We are staying at INNAthens in Plaka next month.  We have not stayed there, so I can't recommend or comment yet.  My grown son picked in out online.  It looks to be a quaint, but modern boutique hotel.  We will see.......

    Good luck.

No room at the Inn.  It looks like a nice place - I wish you a happy trip!!

  2. We booked our cruise late and are struggling to find a hotel room for 2 adults in Athens in September.  Would prefer to stay in Plaka, but am considering others.  Athens Gate, Hera, A for Athens, and others recommended on site already booked up.  Any input appreciated!!!

  3. We will disembark at Civitavecchia and need to arrange to get to Florence in the easiest way.  I have read here that there are many stairs in the Civi train station (I can't manage my luggage up and down stairs due to arthritis in hands).  So, I came upon this bus option to get us to Termini and we can take the fast train to Florence from there.

I have seen so much great information on this forum and appreciate any advice that you can offer!

  4. Thanks everyone, for your replies to my question regarding disembarkation in Livorno.  Contacted NCL and the answer is no - didn't really expect a yes, but never hurts to ask politely.  They were so nice.  Cruise Critic is such a great place to ask questions and get great advice and I do appreciate the time you all took!

Still smiling and looking for an adventure to enjoy in Livorno 🙂

  5. New to NCL and we have a fantastic cruise booked for October on the Jade - Rome to Rome.  Our last port of call is Livorno (the day before we return to Rome).  Since we plan to spend extra time in Florence after cruise, I wondered about leaving the cruise at Livorno port.

I'm sure this has been asked and answered many times - my search skills need some help!  I appreciate any feedback you can provide on your experience - I'm calling NCL now.

    Thanks!!!

  6. Just off Celebrity Panama Canal Cruise - so glad that we booked with Dora. She was fantastic, her assistant tour guide, Josie, was a gem and her driver was great! We were a group of 7 - learned so much and enjoyed Cartegena because of the pride and informed way in which Dora conducts her tour. It was the perfect way to spend our time in Columbia ;)

  7. Thank you! I did read t & c as well as FAQ. The way it reads, you keep the perks in your initial reservation and receive no additional unless you win Royal or better. When I called Celebrity to ask another question, I was told that all suites will receive go best - go figure. If I call again, I’ll probably get different answer [emoji849]

  8. Received an offer from Celebrity. Delighted to have been given the opportunity. Since this is new program, any tips on how to bid? If they receive same bid from several cruisers, how do they choose?

    Thanks for any input!

  9. Since this is such a port intensive cruise, we are not considering suites (guess I would if we got a great price). We got the BA offer for. $100 more than the forward balcony. Our price for this on deck 9 or 10 is about 1500 less than mini suite. I pulled the room data from NCL site and misinterpreted it myself [emoji23] before I sent note to ta. Do the balcony rooms have nightstands? I can’t tell from video. Also, is coffee provided for the in room maker?

  10. Husband and I are new to NCL, but have cruised Celebrity twice and have 2 upcoming cruises booked with them. We love the itinerary of the 10/24/19 Med cruise and I checked out the super active roll call which is exciting!

Questions I have - how does internet work? It appears to be very costly-we will use it more than 250 minutes over the course of 14 days, I’m sure. Could someone please break down the gratuity protocol for me? This is a port intensive cruise and the balcony cabin looks great to me. Is there any advantage to booking mini suite?

Thanks so much for any advice!!!

  11. Great points! It is the Jade that departs from Venice on this itinerary and like Pavovsky says, the reviews on Jade make me hesitant. Tatka - I agree with your assessment about port intensive European cruises and the ship not being a huge factor.

That said, I’m going to investigate the itineraries for Azamara and compare them to NCL for September through early November. I talked with my dr who is an avid cruiser yesterday and he had chosen the NCL Italy Greece cruise that I’m considering-he said the big let down with NCL was dinner time waits and said that since they were so busy all day, night time entertainment wasn’t a big deal. We will have drinks at bar, play in casino, silent disco.....shows aren’t important.

We have spent a lot of time on land trips in Europe, so we will for sure select itinerary over line loyalty.

Y’all are so helpful - anyone else who can compare the lines?

  12. We are new cruisers - 2 Celebrity cruises done and 2 booked. Very happy with the line (other than the website, but that’s not a real factor).

We want to cruise beginning in Venice and then to Greece. NCL came into my radar because of itinerary. We are comparing the Constellation cruise in 8/19 to the Jade cruise in 10/19. Don’t know much about NCL,but love that itinerary. Your thoughts or comparisons?

I have learned so much from you here. Your input and suggestions are appreciated!

  13. A few days ago they made a software change and I cannot get into cruise planner for my reservation on my iPad. I can get into the reservation, but when I click “manage reservation” I get thrown back to the main page.

It work on my MacBook. I assume it will mysteriously disappear soon just as it mysteriously appeared.

That is exactly what happened to me! I have cruised Celebrity with iPhone and iPad with no issues. I’ve called again and been told again that their site is not compatible with Apple devices (I can see our booked cruises - just not cruise planner for them).

Thank you everyone for the replies. I appreciate how helpful this forum always is!

  14. This morning, I accessed my account from site on my iPad. When I went to cruise planner to check our additions (Wi-Fi and drinks), it locked me out. Called Celebrity and was told that their website is not compatible with Apple devices. How bizarre. I do have a Microsoft tablet but really find this incredible. Did I understand the rep correctly?
