  1. There are more food options besides the bbq buffet. Not many people know this.

When you get off the tender take a right and walk over the pedestrian bridge and walk up and around. It’s not much of a walk. There are other beach areas as well as a basketball court and restrooms. I call it the quiet side. It’s very nice. Princess sets up these little food carts with servers. I believe there were three different ones. We didn’t have any issues with flies.

  2. I believe this is incorrect. The price difference is by ship.

I have taken a teenage granddaughter three times. She was not offered, nor could she have accepted wine, but her charge was the same as mine.

Just FYI, she was offered the non-alcoholic drinks of her choice.

Ok, thanks for the correction. I could’ve got my cruise lines mixed up. Thank you

  3. 1) Print out 2 copies of your boarding passes.

    2) Google FttF and print out the little red logo.

    3) Cut out the little logo and tape it to one copy of your boarding passes, making certain it is positioned exactly in the same spot on everyone’s pass.

    4) Make a photocopy of the “cut n taped” boarding passes to carry with you, and shred the original.

Get to the port as early as you want and present the “FttF” boarding passes to the crowd control staff, as they guide you to the priority check-in.

When you check-in, make sure you present the authentic boarding passes without the logo (so you don’t raise suspicion).

As you step away from the check-in counter represent the FttF passes to the staff who directs you to the FttF sitting area.

Viola - earlier check in, earlier boarding.

If you really have large cajones, you can carry the charade onto the ship and try to get priority tendering. LOL.

Honest? Absolutely not! But worth suggesting for the entertainment value of the ensuing comments that begin now. LOL

ROFLMAO! - I myself wouldn’t do this, but it sure seems like it would work. Awe, loopholes! Thanks for the entertainment factor that will follow with the replies.

  4. So my kids will be 14 and 13 when we cruise. I told them this trip they will get a bit of freedom with very STRICT rules! (They are excellent boys so I am not concerned) My question is I know there is some kind of texting plan but do not know much about it. Is it done via the hub app? I dont want facebook or internet or anything like that! ONLY texting on ship with the kids. How much is it? Is it priced per person? Per cabin? Any information would be very helpful! Thanks in advance!

Not always reliable. Make sure you stress to your kids NOT to take their phones out of airplane mode. I have read many horror stories about teenagers and incredibly large cell phone bills (thousands $$$) that appear after cruises. Make sure everyone understands the cell phone carriers rules before your trip. Also, have you thought about the small handheld walkie talkie radios? We see lots of passengers using these. They seem to work better when the volume is at a lower setting.

  5. "Worth it" is totally subjective.

If you're a somewhat picky eater, mainly sticking to beef and chicken, you probably wouldn't enjoy it.

You don't order from the menu, but rather are served small portions of each course on the menu. It consists of appetizers, soup, entrees, and desserts.

What is referred to as the new menu includes as entrees such as pork belly (my favorite), lamb, quail, and more.

A couple of entrees on the old menu are crab stacks, duck, and sea bass.

Both menus are delightful and delicious.

It's a fun evening for adventurous diners and I won't include any spoiler alerts.

I believe it includes some nice wines that are paired with your courses throughout your Chefs Table experience. [emoji485][emoji485]

  6. Well, this was certainly enlightening and entertaining!

We have decided to bring the soda onboard.

Our family has been a soda package purchase one for the last seven cruises. The service has declined for us, especially the last two cruises. The lack of service, increased wait times, and even more limited options no longer make the convenience worth the cost. So, we shall find out if the hassle is worth the savings. The soda is a big deal on vacation, since I am one of those scary mamas who limit things like soda, red dye, and screen time on a regular basis. My older two look forward to their root beer on vacation. This, hopefully, will translate into motivated helpers when going through security to board the ship.

Any suggestions as to the method of toting will be appreciated. Currently deliberating the pros and cons of the boxes versus an additional rolling suitcase filled with soda cans... (and yes, I am serious. When traveling with toddlers and pre teens, logistics matter.)

Thanks to those of you with helpful and/or entertaining advice. It is much appreciated. Not sure who I would be leaving the toddlers with, if they weren't on the ship. Glad there are those of you with lots of family to take your kids for a week at the drop of a hat. I wouldn't know about that sort of thing. Our kids travel with us. They also enjoy lots of time at the Camp Carnival. Whose staff members we get to know and whom we tip well at the end of our stay.

Just a side note for your kids -

Take RootBeer, etc. over to the Lido deck to the diy soft serve ice cream machine for floats. It’s available 24 hours a day. They will always have glasses there as well. Enjoy your cruise!

  7. https://www.totalwine.com/cider/apple-cider/angry-orchard-the-muse/p/137280750-1?s=1001

I really am not a huge fan of "wine", but I enjoy drinking this. I have never seen it offered onboard, but I have seen the Angry Orchard bottles... If I wanted to bring this as a carry on would they allow it, since it "looks" like a bottle of wine? I'm not sure what the difference between cider and wine is, so if this is a dumb question, sorry!

What cruise line and when is your sail date? I’ll be following this thread, because I would prefer this over wine also.

  8. Where do you sign up? This is first time on Princess.

We usually head straight over to the Sanctuary right after we board. There will be employees there and they can give you a tour and all the information about it. They will have a book to sign you up. I’m pretty sure you can even pick your location (chaise lounges) on your days.

  9. Thank you for all of the responses. Auto correct is terrible if you don't proof read. Yes it is the Regal.

Since you all seem to be knowledge. What is the status of the TV entertainment on the Grand. Has that been updated to match the Regal?

    Thank you

We were on the Regal for two weeks in January and the HC buffet was great! In fact, the best ever on Princess. Then we were on the Grand for ten days in February and the HC buffet was terrible. The breakfast items were the same daily (If you like those crunchy hash browns like McD’s you can ask at the buffet counter for them). Lunch and dinner were mediocre at best. Crab Shack was horrible and wouldn’t suggest you waste your money on it. Crown Grill was okay. I must say the service was great on the Grand and is a reason we will be back on it in September for Alaska.

  10. Yes

Yes. $20.00 half day or $40.00 full day per person. We make sure we don’t sign up for it on port days, since the ship is practically quiet anyways. FYI- there is usually an adults only section and pool right next to the sanctuary on most ships that’s free. We generally hang out there and have never been disappointed. Also, if you’re a sun lover, most sanctuaries have been done in such a way that the majority of that section is covered by shade. Very nicely done, but we love the sun and there are usually a limited number of lounges in the sun. If you think it’s still for you, I recommend you carefully pick your days and sign up early. Keep in mind the port days if you’re planning on being off the ship.

  11. We are flying in to LA a few days prior to sailing hence we haven't booked their transfers.

Is it possible to book a transfer for disembarkation to LAX from San Pedro once we're on the ship.

We booked with a private ta.

    Thanks.

We no longer use Princess shuttles or other private shuttle companies. We gather our luggage, go through customs and walk outside and use the Uber app. We did this last December in San Pedro and it was less than $15.00 for two people with 5 pieces of luggage (2 large, 2 med. & 1 garment bag). Good luck

  12. Still don't understand why we get NONE even after signing up with Princess to get last minute offers. Someone suggested it's because I have two cruises currently booked but they are both European cruises this summer. How can they be so stupid as to not send to someone who is interested?? Think their marketing department doesn't know their target audience...

We also have two cruises booked and do not receive these emails (offers). I have signed up for them numerous times. :-/

  13. If Cyndee is a hip swinging and fast moving (able to weave into the tightest spots) young man, then, No he was not working the IC in Nov/Dec.

Was on the Emerald Nov. 26th- Dec. 3rd and don’t recall this person. Too bad, because maybe we would’ve had better service. A few barista’s could use more training to learn the basics. I switched to specialty teas so I would know what I was getting in my cup. Hopefully the IC will be better on the Regal Jan. 7th-21st.

  14. I did a post cruise transfer tour (drop off at the airport) that included an air boat ride and some gardens. I thought it was good :)... better than I expected and reasonably priced. I would do it again.

I don't know if they have the same sort of tour but with a return to the ship for 'BTBers'.

    Thank you

  15. On a B2B we have taken the Air Boat Ride and Flamingo Gardens tour and found it to be very enjoyable. So if you do not need to do your laundry, and like gators and gardens....On the tour we did see this little guy.

There were not too many people taking the tour that where getting back on the ship so we where combined with people going to the airport, so on the 'return' the first stop was to drop those people off at the airport before returning us back to the ship, which was some where around 2-2:30. To get back on we had a 'In Transit' card and our cruise card to get back on board, but instead of going through the line where new passengers where getting on, we where directed to where the crew gets back on at the port. Was very fast and could skip the photographers, etc. But we wanted a photo (bought the photo package) so did stand line and went that way. Was kind of neat getting back on in Fort Lauderdale with out roll-ons, etc. knowing all my stuff was already unpacked and in our room.

Thank you for sharing your experience and tips. Great things to know!
