  1. Just got off of the Edge on Sunday and I'm sorry to report the smell is still there. Most noticeably in the sunset bar area and even the outdoor ocean view cafe area. At certain times it was so bad we had to leave the area. It literally smelled like an overflowing outhouse! Several people smelled it too. Also noticed it in our friends deck 3 forward area. We reported it but never received an explanation. I hope they can figure it out. It didn't ruin our cruise though. We loved the Edge. Amazing ship! Just a little stinky at times lol!

  2. I like the design. I think it looks futuristic. It was a time for a change instead of the same old same old. It is a completely new design. Endoskelton vs exoskeleton so I'm curious how it affects the views and spaces and to see how it sails. And if this new bow type smooths things out then that's great! Really Looking forward to March!

  3. You would miss the lifeboats with this cabin. There is a walkway that starts right outside that cabin (you can see the railing). There has been some discussion about whether that is temporary for the build or just for crew to access the bow. At the very least, it is a ledge just below that balcony - not sure how wide it is, but it will affect your view directly down to the water (that's not important to me personally, but is to many), and at its worst it could be a place for people to walk by your balcony. Otherwise, you would be on a bump out and have a good view out (and fore and aft) - that rail may or may not remain (may be changed to something more permanent-looking) and not sure if that would be a minor annoyance (in front of part of lower part of balcony window).

I think you would need to weigh in on the possible walkway there (hopefully just for crew, but still might have people outside your balcony). If they have other options available, I could find those for you and you could compare and find the best one (or at least our best guess what might be the best). :D

Thank you for your help That's a great deal of information and I really appreciate it! I see exactly what you are talking about and I'm not too sure if I would enjoy a walkway there so I might ask for a different cabin The problem is my sailing is pretty much sold out and we have an infinite verandah guarantee which they confirmed it would not be obstructed so I don't know if that qualifies if there is a railing there because to me that would be an obstruction.

  4. Great thread! Thanks for all of the info. Would anyone be able to tell me if cabin 6125 would be obstructed by the lifeboats? It looks like it's either on the same level or just slightly above. I have been offered this cabin but I'm not sure about the location. I think the life boats are on deck 5?

    Thanks

  5. *UPDATE*

It only seemed fair to definitively close this thread by posting a video of what has been LA DIADA of Sept 11th, 2017.

The video is focused only on the big demonstration in the afternoon though.

So as to understand the magnitudes, Catalonia (the whole region) has a population of 7.5 million people, and this particular event -the demonstration- once more, congregated in its capital Barcelona roughly a million and a quarter people. Can you imagine nearly 60 million people marching down the streets of Washington? well, that's what happens in Barcelona every year. And for those interested: zero incidents, nil, zip, nada.

To those that were lucky enough to be visiting that day... did you enjoy the National Day of Catalonia?

    Hi there.

I just noticed your posts and am wondering if you can give me some insight or updates on what is happening with the protests that are going on right now. We are arriving in Barcelona this Wednesday and staying for 3 nights near Las Ramblas prior to getting on The Royal Princess Sept 30. Should we be concerned about this as far as tourists go or is there any advice you can provide?

    Thanks in advance.

  6. Hi, does anyone know if these cabins have a roof above the balcony or is it open? Also what are the dividers made of (metal or frosted type glass) and can you hear a lot of noise coming from the theatre below.

I also read somewhere that if you are on deck 8 Emerald you can't have your balcony door open while at sea? Is that true?

Tried searching for this but unable to find info. Thanks

  7. Glad to hear you enjoyed your cruise.

Regarding getting an upgrade at the pier, was this a "free" upgrade and did they offer it up to you or did you inquire?

It was a total surprise to me. We are emerald status and when I checked in we were supposed to have an ocean view. The agent didn't mention anything to me. When I went to my cabin my key didn't work so I called guest services and was told of upgrade. A bit of a screw up on the agents side I guess but I wasn't complaining! Ended up with an aft corner balcony. Was amazing! :)

  8. Do yourself a favour and change cabins if you can. We had wonderful polite and quiet neighbours on the Summit last month but had an adjoining cabin and It was brutal. Could hear their casual conversations. I also found the a/c ventilation unit extremely loud. I don't know if it was just our cabin but it wasn't great. We were concierge class deck 7 aft in case your wondering.

  9. We were on The Summit just a month ago. I personally don't think it's in great shape and I indicated my feelings to Celebrity on the comment card.

We had quite a bit of rust at the bottom of our shower as did a few other people we spoke to. The shower curtains need to be replaced with doors. I can't stand the cheap curtains that attack you when your in the shower. The furniture is worn out and scratched considerably in areas and I really feel the solarium needs an overhaul. We found rusty drips on the wall and just in general it's not a very attractive solarium compared to the S class ships. Get rid of that god awful statue for starters!

Other then that she's a clean ship and by far the best service and crew we've ever had. In fact We just booked her again for next Jan. You will have a great cruise on The Summit just don't let these few areas bother you. It's not a new ship so you have to expect some wear and tear however I think there are some areas that could easily be spruced up without going into drydock or major refurb.

  10. We just had a concierge cabin on deck 7 near the aft. Whatever you do don't get one with adjoining cabins! The doors are paper thin! By far the worst I've ever encountered! You could here casual conversations from our neighbours. Luckily they were fairly quiet people or it could've been a brutal experience.
