1. We seemed to have missed the ships quota for tours in Rome. Does anyone have suggestions for an off ship tour of Rome. You would think RCCL would have accommodations for as many as needed form the ship. Being Diamond Plus doesn't seem to help either. Thanks for any info offered.

  2. I also am Diamond and had one cruise with NCL. All I can say is when they handed me a beeper at the main dining room of all places I vowed to never again set foot on one of their ships. A BEEPER for petes sake. I'd expect that at an Outback but not on a cruise. Being only a few nights shy of D+ if I get handed a beeper on an upcoming cruise on Quantum with it's Dynamic Dining I'll be searching for another line.

PS. Each time I ate in the MDR it was only able to provide service to half of it's capacity. Once more, never again for me.

  3. We've sailed on this trip from Baltimore many times. I'm fortunate in that I don't get seasick but my wife does and takes Bonine. What I do is check this site on a regular basis say four days from sailing and it gives a pretty accurate picture of wave conditions up to 180hrs out. Hope it's useful for you. If so bookmark it for your future cruises.

  4.
You book your dining options online, why in gods name would you think you would have a beeper?????? LOL sorry your easily worked up aren't you....:D
No, not easily worked up. I actually was handed a beeper on the Nor Gem about four years ago for a dining venue that was only half full. Forty five minutes later I was beeped and was accommodated with a seat in a HALF full room. If I did have a short fuse I would probably be getting out of the brig just about now.:)
  5. I tried the NCL dining format once and didn't like it at all. Unless you made reservations each night or heaven forbid change your mind about which place you eat that night you were handed a BEEPER!!!!

I am already booked on the Quantum and will give this a try BUT if I'm ever handed a BEEPER it will be the last time I set foot on a RCI ship with that dining format and should they make it fleetwide I won't be back even being a few nights short of DP. I refuse to stand in line like I'm at a strip mall chain restaurant and then get sub-par service from a wait staff that doesn't know where it's tip is coming from.

  6. Just getting back to this after joining the real world for a bit.

Quite a few of you accuse me of things which you either make an assumption or just plain try to put words in my mouth.

I honestly think many of you should go back and reread this thread as I have. I can only think that some of you may have a reading comprehension problem.

I 've not complained about anything other than being treated equally.

What happened in the past has no bearing on what goes on now.

As for your " witless barb " comment Mom, shame on you. Say's a lot about you doesn't it.

I've had enough of this and must agree with another poster who said this is why I don't read CC. This is my last post on this matter but I'm sure the likes of Mom will continue to bash me for a few pages more. Have at it. I'm sure it will make you feel somehow superior.

Thanks to the many who were able to see this thread and comprehend it, seeing that some are not treated equally and FOR NO GOOD REASON. BYE

  7.
It depends on how you look at it. We cruise ships both with and without DL's. On ships without a DL, I can get my drink at a discount. On ships with a DL, I pay full price because the DL doesn't carry my preferred liquor. I refuse to get my undies in a knot over a couple of free drinks a night on a cruise.
I don't get the free drinks. My taste buds don't deserve that brutality. Oh, and my undies aren't in a knot.
  8.
So a straight answer means that I'm hearless? I'm confused.

Are you looking for answers or sympathy?

You get ALL of the benefits of being Diamond except for the drinks and some appetizers. and you will get those eventually. Being outraged will not change that.
It's heartless not hearless. But anyhow to continue to debate this with you is pointless as you have no concept of equality and I'm unable to convey that concept to you. That should do it for us pal. Reply as you wish, I won't.
  9. Let's have a hypothetical situation. A handicapped person who can't travel long distances by plane or motor vehicle yet lives close enough for a short ride to a port. He or she has been very loyal to one cruise line out of many at that port. Being unable to sail on other ships that the line has to offer as he or she is unable to get to should he or she expect to be treated equally for his or her loyalty???
  10. I am so sorry you got nasty responses.

I feel exactly the way you do. I am Diamond and will probably never make Diamond Plus, but it seems to me that the RCI policy is very wrong when it comes to Diamonds. The very same little card room where you get the stale trail mix and cheap wine "Diamond Event" would work just as well for the free drinks and some kind of little snack assortment.

It is not, at least to me, a matter of available space. I have been in Diamond Events on Voyager class ships where the room is much bigger than the Diamond Lounge newly installed on ships of the same class.

I don't know why RCI has this policy, but it seems to me that it discriminates. I am very glad that they are upgrading the fleet and making this well-earned perk available to all the Diamond members, as well as it should be.

For those who want to pick on me because I like my nightly free cocktail, go right ahead. Two drinks a night adds up, my friends.:)

I have been loyal to RCI for many years and the line has been extremely kind and generous to me with their reward for my loyalty.

There is NOTHING wrong with expecting equal treatment for all Diamond members.

Those are the feelings I wanted to convey but things somehow come out different for me. Glad to see I'm not alone.
