  1. We were looking at trying a different beach this time in St Thomas (Lindqvist beach) but would also like to go somewhere we can get a massage on the beach.  It doesnt have to be fancy - just peaceful and relaxing.  Thank you!

We also prefer Sapphire and stay at the SBRM when staying on STT. If we were looking at another beach (and had at least 8 hrs in port) we’d either taxi to Lindqvist beach, arguably the nicest beach on STT, or if we had more time we’d take the Red Hook ferry to STJ and enjoy a beach there.

For Lindqvist we’d grab sandwiches and drinks at the port and enjoy the beach away from fellow cruise excursion passengers.
For STJ, Honeymoon is nice and les touristy than Trunk. Cinnamon is another nice option. 😃
I assume you’d be going in your own whatever beach you choose? The Red Hook ferry is a 20 - 25 minute, $10/pp  taxi from Havensight, same as the other East End beaches.

What is approx cost to taxi to Lindqvist beach?

You are the only ship scheduled that day 5k pax), that can change but at least not a 6-ship day.
if you scroll down the main page you will see many recent threads with several beach recommendations for different experiences. Short day and Lindbergh Bay (aka Emerald Beach) is convenient…the East End beaches add more beauty but a 30 minute/$11pp  taxi each way…

Which east end beaches are preferred for clear water?

Roughly 35 minutes- the driver stayed w/ us for the day... $28.00pp.  Please note, we had to wait till his van was full before leaving the port- we were one of the first off the ship and waited aprox. 30 minutes till more passengers came off and wanted to go to Smuggler's Cove.

Thank you so so much.  Our cruise just changed ports 2 days prior to cruising and this helps me immensely!

We just returned... Smuggler's Cove was fabulous!  Great snorkeling & not crowded one bit!20190926_122722.thumb.jpg.648143a19cffd221f9461c3100c371fe.jpg20190926_122249.thumb.jpg.498c9a133b93d5f1d315c2472eba1af7.jpg20190926_122427.thumb.jpg.c30e9f1e117d16aa30d000d071111d03.jpg

Can you please tell me the cost and amount of time it takes to get there via taxi?  Also, if there was an issue with the driver coming back to get you or if there were taxis there?  Thanks so much

Just got back from the Breeze. Nice trip. Researched before the trip and even though the Falls would be cool, didn't think the Hike would be something I'd want to do. I've been to the Blue Hole in Jamaica , and it was awesome, so we have that memory. So to Amber Cove, thought we'd just hang by the $85 Million pool area that Carnival built. We did start at the pool. It was nice, (tip: When you get off the ship and go thru the shopping area, hang a right. You can see the Cabana's on the water as you walk off the pier.) So we walked more towards the "lazy river" and bathrooms. We put our stuff down and was going to make a day out of it. For us, we'd rather be on a beach if we are cruising. So I left the family and went for the 10 minute walk to the taxi's. So for $2 pp they will take you to the beach that is right beside the pier. (beats the hell out of walking!) They want to take you to another beach that is in town for $50 round trip. We just stuck to our plan.

So for a $4 snack from the pier.

We brought our own water and snorkel gear

$2x3 plus tip total = $10 Nobody really hassles you . Guys want you to order drinks from them, some people were, we didn't. The guy who talked with us and led us to our chair, wanted us to buy from his shop. We didn't buy anything, but he had some decent stuff. He also let us know we could get Wi Fi free from the Resort that is right there.

Also Massage girls came buy. Seemed like the price was right $35 for an hour and they have a place besides the beach to do it. Then some lady came buy who was cheaper, but we declined.

So for us, not just staying at a pool, this beach was fine! Had a tree line for shade, it was not rocky, and you could walk far out with no waves so perfect for kids.

I did tip the dude $6 just because we didn't buy any drinks or stuff from his shop. He seemed fine. The taxi was right there to get back to the ship.

$30 beach day, and we went back to the ship to eat.

(You can see the beach from the Cruise ship if you look to the left of the pier. There's a few chairs and you can see the Resort buildings. It's nothing to make you say WoW, but for us, it was nice and relaxing. We'd do it again.

Can you please tell me where to ask the taxi driver to take us?  My ship was just rerouted and I leave tomorrow.  I would love to get that beach massage.  Thanks so much.

Dear CD,  If all your luggage is carry-on; you are first off and through customs with a photo screening and a dog sniffing your nether regions. Those of us in YC can leave with you all, but if we have to collect luggage we will be held back in the terminal. Reason cited was that no luggage has been unloaded yet from ship. Disembarkation took place at 7:00 AM. When we were finally allowed to go down the escalator and through photo screening, the only luggage in the terminal were the gold tagged YC. The other passenger luggage was yet to be unloaded from the ship. A host of porters to help you out of terminal. Depending on where you are in the long line of carry-on passengers, I would say your debarkation took about 10 minutes from ship to taxi.

I am also wanting to catch a flight (out of FLL) at 11:30 but dont know that I can fit a whole week into a carry on.  For those not in YC, how early can we start to get off the ship?  Thank you!

  8. We totally enjoyed the lunch on the motu, prepared by Patrick's family. There were only 12 of us on this portion of the tour. We did a circumnavigation of Bora Bora, and stopped at their dock. There were nothing but smiles on all of our faces as we explored the motu on our own, and the food was delicious. Perfectly grilled lobster tails as well as pit roasted suckling pig, and a delicious chicken stew with coconut and spinach. The banana dessert was delicious, even if we were a little apprehensive about the pink color. Good champagne and wine were provided. We considered it to be a meal that was more than worth 100 dollars in French Polynesia (even taking into account the buffet lunch we missed on the Paul Gauguin) and the atmosphere couldn't be beat. You only live once, and 100 dollars isn't much compared to the total price of the trip.

Thank you! That does sound amazing!!

  9. The first time I saw Patrick was over 15 years ago when he was still fire dancing. I've taken his tour several times over the years and with the exception of one time the experience was very good. Go for it ...

I should have asked my question another way. The 3 stop snorkel with Patrick is about $100 (3 hour) and the (5 hour) with lunch is double that price at $200pp. Is the lunch really worth it? Thank you again!!

  10. Thank you! Have you done the Lagoon Excursion with Maohi Nui or Lagoonarium-Open Air Aquarium Snorkeling Experience? The Lagoon Excursion looks to be the same as (Patricks) just without lunch. If it goes to the same places and I will only miss lunch and save $200 (2 of us) then would you recommend that? Thank you again!

  11. Thank you!

I assume you are asking about Rangiroa? It is kind of hard to explain the set up- I wish I had taken a photo! Not sure if this is helpful, but I made you a little map...

You can see my artistic skills end with photography lol

All of the blue is water. The tenders drop you off at a spot that juts out a little bit from the land, kind of a peninsula. Follow the red arrow and just walk straight across the very narrow strip of land and you will see a low cement wall lining the property of one of the local's houses. That's where we left our bags. The water there is very shallow and rocky at first, but then drops off about 50ft from shore. It wasn't the easiest entry point, but once you get deep enough, it was totally worth it.

I also noted on the map that there was a huge ship docked at the end of the peninsula. It did not impact our snorkeling, but I was aware it was there in case it started to sail away while we were still in the water! It didn't, of course, and I don't know how often there is a ship docked there.

I appreciate all of your artistic skills :) Looks very close to the tender drop off. Thanks so much! Cant wait to read the rest of your review!

  12. When we booked Goff's Caye through Island Marketing, they took us to the booth at the port so I think it's the same company. Not sure about the price when booking there vs. online though sorry.

Just a heads up there is limited shade on Goff's, so just something to keep in mind if that is a concern.

Sending positive thoughts for your Goddaughter.

Thank you so much Canadian Tyler! I will look for the booth. My Goddaughter thanks you for your kind words :)

  13. I want to take my Goddaughter to Goffs Caye but cant book ahead of time. She is still doing chemo and wont know if she will feel up to it until that day. How much more will it be to book with a vendor at port once we get off the ship vs. the $40 I saw it for online? Thanks!
