  1. Just got off of Encore and sitting at the airport.  Not that it is a big deal, but in order to access my free 250 minutes, they are now requiring a $3.95 activation fee. I didn’t bother to activate it, as my free latitude perk (60 free minutes) did not require an activation fee, and I didn’t need any more time.  This is a new fee since I sailed over Christmas/New Year on the Pearl.  I used the 250 minutes then without any fee.

The casinos use their own analysis to select who gets what promotions. If you have a host ask your host to be included. I don't ever recall getting an offer from Ceasar's for a cruise certificate. I get them from Twin River (now owns Ballys' in AC). I have also called NCL Casinos at Sea and they've said, oh you have a certificate from XXX and I can book from there.

Like I mentioned, I don't have the invite from Twin River. It may come or they may have decided to exclude me this time, totally legit decision for them to make, either way.

I fortunately found my hosts number and texted her.  The Golden Nugget in Las Vegas is doing a NCL cruise certificate event October 9-10.  I  was able to secure my invitation!  With the cost increase in cruises, I am thrilled to be back on the list to receive invites.  I am booked for three cruises between now and the end of January, but in my opinion.....you  can never have too many cruises booked!

Thank you  everyone for the posts and information.

I doubt that was a coincidence. Most likely anyone with a bad cough stayed in their cabins and everyone else probably was holding their coughs to avoid being looked at ...

That certainly may be the case.  Either way, it made for a better and healthier experience for the rest of us.

  4. My husband and I were on this trip, too.  We could not have asked for a better experience considering the circumstances.  We felt that NCL/Epic staff was doing everything in their power to make our cruise and two day extension a great experience.  I would also like to say that it was the happiest and healthiest cruise that I have ever been on.  We did not run in to any grumpy passengers and NOBODY was sick.  I mean... never once did I hear a person coughing!  It was amazing to see, as there were always sick people on our past cruises.  As far as grumpy goes, there was some tension on the ship as people were trying to make alternate travel arrangements, but even then, they were not being mean and blaming people for the situation.  Overall, I would say that this was one of our top three cruises to date.

For our Epic sailing on March 22, NCL has posted the following message on our check-in page under the Arrival Time tab:

“As a Haven or suite guest, a Platinum, Platinum Plus, Ambassador Latitudes Rewards member or a guest with air travel or transfers provided by Norwegian, you do not need to select your arrival time to the pier. We ask that you arrive no earlier than 2:00 pm - 2:30 pm and no later than 1 hour prior to departure and we will get you settled in.”

Clearly, as mnventure pointed out, they really want to get everyone from the prior cruise off the pier before reloading.

Interesting.  We are on the March 8 sailing and this is what my check-in tab says:

"As a Haven or suite guest, a Platinum, Platinum Plus, Ambassador Latitudes Rewards member or a guest with air travel or transfers provided by Norwegian, you do not need to select your arrival time to the pier. We ask that you arrive no earlier than 9:30 am - 10:00 am and no later than 1 hour prior to departure and we will get you settled in."

$25 minimum is a Joke, could never pay passline higher than $10. Was the table played at all, is it possible to ask for minimum to be dropped if no-one is playing at such high levels.

There were 5 or 6 people playing at that time.  We never went back again, so I do not know if they will lower the limits.

I just got off the Joy a week ago today.  They were very strict on the dinner coupons and did not allow you to stray from what it said you could have.  At Cagney's we were allowed to pick one appetizer, one entree, and one dessert just as the coupon stated.  I really wanted a salad, but they were not considered an appetizer.  I asked if I could have a salad instead since they were priced less than the appetizers.  I was told, no.  I also asked if I could substitute a side to go with my steak instead of a dessert and was again told, no.  This has not been my experience on other ships.  I guess I was just surprised at how rigid the experience felt.  I just went with the flow and ordered what I was allowed.  In the future, I think that I will really look over menus and have a good idea of which restaurants will give me a more balanced meal before I choose the restaurant.  I could have also purchased the items, but fortunately for me, my daughter had the dining package.  She was allowed to choose two appetizers or one app and one salad, an entree, two side dishes, and a dessert.  I was able to get some salad and vegetables from her to go with the steak.  By the way, the ribeye steak was amazing!  I liked it better than my daughters filet mignon.

I am wondering how hard it is going to be to get into the late comedy shows if I show up as a standby. I don't want to make reservations as I want to decide on going based on how I feel. Any secrets just walking right in?

Just got off the Joy a week ago today.  We went to the comedy club four times and it was never completely full.

Thank you for your time, hope you have a wonderful cruise. I wondered if you could see the usual minimum bet on 3 Card poke and Craps. Also what are they paying on 2 & 12 Field bets - is it double.

I just got off the Joy a week ago today.  My husband wanted to teach my daughter and her boyfriend how to play craps.  The minimum bet was set at $25.  Needless to say, there were no lessons happening at that price.

  10. While I have cruised quite a bit with NCL, I have never had a cruise depart at 9pm.  I have two upcoming cruises with this departure time.  My question is, will boarding be like past cruises where boarding starts around 11:00-12:00 or is it likely to be delayed until later in the afternoon?  I want to plan for something to do during the day if we cannot board around lunchtime.

Thank you in advance for any advice/experiences you have with this.
