  1. gma rae, I found the drinks package well worth it and I knew exactly what coast I was up for at the end of the cruise. Soft drinks, special coffees and alcoholic beverages to a certain cost made my decision easy. I didn't want the worry of a huge bill at the end or having to keep tabs on what I could afford. Overall, I found it worth it.

Sorry you were berated by some for your double post, that's shameful behaviour on their part. I know how hard it is to find exactly what your looking for on the boards to avoid duplicate posting. In fact I've just written a post about the rudeness of some people on these boards. Thankfully, the scales tip mostly the other way. Keep looking forward to your cruise and forget the grumpy bums [emoji39]

  2. Pinching myself that I'm really there living the lifestyle of the rich and the famous! Haha.

No seriously though, I spend my sea days enjoying the company of new friends (though a solo traveller - I'm outgoing and meet lots of lovely people). After a while I will do a bit of sunbaking, read on the top deck, enjoy watching the activities round the pool or get involved in something not too strenuous myself. Exercising my glass arm is a great pastime, particularly for early evening cocktails at the back of the ship.

    Sun Princess.

  4. Tracie, your review of your trip is a fab read, I can't put it down. Look forward to more. You and I have many similarities read below) and even share a name, so I felt compelled to respond to your review. Apologies in advance... I'm not meaning to hi-jack and forgive me if it appears that way.

I also did a solo cruise on the Sun Princess Round Indonesia Xmas New Year 2015. My first cruise, but hooked now.

My next sailing is in May on the Dawn Princess Fremantle, Bali, Penang, KL, Lankawi, Phuket, Singapore, then 3 nights in Singapore before heading home to Perth. This one is with my beautiful 28yo daughter. So excited.

  5. I'm going on this sailing in May. I did the Sun Princess Xmas/New Year cruise in Dec 2015 & as both ships are exactly the same. I can tell you, the Sun was fine. and I'm sure the Dawn will be too.

I think the Dawn is actually a bit younger than the Sun and had a refurb around the same time as the Sun. Look online.

I was travelling alone and the passengers were a diverse mix of people. I made a lovely bunch of new friends who were a variety of ages (I'm 50).

  6. Hi Southendweather, usually your flight itinerary will tell you how many bags you are allowed with your weight allowance. My current flight only allows 20kg in one bag. I think most airlines are probably the same, but check on your itinerary. Remember you won't really be carrying the bag anyway. If it's not a case with wheels, you can get a trolley as soon as you get to the airport. :)

  7. Barjolov, I've just booked the Orchard hotel through Expedia. It looks great & I got a great deal. All the reviews on their & trip advisor are very positive. I was considering the Carlton and the Oasia but Orchard was in a much better location and had a better rating and reviews. Now I'm all booked, I'm getting excited. Just travel insurance to go now (will search for recommendations).

  8. I'm also looking for a hotel for 3 nights 26-29 May 2017 after we leave the Dawn Princess. The 3 nights after our 12 night cruise is a bonus so if you know of any relatively budget type hotels, I'd appreciated your advice and tips.

    Many thanks.
