  1. I defiantly swam in the haven pool around 10 pm. Maybe if people are using it is stays open. So my guess is it closes around midnight. They don't want drunk people or unsupervised kids swimming late at night. I am a early riser and it was always open by 7 am maybe before.

The only time the pool was ever closed was Sunday night for the Captains reception,. They clear all the lounge chairs away for people to stand around and talk.

    Swam? Or floated?

PS - this was a shot at the size of the pool and not you...

  2. My daughter 9 won the last game on Breeze during our cruise. She got into the game by answering the question, who was Lucy in love with in the cartoon Peanuts?

A man had the first shot at botched the answer, he said Charlie Brown!

I immediately made a big noise and shot my arm up...and my girl went up and scored with Schroeder.

That said she picked the battleship monopoly card and it won when she put it in the machine.

She won a $150 Gift Card to Hasbro.com which was mostly painless to use, they do charge shipping :p

Got some games, toys and nerf stuff...

It was cool she won it but we didn't miss it on our Magic cruise later.

  3. We loved the Dawn and out other NCL cruises but I did mean loved = past tense

I would sail NCL only if it were free these days. And they would even have to pick up parking. I know why they are giving so many freebies away, and actually you are paying for those freebies.

They change their product way to much from the time you book to sail, who knows what new fees or changes will occur...no thanks.

  4. After about your third or fourth visit, they'll be rolling their eyes every time they see you coming, just like you are, now.

Simply put smoke detectors on all balconies, like airplane lavatories. If it goes off or is messed with slap the $250 cleaning fee, per incident. that's an expensive smoke and only the most obtuse violators of no smoking on the balcony will be willing to jack up the cost of a pack so high.

Eventually, one day, no smoking indoors anywhere will be the law, even on ships. Unless its in a sealed box.

  5. Grease and calories and low-carb and gluten free, all have different issues, do they not?

I would worry more about one than the other in my food intake.

My DD 6 has no issues with any of that but she just wants no bun on her Guy's. Just meat and cheese.

The Guy's burgers seemed way more meaty and less greasy on Magic than they were on Breeze the year before.

  6. It's already operating on the Vista. Just not under the name Pig & Anchor. Perhaps some of the spices, rubs, sauces will be different when it becomes Pig & Anchor but it's operational.

Then its not the same. ;)

The spices, rubs and sauces seem critical...

  7. We cruised on the Breeze several years ago and I wasn't that impressed with Fat Jimmy's BBQ. I just read that Carnival is replacing it with Guy's Pig and Anchor, which sounds like it will be a lot better. We are cruising on this ship again in April 2017, just before it is dry docked, so I assumed they wouldn't add this until then. However, I just read that they are adding it to the Vista at the end of this year, but the Vista isn't schedule to dry dock this year. Does this mean there's a chance they will roll it out on the Breeze before it's dry-docked, or are the chances of this happening quite slim?

I don't think it would be added to Breeze before a dry dock, it requires a substantial structure to be built, wood ovens installed, a new exhaust system for that oven and some work around the deck 6 balconies above it, a roof is installed jutting our from those balconies.

Vista has it already built its just not going on line until it arrives in the US according to Carnival...

  8. They don't at Guy's have the lettuce suitable for wraps, only the shredded iceberg on the toppings bar. Not sure I have ever seen the lettuce leafs suitable for a wrap any where on board a Carnival ship.

I agree ask for no bun, no fries. Add what you want from topping bar and eat with knife and fork.

    • Thanks 1
  9. My meal at Prime on Magic was actually on par with the last time I went to Ruths Chris and a lot less expensive. :)

I was very disapointed in ruth chris and the cost was way to high for what I got.

But prime was good but was a bit to small a venue with tables way to close together. But we enjoyed our meal and it was a good value for sure.

  10. I think its pretty funny you were expecting authentic NYC Italian dishes on a cruise ship for 15.00 a person. ;)

With that said, my chicken parm was cooked perfectly.

And I don't want to go to Brooklyn to eat Italian, but I do want to cruise again on the Magic. I imagine the view from the window and the walk to and from would be better.

The steak in Cucina has always been better than the steak I had in the Steakhouse. Not that the steak in the steakhouse sucked but just enjoyed the Cucina steak better.

  11. Loved ATD on Magic, never had it before. Worked perfectly. Short wait and a table alone. And quick, efficient waiters without useless chatter with them or table mates.

Used to always do early. Won't do it unless there is a good reason from here on out.

We did tend to go between 6-6:15, sometimes earlier. No real wait to speak of. Formal night was a bit more complex time wise.

Sorry that some have found it not to work for them.

  12. Like the decor of Breeze the best, but enjoyed our cruise on Magic better overall. Breeze was a close second. Everything was just better on the Magic for whatever reason.

Won't sail any other carnival ships until we can try Vista but fully expect Vista won't top the Breeze of Magic due to the rather lame Thermal suite (s) so we won't go our usual Spa cabins.

  13. I am booked in my first wrap around on the Magic. It's on Vista deck right below the adults only aft pool. I am hoping that it doesn't get too loud - I've heard people say it's usually only a little scraping early in the morning and I'm an early riser.

I wouldn't have necessarily chosen this cabin except it was a really great deal (casino) and I've always wanted an aft wrap. Oh well, I'm sure I will enjoy the balcony more than I'll be disturbed by noise (at least I hope so).

The Deck 10 Tides pool on Vista is not adult's only, is it?
