  1. The airport is at the other side of the city from the port, so it can take a little while to get there, especially if it’s a week day.

The other issue is that taxis aren’t as reliable as in some other ports. You would certainly want a transfer organised rather than queueing for a taxi.

Ideally, you would want a flight a bit later than that. How early do you need to check in, and what time are you due to arrive in port. I would want a minimum of an hour, preferably a bit longer, between arrival time and the time you need to check in. You will probably need to carry your bags off as well.

If possible, if go for a flight a bit later, if only to avoid the stress.

Thank you! The cruise arrives back on a Saturday which I guess is good and it's scheduled to get into port at 7am. We will see if we can find something around noon to make it a little easier.

  2. We are on our first NCL cruise in August of 2018 as well. The difference between the DCL and NCL was about 7 grand. It could be a hoot.

That's what we found as well. The difference between the two was about $6,300 Canadian. It was too big of a difference to ignore.

  3. Hello, I'm fairly new to the boards and very new to NCL!

I just booked the 9 night Scandinavia/Russia Cruise August 2018 for myself, husband and daughter who will be 15. We are avid DCL cruisers, and did our first RCCL cruise January 2016 out of Dubai. I had a deposit down on the 7 night DCL cruise with same ports (minus berlin), but we are Canadian and found the NCL pricing to be better in Canadian funds without the exchange rate.

I booked a B6 large balcony, room 9722. Also could choose two of the offers so took the free specialty dining and the drink package. Any words of advice/wisdom on this particular room and about the Breakaway? Look forward to hearing all about it!

  4. For myself (female) I wore a head scarf, a long sleeved loose fitting shirt and long pants to visit the mosques (we visited one in Muscat and the grand mosque in Abu Dhabi).

If you are not properly covered at the grand mosque in Abu Dhabi, they do have "abayas", which are the long black robes that women can put on. There is a security person checking everyone and if they don't think you are properly covered they'll send you to get one of those robes.

For men it's more lax. They can wear shorts as long as they are not tight and go below the knee. My husband went with long cargo pants just to be safe and a golf shirt (men's arms do not have to be covered to the wrist like women.)

  5. Please forgive me I'm a new member on these boards! We are booked on Splendour of the Seas out of Dubai January 11th!

I haven't been able to access our cruise reservation on line since Friday, keep getting an error message that "we are unable to retrieve your booking information at this time." Anyone else having this issue?

    Thanks!
