  1. Thanks for the info! I actually thought I would never be able to eat in the MDR...lol.

Abisha, i can completely relate. After trying to book 7 nights of MTD reservations around our reserved show times I was thinking there were some nights i might starve (sort of go obsessed and forgot there are other options for dining :p ). I was not able to get one night between 6-7:30, not even one and this was booking 8 weeks prior to departure. SIGH....i sure hope that we have 5-10 min waits, but we have a party of 6, so i'm sure that's more difficult.

  2. We are staying the night in FLL and catching our flight home at noon the next day. We are a family of mom and dad plus an 18 year old son and 10 year old daughter. Would love 3 beds and something close to beach/water taxi that we could enjoy on Sunday afternoon and then an easy way to get to airport the next day for a noon flight out. Any suggestions? Don't want to spend a ton because we will only get to enjoy it for Sunday afternoon.

    thanks in advance.

  3. Looks like we are in St.Thomas from 10am-7PM for our June 12th Allure Cruise. We have booked a 4 hr snorkeling tour from 12:30-4:30. Will that give me any time to do some shopping? if we dock at 10 doesn't seem like I could go before hand. I'd love some advice. I have no idea if shopping is walkable from the ship or not.

    thanks.

  4. OK, i'm sorry if I keep hounding on this, but I'm wondering if there is even going to be a main dining room seating option available to 2016 cruisers?

Here is what the Q&A on the Royal Caribbean Site says:

IS there a difference between Dynamic Dining and My Time Dining? I don't understand that. As I said before when I booked I was told the only Option for dinner was My Time Dining, seems like many people have had issues with their reservations being incorrect or long lines, so I'm not terribly excited about this option.

    Dining:Food & Beverage

Q: I'm sailing on Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas in 2015 and I am already booked for the early/late seating in the Main Dining Room. What do I do?

A: Guests booked on Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas will continue to dine in the Main Dining Room in accordance to their original reservation until the introduction of Dynamic Dining in late 2015. During this time guests will enjoy the cruise line's world-renowned GOLD Anchor Service and an expansive menu of delicious dinner options in early and late seating dining -- as well as the flexible My Time Dining program, among up to 20 dining options aboard the world's largest and most innovative cruise ships.

  5. OK now that it's time to make some reservations I have so many questions.

We are doing the Allure 7 night Eastern Caribbean. We have a ton of included things in our package from our "wholesale warehouse travel Agent".

complimentary and we have two connecting rooms booked so we get all this X2:

One specialty dining experience at Giovanni’s Table or Chops Grille for up to four guests**

    • Onboard soda package for two**

    • Lunch or dinner at Johnny Rockets® per person**

    • Cupcake decorating class for two**

    • Rice Krispy treat for two**

    • Ice cream cup for two**

    • One bottle of wine (per stateroom)

    • One spa experience: Choose from three rejuvenating spa experiences to enjoy during your cruise. La Therapie hydrolift facial, Swedish massage or reflexology including massage (one per stateroom)

So I can't seem to make any of these reservations online ahead of time because they want to charge me (chops and spa).

The Spa restrictions are that it must be booked on a day we are in port. Could I do that on the Nassau day which is a very short port day and do it after we debark?

Also would you recommend that we do our nice meal and shows on days we are at sea?

I think I need to read more trip reports to see what everyone liked best. But I'd love to hear your opinion.

  6. Do you prefer to book the large shows on port nights or at sea nights and why.

Our shows are posted now and I don't know which nights to book Mama Mia and the comedy show.

Also if you you have a room with an Aqua Theater view should you just watch those shows from your balcony? or do you recommend seeing them from the theater?

    thanks!

  7. We got a great deal with a lot of on-ship credit $ and a specialty dining experience and beverage package as well as come ice cream and cupcakes and a spa treatment from our " large warehouse membership travel dept." Might have a look there. It was way better than booking direct for same category.

As a newbie I hope I don't get kicked off for saying that.

  8. I told him there would be a big buffet at midnight and he was very excited about that, so I'll eeze it to him gently over the next several months. He'll be ok with pizza as a substitute for late night buffet. Now I just read in another thread that there will be no balloon twisters and I have no idea how to break that to him!;):p:p

  9. Staying at the Embassy Suites pre-cruise, for a Sunday departure. Coming in from the West Cost and finding right now airfare is very high, hoping to get a much better deal closer to the day of departure. But if it comes down to taking a Red-eye and staying an extra day in a hotel to recoup, or arriving very late, like 11:30PM which is better? For me 11:30PM is nothing as it will be 7:30 our time, but will we have a hard time getting to the hotel at that time of night? by the time we retrive our luggage? there will be 6 of us So a simple taxi isn't an option.

    thanks.

  10. I know at my age I'd never be able to eat a midnight buffet, so I won't miss that! But my son often eats dinner at 6 with us, then another plate of food around 8:30, and then something at 11:00 before bed. Will he be able to find food late, at no additional charge?

Keep the advise coming , I'm gonna go look for that role call.

  11. It was recommended I move post from th first timers board to this page.

My husband and I are taking our kids on the Allure of the Seas right after my son Graduates from High School we depart on June 12.

The only time i cruised was when I was 17, and I had the time of my life.

I'm interested to see how much has changed. I remember lots of ice sculptures and carvings in watermelons and a midnight buffet after the show got out every night. My mom made us take Papaya enzymes so we could eat more. I"d love to hear about other cruise tricks you seasoned veterans know about.

We have 2 connecting Boardwalk Balcony rooms and my in laws are just down the hallway in a similar room on the 9th deck.

We plan to stay the night at the Embassy Suite in FLL the night before we depart. We still need to purchase airfare from Portland and are hoping it will drop in price as it's ridiculously high right now.

Wondering if anyone has any particular tips about the Allure and also what the status of motion sickness is on theses HUGE ships. When we went in 1990 we wore sea bands and had no problem until the day I decided I didn't really need them and took them off. Alter spending hours in the bathroom on a day at sea, i became a believer, so I have bought Sea Bands for my family. Do they still work well or do i need to bring dramamine as well.
