  1. We just got off the Reflection and we thoroughly enjoyed the music and other entertainment on this cruise. We especially liked the Miami DJ's who played next to the Martini Bar where we danced the night away along with many others. I wouldn't call it techno at all - just good dance music with a great beat.

The house band, Vibes, was also wonderful. I like Sinatra and chamber music but I think the music we heard on this cruise was a lot more fun. To each his own.

    We agree!

It's nice to have varied music both live and over speaker that's not old boring music all over like we find on many other lines

Celebrity is Modern Luxury so having hip Dj's and some rap here and there mixed with jazz etc makes it more appealing to us

Sent from my iPad using Cruise Critic Forums mobile app

  2. We were in Budapest two weeks ago for four days and watched various river cruise boats come and go from the banks of the Danube.

The most impressive boat belonged to Scenic Tours; an Aussie operation, with new ships, and "full balconies" - big enough for two chairs and a round coffee table.

I sent for their brochure and it came with a fantastic DVD, well worth ordering if you are considering a river cruise.

All inclusive too, and Moet & Chandon Champagne available for breakfast every day................

My boss went on scenic and loved the balconies but the service, food and attention to detail was not that of Uniworld or AMA ...but they are a good option also

  3. Uniworld's old world style and heavy decor is a turn off for us. We have been next to them in port on several occasions and their boats, while very nice, just do not appeal.

We have done five river cruises between AMA and Avalon. AMA was outstanding and has what we look for in a river cruise: great food featuring local dishes and an artisinal cheese board that was fabulous at lunch and dinner; entertainment that went beyond standard river cruise piano player and kept us up having fun past midnight, a first; a younger demographic; bike tours; interesting twists on the included excursions which we mostly avoid on river cruises as we prefer to do our own thing; fast walker groups; on board masseuse and a young crew that was truly outstanding.

Their new boat has a wine bar, pool with swim up bar, and multiple dining venues. We are excited to be checking her out this fall, sailing Budapest to Prague.

I'm glad you found a line you enjoy,

Uniworld has amazing to deck furniture, and the ships the most maintained although not new. The style is more traditional mixed with contemporary very mixed and the bedding the best from what my clients say. I used to sell more AMA but a few clients were not as happy with consistency that they have enjoyed on Uniworld,

I would say most happy ate Uniworld then Viking and AMA sort of tie....

I like more modern ...traditional so I find the spaces on Uniworld perfect for sailing Europe. But I realize everyone has preferences :)

Can't wait to get on one ourselves

  4. I loved my last AMA cruise on the AmaDante last fall. Wonderful attention to detail in every aspect of the experience.

We have chosen to river cruise rather than ocean cruise for the past 4 years as we grew disenchanted with main stream cruising and the budget would not permit Regent.

Azamara seems to offer good value considering the inclusions. And now that ratings are so improved, I think it's time to see for ourselves.:)

My mother just returned from Uniworld and she thought it was the best river cruise she has done...we hope to try a river cruise soon also

  5. We have never done O so I really can't make any comparison. However I can say we have always been lown away by Azamara. We love Celebrity, the service and food, etc. however Azamara does go one step beyond. It is like coming home every time we board. It is amazing to us that the crew remembers us by name from one cruise to another, ot matter how far apart. They ALL go that extra step to ensure that all onthe guests have a incredible experience.

All of the stories above ring true. The Captain and all down do their best to ensure that each and every guest receive first class service. For this reason, we will probably never try O or any other line. We are loyal to Azamara and Celebrity !!!!!

I'm hoping after our first Azamara we feel the same ...already love Celebrity :)

  6. Can anyone tell me if the CS balconies were added by making the total square footage bigger or did they infringe on the living room space by taking away some of that space and creating the balconies from part of the former living room area?

We had the CS on Summit in March

They are added onto the current space, and balcony, non sliding door added.

  7. Prefer the new micheals club! Love the beer selection more fitting for us, and celebrity's modern appeal! Love aqua class being added 200 people will not make a huge difference look at the space ratio on the century!

Enjoy where X is headed very W like and not the same as other large ship cruise lines.

  8. Of all my Aunts 30 plus cruises other then Silver sea and Regent only Celebrity has taken care of her gluten Free needs compared to others. Princess was awful for her, as was RCCL in ways.

Let them know before you go and then speak with your maitre D the first day before dinner. this always helps...

  9. We have had both suites and recently Aqua class again. We would prefer Aqua just for BLU alone but when sailing with friends this coming March on the Eclipse not all of them have double passenger rooms and some are in regular balconies so we selected an S1 suite, but I know with our connections we will have no issues getting into BLU if we would like. And considering its a 7 night cruise by the time we add up dining in Quisine, Murano, and Tuscan that only leaves a few nights anyway.

If its a longer sailing and you are alone for sure go with BLU over the Sky suite, we love the suites but BLU is worth more then the space or Butler in the end

  10. I figured it would be funny to hear what people "don't like" about cruising.

I think everyone will agree with me when I say that I HATE getting off the ship!!!

I also hate the amount of laundry I have to do when we get back! lol!

However.......the best thing we do is always book our next cruise while we are on one...that way, when we get back, we already have another one to look forward too! :D

Soooo.....what do you hate about cruises?????

Listening to other passengers at dinner, elevator, on the tender complaining about this and that and comparing ships blah blah blah.....And saying it loud so others can hear them.

  11. Ship - Solstice

    Deck - 12

    Cabin # - 2130

Class – Sky Suite (Handicap Accessible)

Starboard or Port Side – Starboard Aft (not stern)

Bed near?(balcony or bath) – Centered

Quiet Cabin –This cabin and others along both the starboard and port aft sides (not stern cabins) are directly under the Ocean View Café and are subject to beaucoup noise all hours of the day and night.

    Balcony View – Unobstructed

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? – Oversized

Was wind a problem? -- No…. Regardless of class of cabin and location, you will experience wind tunnel effect if you have both your balcony and cabin doors open.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? -- No

Any specific problems with this cabin? – None

Any other comments? – Because this is a handicap accessible cabin, it has several unique features. 1) This cabin is larger than the standard Sky Suite. 2) Your key card, handicap button inside the cabin, or manual operation of the door handle results in the cabin door opening automatically. It is impossible to manually close it; you have to wait until it closes itself. This feature allows ample time for wheel-chaired passengers to enter and exit the cabin. 3) The primary closet’s clothes rod has a lever a wheel-chaired passenger can pull lowering the rod and providing easy access to hanging clothes. The hanging rod in the secondary closest is half-length and at wheel-chair level. While this provides easy access to a wheel-chaired guest, it is so low you cannot hang trousers on it and reduces the amount of available hanging space. 4) The shower is designed to accommodate wheel chairs. There is a tiled ridge that runs the length of the shower designed and intended to keep the shower water inside the shower. It is not very effective and water will flow onto the bathroom floor. Stateroom attendants will lay two bath towels lengthwise to absorb the water. The controls and hand wand are easily accessible.

Could you provide any pictures of this room at all?

    Thanks so much
