  1. I see my question seems to have been answered already above!!, thanks to all for this thread.

Sounds like we should buy the wine at home and put it in checked in cases instead of waiting and buying in Dubai duty free on arrival as is pricey there.

Hi, we sailed with Celebrity late last year and we were able to bring 2 bottles of wine onboard with us. Do you know is it the same limit for RCI/Splendour of the Seas?

Thank you for the review. In May we embarked in Dubai, went to Oman, through the Suez Canal and then had stops in Israel, Greece and Turkey.

Just a few comments. We found the duty free in the Dubai airport to have a great selection if wine and had no problem purchasing or bringing on board. We purchased a bottle for our 3 day pre cruise stay in Dubai. We were happy we did this as we had arrived during a holiday and no alcohol was available anywhere for two days.

We also had NO problem with medication. We brought bottles with many more pills than the trip, medication with codeine etc and were never asked about medication. We had our daily meds as well as our usual travel meds and NO issue or problem.

It was very warm during the trip. Well over 100 F in Oman. In most cities I wore a short sleeve top and ankle length pants but did have a long sleeve blouse and a head covering with me if needed.

Dubai was amazing. It was our first time in the region and we hope to get back.

OP. Thanks again for your review

  3. I was on the Eclipse over Xmas in the southern Caribbean it was my first time cruising so have nothing to compare it against. One thing I did notice (and in the end was happy about) was the smallish portions in the MDR. What with what I'd be having for breakfast (lots) it was good to not see a massive amount of food later in the day. A few nights I went with 2 of the starters having said that. Desserts for me were disappointing. The only one that I could not fault that was on every night was the creme brulee.

In general I found the staff on board v good esp in MDR. Our waiter and his assistant were fantastic. The cruise director I did not warm to, the type of guy you love or hate I reckon.

The evening entertainment was meh... we did not do a drinks package, instead we brought wine on with us and took advantage of the 'social' hrs at the bars eg. 4-6 at passport bar.

  4. The cruise line rule is 2 - 750 ml bottles per cabin, but....

My wife and I board separately in different security lines. Somehow 4 - 750 ml bottles end up in our cabin to be enjoyed during the cruise. Not sure how that happens, but thought you'd be interested.

    Nice one!!.

    Now there is a plan!!.

    Tx.

  5. length of cruise is irrelevant. 2 750 ML bottles per cabin. celebrity still charges a corkage fee if consumed anywhere but in your cabin( the cabin steward or any bartender can provide both glasses and a corkscrew)

I wanna say the fee is $30 but I may be wrong on that.

Many thanks. I've read that one can bring their glass of wine (poured in cabin) to dinner and that it's only if one is bringing the bottle to the table that the corkage is charged. Corkage is $25 apparently.

  6. Travelling with Celebrity on our 1st cruise this month. It is a 9 night cruise. Wondering how much wine we can bring onboard and if we can bring it to the dinner in the main dining room in the evening? or must we consume in our cabin. We are 2 adults, 1 cabin.

    Thanks in advance.
