  1. I have read a lot about this and know that there are a lot of opinions about this. But I am trying to find out some real information. I realize that they add gratuities to your bill on a daily basis. And to be honest I do not have a problem with that. However when we sailed in January 3 on the Regal I made sure that we took Thank you notes with us and gave them out to our room steward and Dining Room wait staff the last night of the cruise. I personalized the notes to the three that I tipped and thought I was being generous in addition to what was being already charged. I just worry that I don't want to appear cheap or over zelous! LOL So here goes what is your personal policy and what have you left as a gratuity? As a bonus our Cabin Steward not only got a nice tip he also received the 2 bottles of very nice wine that I did not get to drink while out to sea.

  2.

Does anyone know if Regal has done away with this entirely in favour of the for-fee tea in the Piazza? I looked for it in the Patters everyday during our New Year's cruise and only saw the Piazza tea.

    thnks

We sailed on the Regal January 3 and the Tea in the MDR was 3:30 everyday. It is listed on the back of the Patters. The for-fee Tea I paid for because I did not read the back of my Patter. It was good because it is a little bit more detailed with three different kinds of tea served and I believe you get a bit more food. The only reason I realized this is because My server worked the tea in the MDR in the afternoon before she worked the MDR in the evening. One day we were discussing that I was not very hungry because we had been to tea that afternoon and she said she didn't see us. That was when I realized that I would not have had to pay for it. Oh well it was worth the experience. But to answer your question they do still have it in the MDR just check the back of the Patter in the Dining section.

  3. Would love to hear some details about what made your experience so memorable. We sail on the Regal on the 21st---first timers on Princess. Thanks.

I did a lot of reseach and devoured these boards but was still impressed with the Regal. We have stayed at some top resorts and was expecting a lot. The ship is beautiful! When you walk into the Piazza for the first time try not to let your mouth hang open to long lol just stunning! The staff was always happy and willing to serve. We ate at the Concerto dining room every night but one and loved it. We are not much for buffets. Once again the service was stellar. On the night I ordered lobster tail our server came over and asked me if she could take my tail out of the shell for me. Um OK! That is service.

We had an issue in the casino one day where I didn't load my winnings onto my card right when I took it out of the machine. I didn't discover it until much later in the day. After talking with the management they said they would check it out and for me to come back the next day.when I returned apparently the person that put there card in after mine refused to give the money back. Imagine that! But the management gave me my money back anyway.

Every time I heard the ship horn blow the theme to the Love boat I got goose bumps! Im wierd that way I guess! It was nice to go to bed at on island and wake up at another. That was too cool!

As far as we were concerned it rates up there with some of our favorite vacations. As I said we have already booked our next cruise for next year.

  4. We have recently returned from our first cruise. We choose the Regal Princess and sailed out on January 3. What a wonderful experience. I have to admit that a cruise on the "Love Boat" has been on my bucket list for years. I finally talked my husband into it and we both were hooked. So hooked infact that we paid our deposit for next cruise before we left the first. Well I am glad to say that we have booked our next cruise the other day. So look out Regal we will see you again next February to discover the western Caribbean. I can't wait!

  5. We just got back from a week on the Regal in January. You are going to love it. Make sure you and your girls attend at least one High Tea while on ship. They serve High Tea in the Dining Room every day at 3:30 I believe. The schedule is on the back of your Pattter. I paid for the one put on by the IC in the Piazza although it was nice My daughter and I would have been just as satisfied with the one in the Dining Room that was for free. The one in the Piazza served three kinds of tea and/or champagne for a price of $10.oo/$20.00 a person. My daughter is 20 and we still enjoyed having high tea like princesses. So make sure you try it.

  6. Thank you so much everyone! This has been very helpful. I know that everyone is different. I myself drink a lot of Ice tea, my husband a soda drinker, and my daughter she would like the slushies. So I think I will purchase the soda drink cards for them and pay as we go for the bar drinks. It is nice to have this outlet to gather all this information. Once again thank you I am so excited to set sail. :D

  7. My husband and I are First time cruisers. We leave out on the Regal Princess on Jan 3rd. I am so excited I cant stand it. I have done a whole lot of research and homework for this cruise. That being said I was wondering with all of the add-ons that they have these days what is everyone's average bar bill at the end of your 7 day cruise. I know that it is subjective. My husband is not much of a drinker and I use to be back in the day not so much these days! I just don't think the all -inclusive is a good fit for us especially because you have to purchase it for the whole week. We will have three ports that we will be visiting. I would just like to get a general idea of what everyone out there spends. I just want to be somewhat prepared and don't want to spend the whole trip counting how many drinks we have had. I hope this does not sound too petty. I am just looking for some ideas. Thanks in advance for your help.
