I will be taking this cruise and am worried about this happening on my cruise. If this were to happen, would I be able to make an 11am train in Montreal?
Thanks,
Lisa
Just ask for an earlier disembarkation time i.e. 5.00 AM. You’ll be fine!

True, this was my first HA cruise, but have sailed with other cruise lines over 35 times. I have been on several cruises where we had to dock over night due to some kind of weather or mechanical problem, (one time in Singapore for 3 nights on NCL, once on Princess in Hamburg because of the Elbe river flow, one night in Yokohama on NCL,.... just to compare expensive ports that were last minute replacements) and always got the missed port fees back and have NEVER been charged for extra port night that was replaced. I guess HA does things differently.
It was a first time experience for us. The difference in this situation may be that in Quebec and Montreal an operation was taking place.

No port fees were reimbursed for Montreal.
Nor didn’t they charge us for extra port fees in Quebec. I suppose these where higher because of the extra stay...

HAL handled this situation very well! They gave sufficient information. We’ve disembarked the Zaandam in Québec this morning. They offered 3 options: the airport, Montréal cruise terminal or disembarkation in Québec. The first bus for early flights was scheduled at 4.30 AM. The first independent bus for the Montréal cruise terminal at 5.00 AM. We disembarked at 7.30 AM and arrived at the cruise terminal at 10.45 AM. Off course riding a bus isn’t as comfortable as being on a cruise ship but they cannot control the water or remove bridges.

11:00AM, which is the customary time world-wide.
Thanks, we’ll be there 11 AM sharp[emoji6]

At what time does check in usually starts on a 11 PM departure? 1 PM as usual?

Four weeks ago there were big umbrellas in our stateroom on the Koningsdam. In our first interior stateroom underneath the Queenslounge (red flag) they were there. Fortunately they moved us to navigation deck and no big umbrellas in there. At first I thought the umbrella was a Koningsdam thing but it also could have been a Mariner thing since it was our first cruise as 4 stars Mariners.

Too bad they are doing a very similar Asia Holiday itinerary next year compared to this year...

According to the EXC Department: The Transfer to Ho Chi Minh City typically drops guests off near the Bitexco Financial Tower.

On our overnight stay in Venice we went by foot from Piazzale Roma back to the ship. It was a 20 min walk.

Anytime you want. It’s just like a 24 hrs reception of a hotel.

@sir PMP: Thanks for your response!
@iancal & Oak Hill Cruisers: did you also dock at Chan May?
After using Google and a very deep dig on Chan May website I’ve found a schedule until years end and Westerdam isn’t on the list. So that makes me wonder.
These asian ports are horrible to research

In december we'll be doing a cruise in Asia. I am trying to figure out where the MS Westerdam will dock in Da Nang.
Tien Sa or Chan May?
I contacted HAL but they where pretty vague.
Where did you dock on your last Da Nang visit?

Is dry cleaning included for 4 stars mariners? Or only ‘regular’ laundry and pressing?

The chat feature is no longer an option either. It came in handy for me to be able to chat with a live rep at HAL. :(
When you’re in the ‘Manage cruise section’ where you can buy excursions, packages, etcetera a chat button is still displayed

At what time does Independent Disembarkation usually start at Port Everglades?
