  1. Did you do the Dr Suess Breakfast? It looks delicious and different

Do you recall how to sign up for it, do you do ahead of time before you board the ship or after you board?

My kids are teenagers and had no interest in the Dr. Suess breakfast. Looked fun from the pictures I saw, though.

  2. We did several comedy shows. Lenny Schmidt was hilarious. He does a pretty good family show, but his adult show is really good! Laughed through the whole thing!

Saw "Just June" early in the cruise - not real good. She left halfway through the cruise and Lenny got on. Great trade!

If you get a chance to see him, I would highly recommend it!

  3. did you happen to book another cruise on board ...if so is it still 100 OBC for a 7 night sailing and receive 2 family and friends vouchers?

Sorry, didn't book another one on board. Next one will be RCL - have a free 4 day waiting for me over there! :D

  4. What are the shows on Magic? We will be on the week of Memorial Day.

We didn't do many shows. The only one we went to was America Rocks, which was pretty good. Some pretty talented musicians there. I meant to grab the stack of Fun Times on the dresser before we left, but forgot to. I don't remember many of the other shows. I know there was a family show where they played games, but that is the only other one I can remember. Sorry I'm not much help on this one... :o

  5. Stingray City is absolutely fantastic. Our kids loved it! There are lots of ways to do it, Carnival offers excursions there, or you can book with a local vendor. We booked with Captain Marvin and it was great! (Much less expensive than the Carnival offering).

Another great option was snookeling. It is a combination of snorkeling and scuba. Seafarer Adventures was absolutely fantastic! They go right in the harbor where the cruise ships dock, so it's easy access to the downtown area when you are done. And there are some breathtaking coral formations in that harbor.

And, if your kid is a beach kid, there are some great beach options. You can always spend some time on 7 mile beach, which is absolutely beautiful. There are some great snorkeling spots along that beach too. That is the main beach in Grand Cayman with lots of resorts, but the beach is public access.

Or, if you want to spend the day on the beach, you could go to Rum Point. It's on the northern side of the island. It's about 45 minutes away from port, so you would want to make a day of it. Great beach to just relax and hang out for the day. Lots of shade, some little shops and bars/restaurants. Starfish Point is near there too. You might be able to get over there if you go to Rum Point. There are also some tours that combine Stingray City and Starfish Point into the same excursion.

There are lots of great options! Just keep Googling and checking Trip Advisor, and asking on the boards!

Have a great trip! We love the Caymans!

  6. We go in September. Smallest ship we have ever booked. But, you have already commented on that. What were your ports of call and what excursions did you do, if any? Looking forward to your review!

It will all be in my review, but the short version is:

Cozumel - Dolphin Push, Pull, Swim and lunch, and the kids did zip lining too.

Grand Cayman - Stingray City and Snorkeling

Montego Bay - Dunns River Falls and Tubing on the White River.

All were absolutely fantastic, and worth every penny!

The review might take me a little while. I want to get it completed before I start posting. I've tried to do reviews before, and I get a few days into them, then get sidetracked and people get frustrated with me. I hate it when people do that, I get emotionally invested in a review, and then they just stop in the middle. So, I want to avoid that. :D

  7. So, with the casino, Centuries bar, 70's nightclub, and Swingtime Lounge being smoking venues, I guess I won't be using deck 5 much :-)

Deck 5 was very smoky. As soon as you stepped off the elevator you got hit with it. Didn't bother me much, but the wife and kids didn't like it. Once you got to the main atrium area by the fun shops, it seemed to dissipate quite a bit. But, very noticeable in the casino area of the deck.

  8. We just sailed last week. The first formal night was Sunday night and the second was Thursday night. Depending on your itinerary, it may change. Ours was the first full sea day (elegant), then we had 3 port days, then 2 more full sea days of which the first was elegant.

FWIW... Lobster is only offered on the first cruise elegant night.

    Have fun on your cruise!

  9. we are sailing on Saturday! So excited.

I'm mostly interested in knowing how the service was - rooms and food

does it feel crowded? As of today, there are only 24 rooms not booked and I bet they fill those up! Is it just swarming with people everywhere? I'm hoping for some peace and quiet maybe on Serenity...

Saturday will come quick! The following Saturday will come even quicker. :(

I don't know how many rooms were vacant on our cruise, but my guess is that there weren't many, as this is spring break time. It was crowded, but not crazy. The only time it really felt crowded was the muster drill. Serenity seemed like it always had chairs available. The main area around the main pool with the video screen filled up all 3 sea days, but there were always chairs in other areas. We got there by 10 or 1030 each day and were able to find 4 or 5 chairs together on deck 10 overlooking the pool, near the dj stand.

Seems like they do a pretty good job of keeping people spread out. The only other place that felt crowded was on deck 5, walking around before our late dinner seating. With all the people trying to get their photos taken and people coming and going from dinner seatings, it got a little crazy around there a few times too.

But overall, not bad, and I would do it again in a heartbeat! Have a great trip!

  10. If the photographers would leave everyone alone, the lines would move much quicker.

    THIS!! Totally!!!

We just were there last Monday on the Freedom. We had FTTF, but as others have said, it does not matter at this port. We headed downstairs right at 8am, after they had already begun to let people off. We were off the ship and at our meeting point at the very front of the pier within 20 minutes.

The biggest PITA was the photographers. The gangplank is only about 1 person wide (walk in single file line), and they are parked immediately at the end of it. They practically force you to stop for a picture. If they would move it just a few feet away, then people who want to stop still could, and those of us in a hurry can still get by. The way they had it set up, we basically had to push our way through.

Don't get me wrong, I understand why they do it, the profits must be CRAZY with the prices they charge for those photos. I don't want to begrudge anybody the opportunity to make money. But it does significantly slow the process of getting off the ship in port.
