So, if we have no idea how long protection lasts from the "so called vaccine" or natural infection, then what is your proposed plan on how the US should restart cruising safely and normally? If it involves opening the floodgates and allowing cruises with zero restrictions starting today, then I think you're living on a different island of reality from the rest of us.

Human immune system is very complex. Antibodies counts may drop but your T cells and B cells may still have memory. These cells may still know how to fight the virus for a long time. Booster will help to keep your system remember this virus and and train you system to know who are the new bad cousins.

I have no issue really w/ a business mandating their requirements. I do have issues w/ a government mandate of a required vaccine ID.

Then, the business will have no right to enforce it. Also, the problem is not only north America. I believe if you want to go international, vaccine id will be needed. It is unfortunate that we are living in this.

you are hitting a nerve with me.  I am a liberal, and we are not just "holding" it for ourselves, we are making sure that as many Americans that want the vaccine can have access to it, every country that develops it in their land should be doing the same for its citizens.  The US will do, as it always has done, take care of much of the world with sharing the vaccine in due time.  Right now, we are taking care of our own and soon, we will be taking care of others.

I do believe your President is doing what is best for their citizens. That is why I said I totally understand that but I don't agree with that because I am on the other side.  The problem I have is some of your fellows Americans still don't believe your government is doing the right thing for them. Seriously, you guys should appreciate what you have.

I'm one that still understands the magnitude and number of people that have died before my time for those rights remain intact. What's sad is that you don't understand, comprehend this and/or accept it, the liberties and individual rights are worth fighting & dying for. And that group isn't small.

Your right is you have a choice to take it not take the vaccine. The business has their right to refuse you to enter their premises. It is that simple.

How preposterous a statement. And then Laughing????? Your statement reeks of hubris.

You do not take into account the distribution or underlying reasons for the tragic deaths. There were countless deaths attributed to Covid which were not the main cause of death because medical facilities and practitioners received extra federal funding if the COD was listed as covid.  Or how about the population of the U.S. compared to the population of your smaller country, which you obviously don't disclose in your profile.

BTW beginning tomorrow, anyone age 18+ in FL is eligible to be vaccinated.  Hows that working for you in your country?

I feel sorry to the people who lost their life as I always said. I am laughing at a small group of the people in your country who kept on using their rights as a excuse to do whatever they want. It is just sad.

  6. I believe majority of Americans are getting the vaccine because your government are pretty much keeping all the supplies for themselves. Unless u.s. love to stores them in the freezer, I think there is always some people like to complain about a gov policy that work against their will. At the end, it is the rule that you need to follow before you board the ship. Just don't book.

Lock downs have NOT been proven to control the spread.  Government policy has not been proven to control the spread.  This thread is about Florida's governor and is appropriate to compare Florida, open, to California, closed.

That is why your country lost half millions life. Nothing more needs to say. Lmao

So after 1 year, about 10% of the US population has tested positive for the virus.  Less than .2% of the population has died from the virus.  Based on the information I have read, you still have about a 10% chance of getting the virus after receiving the vaccine and a very small chance of dying from the vaccines.  So the way I see it, the odds are roughly the same whether you get the vaccine or not.  Your claim is the risk is "much lower" if everyone is vaccinated.  Can you show me this data?  So I'm still trying to understand how you feel unsafe in a setting where you are vaccinated and others are not.

I was born and raised a farmer so risk taking is in my blood.  Every spring we put a crop in the ground not knowing whether we will have anything to harvest in the fall.  40%?  Yeah I would probably get on the plane - esp if it was taking me to a cruise ship where masks, distancing and vaccines were not required!

Not exactly true. Thanks to the lock down, the rate is controlled and so there is enough ICU to treat people and increase their chance to survive. If there is no gov policy, the number won't look this low. How many of them recovered fully and how many are still recovering from the virus, there is no stats. If there were no change in policy since Feb, the number will be way worse with the variants. I absolutely have no idea why a first world country is having such a tough time to control the number and to keep the chance to generate a variant of high consequence low. It is just basic high school biology.

  9. I have sailed on solstice, reflection, constellation but only sailed on Sapphire princess. Food is much better on celebrity, shows are much better on celebrity. I wish I would sail with celebrity to Baltic but it is cancelled. I am debating if I should book 14nt Sky princess because it is much cheaper than next year 12nt Silhouette. I am not sure if the new princess ships are better.

I also called today and was advised that I could lift and shift to either of the 2 - 14 day cruises in 2022

one is a 14 day cruise on the Silhouette - June 11th - Iceland / Ireland

one is a 14 day cruise on the Silhouette - July 30th - Spain/ Mediterranean

neither one is a Baltic cruise, but, those are my options if I want to move to next year

Yep they also offer me the June 11 but not interested. I am planning to wait and see how the variants unfolding. I can change my travel plan anytime until it is back to normal normal especially I have a young kid.

I checked the roll call board and someone said they can switch to 12 nt Baltic in may. I found it maybe still too cold to use the pool.

  11. Just called Celebrity and found out my July 3 Baltic "lift and shift" don't allow any 2022 Baltic itinerary and only allow a 7nt Norwegian. From 14 nt Baltic to 7nt Norwegian, it is a downgrade. I will let the demand back to normal before I will sail with this over priced cruise line again. Maybe 3 years after normal normal and no recession.

What American's are going to book a shorter cruise when flying all the way to Europe? My guess if they go to shorter cruises will just be for local people.

Yep, for sure, it will be like princess. I started to think because RCI is more American based. They may not do anything until CDC approved and started to focus more on U.S. local cruises. Then, they may keep their ships around Caribbean for this fall and winters. That is my guess but who knows.

I'm not surprised. We're a family of 4, and one of the reason why we shy away from Celebrity when traveling as a family is exactly because their 3rd/4th fare are consistently considerably more than other cruise lines. This is not new. From my experience, it's how their pricing structure works. There are times when booking two cabins is just as much as booking one cabin for 4.

We've had luck finding cruises that offer "3rd/4th sail for free" promotions on cruise lines like Holland America and MSC. I was actually surprised that Holland America offers these promotions since they cater heavily to an adult (senior) clientele. But they still offered plenty to keep my kids entertained. We loved sailing on them as a family.

last year I got the 50% off 3rd and 4th. Celebrity does not offer that anymore. I guess these promotions will resume once FCC are all used and we are truly back to normal.

Remembering last March. And yes, I have cruises booked for Fall 2021.

Gov will not suspend Cruise because that may lead to bailout. They won't give a green light because they don't want to get in trouble if there is an outbreak on one ship. So, this is the most political correct way to handle this. Just give a very confused guideline and said we are working on it. On the other hands, keep telling their citizens to try to avoid non essential travels like cruises.

It may get cancelled. Problem is they have flights they have to use or lose a huge sum of money. Its a right mess to be honest and royals lack of commitment to a start date or cancelling until the 11th hour has caused extra costs and losses.

They are not due to sail till August so maybe summer will change things with the vaccine roll out in the UK being so fast.

You will need all the Europe countries to have the same vaccine roll out rate and also the variants are not going to get worse. Vaccine also take about a month to kick in with 2 doses. So, that is about 2 months if you take the first shot today. Then, test cruise, then low capacity cruise. That is why Princess and HAL and P&O cancel until Sept because it is more logically. I am pretty sure RCI knows all these but they are treating the deposit as their money.

I started to think majority of RCI customers are Americans and they cannot do what Princess does which the cruise line is based in U.K.
