  1. I havent taken a Cruise since 2010 and now its time for us again to Cruise, in February 2017 we will be boarding :)

But I have trouble deciding which one to take.

The options are down to 8 nights Eastern route on the Freedom the 5th of February or 7 nights on the Allure western route also on the 5th of February.

The price on these two Cruises are about the same, Allure being marginally more expensive but that is not the question here. The difference is only about 250$ totally.

    The criterias are:

2 adults and 2 Children, age 12 and 14, 2 cabins needed. Inside standard is fine enough for us.

Western or Eastern route really doesn't matter for us, that is not the big question.

I guess the question for us is what ship to choose. For my wife and Children it doesn't matter either so its up to me to decide :)

I know Allure is newer and bigger but until just about recently Freeedom was the largest. Is Freedom faded or is it still pefectly fine? We are in no way snobs that demand absolute luxury but if getting to choose between mediocre and superb of course we choose the better if at similar price.

Will we be just as happy on the Freedom as Allure? I haven't cruised in 7 years but I do remember that when going on the Majesty in 2010 it was not the same as when we cruised Jewel in 2008. We were really blown away on the Jewel but even if we had a good time on Majesty it was not up to the same standard according to us.

Is there a similar difference between the Allure and the Freedom as Freedom is an older ship?

Other things to consider is the size of Allure and one night extra on the Freedom. Our kids are large and wellmanered enough to roam around themselves on the day but we don't want to loose the feeling of being on a ship instead of a resort..

So please help me solve this pleasant problem ;)

Our family did Allure for March Break and we just got off the Freedom last week. Without a doubt I would choose the Allure. More to do for the kids and also the entertainment and service on Allure is 10X better . We couldn't wait to get off Freedom last week, we did not want to leave Allure. For us, it's a no brainer, go on Allure.

  2. If I have the Royal Replenish package, and I order fresh squeezed OJ with my room service breakfast, will there be an extra charge? I believe the OJ is included in my RR package. Thanks.

Was on the Freedom last week. I am not definitely sure, but I think you will be charged for the OJ through room service. My son had the soda package and they said they would charge him if he wanted a coke through Room Service.

  3. Cold winters tend to torment the mind with hallucinations of better circumstances. A prime example, I saw this under the rim of my double-double the other day. I immediately knew that I was off on a tangent, not just because Tim Horton's has never given away a cruise, but mainly because all you ever really get to win is the chance to play again.

For some of us, these coffee cups are a rite of passage to springtime, just like the rodent that predicts the end of winter or the actual melting of snow. It is time for me to head south to somewhere warmer. For others of you reading right now, you might just be wondering what the heck is a large double-double, let alone why would you roll up the rim of a coffee cup. For those familiar with these cups, I don't have to say anything more.

So if you need to visualize what my mind has been seeing since the weather got colder, take a few minutes and watch this Kenny Chesney video for "Save it for a Rainy Day". If the crystal blue waters don't have you thinking about heading south tomorrow, you must already be there.

Edit: For some reason the link isn't working on the CC branded app

They need to get Timmy's on the Allure!!! Boarding in 3 days and we cannot wait to get away. It's been a weird winter. By the way I heard your chances of winning are better if you buy a large vs a medium at Timmy's. Won a free donut today.

  4. Hello,

We are looking at booking another cruise over 2016 Xmas Holiday Season. We are looking at Serenade 10 night Southern or Allure 10 Eastern. My concern is that the Serenade will be too small as they are love love love the Allure and Oasis. The Serenade is small and doesn't seem to have as much to do but would love to visit the southern Caribbean this time. We have kids 17. 15. 7 & 5. Please let me know your opinions if you have sailed either one with kids.

    Thanks!

    Hello,

We sailed on the Serenade in 2011 and Oasis in 2012. My son definitely prefers the Adventure Ocean programs on the Oasis vs the Serenade. We only did 7 nights on each ship and not 10 nights, my son, who was 9 years old at the time we sailed on the Serenade, does not want to go back to that ship. He loves the Oasis class ships, there are just so many things to do.

For my wife and I, we loved the service on the Serenade, it was the best service we had on all the RCCL ships we been on (Freedom, Independence, Oasis and Serenade). The service just seems so much more attentive on the smaller ships.

With 4 kids, I would suggest you go with the Allure, with so many activities available for your kids, you just may have some time for yourself over the 10 nights:)

    Just my opinion
