Any Tribe members who watch Survivor are you watching Deal or No Deal The Island?

Watched yesterday as I am a Boston Rob fan...pretty interesting.  It's all about mind playing games and Rob is good at that

Yes it’s actually quite fun to watch and really has some twists for game play for those that are smart and lucky enough to navigate the game

  2. Just got off the Escape today, it was a Halloween cruise and we have decorated our door for years no problem.  This time it was just a simple smiling pumpkin not scary or anything very g rated and we used magnets to hang it up, third day when we came back to cabin it was hanging on inside our door instead of outside we thought boy that’s weird and placed it back outside.  Following morning we got a call from management saying no door decorations and to take it down.  So as soon as my husband stepped outside to take it down the room steward was right they’re saying thank you for taking it down.  Oh well they must have their reasons but we did always enjoy decorating it was fun and harmless.

Here is a question about the bidding process:

Let's say that you have an insider cabin now but want to be in a balcony.  An Oceanview upgrade is not much money.

What gives you a better chance of successfully bidding on a balcony?

Assume that both scenarios cost the same:  Is it better to pay a small upgrade to get to Oceanview and then bid near minimum on the Balcony, or is it better to bid substantially above the minimum and hope for a double upgrade?

You can’t bid for ocean view and then once awarded turn around and get the invite to bid again, if you bid on both but only want the balcony bid on the balcony only but if your happy with either then bid on both and see if you luck out on either

First cruise so all new to me...currently have 3 of us booked in an inside cabin on the Prima in August.  The upgrade offers are to a Club Balcony Suite (from $600pp), a Balcony Stateroom (from $300pp), or an Oceanview Stateroom (from $175pp).  If I bid and win, I understand that the upgrade cost will only be charged for 2 people but it seems that the upgrades aren't necessarily for 3 people.  As far as I can tell from the website a regular Club Balcony Suite is for 2 people as is the regular Oceanview and the regular Balcony (they don't say Family).  Am I understanding this correctly and shouldn't risk bidding? Thanks!

No the system will know their is 3 in your current room and will take that into the equation and will only award you an upgrade to a cabin that accommodates 3 in a room, good luck and remember patience is key

    Bon Voyage !

Off to a good start with quick & smooth check-in, ship came back very early & should've reached zero count by 10 am (if not sooner ... as you often see last groups "staggering" off with luggage, not in a hurry to leave)

Go check out that satellite WiFi access (probably still on EMC and not yet switched over to Starlink) - marine conditions for your 2 days sailing southbound looks favorable & getting into PC early for a full day is far, far better than a 1 pm (sometimes late) arrival.  Forecast for GSC can be self-checked using Windy App, for now - looks better than 50:50 for next Wed - on the windy side and waves at 5 ft. could be iffy but still too early to be reliable, afterall, GA made it earlier this week & they enjoyed a full day there.

    Happy cruising and following along.

Thank you looking forward to Port Canaveral for sure.  We are picking up a rental car at 8 am and got up to the space center area.  There is a ton of various wildlife venues to look for all sorts for alligators. Migrator birds including flamingos, manatees and dolphins.  We lived down in that area years ago so very familiar with the area.

thanks for checking out the maritime conditions for us.

A hypothetical question.  Why do people book the same  ship multiple times?  Is it that you really like it or very convenient?  We were on the Breakaway twice only because the second time was the first NCL ship after the pandemic.  We also tried the Joy and the Getaway and to me they seemed like the same exact ship except for some shows and dining.  We like to try new experiences while sailing.

That being said I hope you have a wonderful trip and looking forward to your review.

We’ve been on 15 the only one we don’t enjoy are the smaller ships.  Did the Dawn twice and it was fine but just not as much assorted activities for our personal taste.  Our favorite is  either the Bliss or the Escape more leaning towards the Escape since although the Bliss has observation lounge it does not have dueling pianos.  Oh also we enjoy the Epic because of the large spice H20.  Will probably try Prima next spring

  7. Mking8288,

thanks for looking at track of the ship it’s good to know their will only be the regular craziness at the terminal I appreciate it.  The Breakaway last fall only had 2 regular tables at the back the rest were the high top, which just doesn’t work for short middle aged legs, if we aren’t able to eat their it’s no big deal but we shall see.

  8. My first cruise was as a teenager with my parents on Costa Carla “C” we had a inside cabin somewhere in the bowels of the ship had to take the stairs to get to the cabin and you also had to step over the weird water proof door hatch’s on the floor. Surprisingly the cabin itself was not real small and the bathroom was probably the size of our whole cabin on the Epic on inside cabin.  The food and service were amazing.

I was just off a 12-day sailing on her exactly a week ago today (ouch, a week already?) and I'm looking forward to jumping back onboard with you!  Let me know if you have any last minute questions about the ship.

Thanks for the offer we should be good to go, this will be third time on Gateway and we were just on Breakaway last fall.

I did want to thank you Pete for a great review though your pictures were lovely.

  10. Now that all the extra paperwork for COVID and testing to cruise is over we find that getting thru the lines at the cruise terminal fast and efficient and we always eat at Taste or Savor since it’s not a zoo like the buffet will be.  Not looking forward to the in person muster drills but again going with the flow.  The worst part of those drills is after the drill getting to where you want to be the elevators are just jammed up for awhile and I know our muster will be taste or savor.  When we had it in atrium we always just let the server know what to bring us to drink right after the drill, and we would just chill and let the hoard fight over the elevators.

  11. Packing is all done early afternoon we will drive from coastal CT down to Ridgefield Park, NJ and stay at the Hampton Inn.  The have a cruise and park package which includes shuttle to and from Manhattan cruise terminal. It’s about the same price as parking at the pier for the 8 nights we just find it less stressful.  We have driven this drive 4 times and it just so depends on traffic and the way Siri routes you to avoid it, it’s taken anywhere between 3 to 5 hours.

  12. This will be our third time on the Getaway, so we are very familiar with the layout and I find it is quite easy to get around.  We have 4 specialty meals, 3 booked the 4th one we will reserve once on the ship.  It’s been our tradition to have La Cucina the first night and Cagney the last night but we reversed it this time.  We also haven ocean blue booked, and we may just do Cagney again or moderno.  We used to like Le Bistro but not since they changed their menu, and we did the Japanese place last cruise.  We will try and see if we can get into the noodle restaurant once this time but since I’m only 4 ft 10 in I can’t sit comfortably on their high top tables but the do have a couple regular tables as well so we are going to see if their is any way they can accommodate us one evening with the regular tables.

  13. Laundry in the dryer and have a list of the errands we need to get before the cruise so packing and final planning are underway

Just checked inventory and everything with the exception of a few stray insides are sold out.

We will miss not being at 59% capacity on the Joy last May and 82% capacity on the Gateway last October but we’ve been on sold out sailings before we will have a great experience we always do.
