We have been going on other lines the past few years since NCL only has the mega ships out of Miami and Royal has smaller ones that are easier to board and get off. NCL def. does offer more meal times than Royal, but I like the Royal decor better, it is more subdued. But I really prefer NCL disembarkation process the best. It is more leisurely and subdued compared to all the other lines.

Thanks again for the info and pics. I'm going on it next month for the first time ever, but been to all these places numerous times, especially Key West.

I second the White Pass train ride in Skagway. In Juneau, the Mendenhal Glacier is a must see. Sad though, when I went in 2005, it was much bigger compared to now as it has melted a lot. In Ketchikan, did the Misty Fjords boat instead of the plane. But it was sunny and not misty at all, so it was a bit of a disappointment.

I remember a few years ago, the ship had already left Cozumel and was already sailed well out past the harbor. Heard an announcement from the captain that there was a late passenger and he had to come up the ladder of shame. I looked down from my balcony and this old guy was on a pilot and was able to get back on the ship while everyone was waving and cheering him on.

I was on the Sun last December and in our room, the carpet was bad, it was ripped and some pieces were simply gone. But the size of the room was bigger that any of the Jewel class ships.

Long overdue! I remember my Alaska cruise was ruined by a elderly couple next door who seemed to smoke 10 times a day, I am not kidding! Had to retreat inside as I am allergic to the smoke, so it rally was highly annoying. So glad NCL is following suit.

Thanks for posting this.

I felt bad for them, they looked sad that they didn't make it to land, then they would have been free.

Here's a pic I took from my balcony of a few of them being taken away. Felt bad for them, people kept asking if they were going to go to jail and be arrested. Other people said they saw the boat and the ship went past it like they didn't exist.

Anyone know who is currently on the Pearl?

I've been to Catalina twice and going again next month for my birthday & there are lockers right next to the building where the Catalina Express arrives and departs. The lockers go back pretty far, used one the last time there.
Thanks for everyone attempting to answer the luggage storage question. I THINK we are going to get around this but I won't be sure for about 90 more days.. -
I lost a necklace the last time I was on the Jewel, I know it had to be somewhere on the ship since it was a transatlantic cruise, but it wasn't at the lost and found a the front desk. People must find lost stuff and keep it.

Our cart worked fine and no problems. Gave $10 to cover gas. Saw lots of the island without being around the same people. It was fun driving around, got lost a few times. I Would recommend printing out a map at home and bringing it, the one the gave us wasn't too detailed. My phone did work as I signed up for international when I got it and it was a good thing since my mother's watch died and could tell what time it was as a result from my phone, so I could have called if anything happened.

Does all of the mentioned previously in this thread include T-Mobile prepaid?

My last cruise I went on, which was the Pearl one nighter from & to L.A. I thought I had saw Johnny Bananas from Real World Key West getting a tour of the ship. I know he is from Fullerton, CA, but I wasn't sure or not since I didn't hear him talk.

I love right as I get inside the ship for the first time and to the room while take everything all in and feel so happy. Going to dinner the first night as well, I feel so taken care of.

The Star was the first NCL ship I have seen with hull art and thought it looked so cool. On other lines, they all look the same and are hard to tell apart. My favorite hull art is the Jewel, but now it is the Gem. ;)

When I went to Alaska this past August, I forgot to bring binoculars. I could have used them many times, but then it would have cut into to all the pictures I took with two cameras & the video time with the video camera.
Independence Norovirus Outbreak?

Just got off Indy today, took forever to board as we had to wait. We were all starving since we didn't have lunch. My brother and SIL and nephews were on deck 3 and their rooms weren't ready with no toilet paper. Our room was ready on deck 9 when we entered it. But couldn't get my own drink at drink stations, tables were wet as they used the same wet yucky rag at every and any table. Windjammer never stayed open late, closed at 9pm every night. Had to sanitize hands entering at any place. Needless to say, I was glad to get off the ship. Didn't see anyone sick. Then people were wondering if I was on ill fated bus, but I did it the day before. What a cruise, first Noro then people thinking I was on the crashed bus.
