  1. I typically get 1-2 of these "upgrade" emails for every cruise I book. Usually, I look up the retail rate of what they are offering and find that it isn't a great deal. I have, only once, in my cruise history actually received an offer that was too good to pass up.

  2. Thank you for all of the insight and pics! I think we will give it a go. I found a taxi company that will pick our group up at the port and transport us to and from for $20 per person. The only concern I have is I have now read multiple people say that the water can be rough at times. I am going to be watching the forecasts leading up to the cruise.

  3. I have seen quite a few people suggest Sapphire Beach, so I am trying to get some more info about it. I found somewhere online that a taxi will cost approx. $13 per person. Is this accurate? Also, according to Google Maps it is around a 20 min ride? I see that there is an excursion through Carnival, but it seems like you do not get a whole lot of time actually at the beach. We are in port from 11:30-7 so I am figuring that if we just take a taxi over, we will have multiple hours to spend on the beach. Can anyone confirm how easy it is to get a taxi back to the ship? Also any other tips or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

  4. Can you please tell me more about booking Atlantis directly through the resort? Any information you think would be helpful would be appreciated.
You can go directly to Atlantis's website and purchase a day pass for whichever experience you want to do. They ask which cruise line you are on which you may have to verify once there. The taxis will take you straight to the ticket office where you get the wristbands for your excursion. There is risk though, I don't think refunds are available if your ship doesn't make the port.

  5. Can you please say more about getting a taxi from the port to Atlantis? It seems so chaotic once you get outside the port gates, just wondering how you get a taxi. Seems to me that the street is just lined up with vans taking pre purchased excursions
We went with one of the guys inside the gates. We had to wait 5-10 minutes for him to find another family to fill his van, but it was an easy process. They take you straight to Atlantis. Just tell someone you need a taxi, they will find one for you.

  6. It's so funny. I drink every night at home, but I never buy cheers. I don't drink near as much on a cruise as I do at home so it never makes sense financially. I will say, I have never been disappointed about a pour on a ship. I drink bourbon on the rocks and even the singles are better than you will get at any restaurant around here.

  7. They really push the usage of the Carnival HUB on your cellphone. You are suppose to be able to see the Fun Times, check your account, see the menus, etc.

Question about this, I have downloaded the app!!! Do you have to use wifi to use this option on your phone for the Carnival Hub or can it be on Airplane mode to use?

It instructs you to set your phone on airplane mode and then turn only wifi back on. That way you can connect to the ship's wifi and use the app. We enjoy it because you can favorite events in the fun times and it will remind you when they are getting close.

  8. Never fails to amuse me how rule breakers try to justify their actions.

We are all rule breakers in some aspect of life, so unless you are certain your glass house is shadder proof, keep your rocks to yourself. My point is there is a lesson to be learned by Carnival from us rule breakers. There is an equilibrium price point for their room delivered alcohol and it seems they have gone beyond it. They should do some market research and maybe we wouldn't smuggle liquor.

  9. What I don't understand is the liquor they sell in the fun shops. Even with the duty free discount I have yet to see anything that I drink for less than what I pay at the Winn- Dixie liquor store. I thought it was supposed to be some great deal?? I also agree 100% about the high prices being why people smuggle. I like to have some whiskey in my room for a night cap etc.. but I'm not going to pay a 200% mark up for it, so I bring some of my own and I still spend PLENTY of money on drinks during the cruise and tip very well.
