complain about burping the taste, but most people have no ill effects. I take 3 capsules the night before travel, 3 capsules in the morning, then 2 capsules several times a day while traveling by car, bus, train and/or boat. I haven't been motion sick once while taking ginger. I have been using it for 30 years. The important thing is to start taking it before the journey begins.

Ginger root also works well, after meals, for calming an upset stomach. Meals can be much different while traveling than what is normally consumed at home.

Talk to your health care professional about using ginger and consider interactions with any medication you may take. There is a lot of information about using ginger for motion sickness available.

  3. Labadee is a private compound for RCI ships exclusively. You can see the ship from almost anywhere in the compound. The sandy beaches are the ones going toward Columbus Cove. The ones by Dragon's Plaza have a somewhat rocky bottom and swimming is not permitted on the far side.

You can walk anywhere from the ship in about 15 minutes and there is a tram, if you choose not to walk. One could easily get off and on the ship multiple times while in port.

With a 3 year old, I would recommend getting off the ship early, having some beach time, then returning to the ship for lunch. The BBQ lunch in Labadee leaves much to be desired, especially for a 3 year old.

Afternoon pool time on the ship will be less crowded and quieter. The little one may even be able to nap poolside.
