I have a two word first name, Mary Lou. It has been a pain for 70+ years. That said, my first and last names are always the same. It’s that darn second name. Sometimes put as first name, sometimes in full as middle name, sometimes an initial. It does seem to be more of a problem lately. Passport and divers license are correctly 2 word first, no middle. Thanks, Mom. NCL has it the “correct” way. Crossing fingers no problems.

I totally feel your pain, my first name is Anne Marie, I have no middle name.  It causes so much confusion.  When we refinanced our house I had to sign my name about 20 different ways because the documents listed all the ways my name had been listed legally.  I made sure that our kids had middle names when they were born so they didn't go through this.

    Thank you, that really helps!

Do you know when and where she made the reservations? Did she wait until she was on board or called ahead using an NCL PCC?  We are not able to do it using the app or website.

My Mom linked all of our reservations through the group department and dealt with one PCC who she was able to make the reservations through over the phone.

Hmm, interesting about "sus/sussed". About a year ago I heard it being used by middle school/high school kids all the time. Maybe it's a western/central NY thing!

I'm in Central CT and my nine year old B/G Twins use it all the time.  My nieces, who are 10 and 7, and live in MA also use it.  Apparently it means suspect...

Glad to hear it! Can you tell us who the Captain, General Manager, and Cruise Director are? (It’s to know if we have the same ones next week on the Transatlantic or if they take the opportunity to swap out a lot of officers and staff.)

I’ll try and find out as we are wandering the ship today. I know the Cruise Director is Merlina. She was the CD when we were on in July. She’s great!

    Hello,

We cruise on the Breakway in ~2 weeks. We have already checked in our family, but I could not find the section on where to enter food allergies. On our last cruise in November, we entered that info during check-in. Any advice? Do we just have to notify guest services after we're on the ship?

I think we are in the same cruise!  We are sailing with our friends whose teenage son has a tree nut allergy. My friend registered with the access desk and they told her that he can’t/shouldn’t eat in the buffet because they can’t assure there is no cross contamination.   He’ll pick his meals for the next day the night before.

I’d love to meet you and have a drink with you!  Unfortunately I can’t get the time off (I’m using my allotted vacation days to go on the Jewel in May.)

Hey wait-we both live in Vancouver!  We could meet for a drink off the ship…

Wait, you get vacation days as a teacher?  Both my husband and I are teachers (in the US) and we CANNOT take time off during the school year to take a vacation. We can only go away during school vacation. I only get two personal days a year. I am so jealous!  That being said two weeks from today I will be waiting to board the Breakaway in NO.

The only places I’m seeing this announcement so far are on social media forums and CC.

Cannot find any information about the update on NCL’s site or by doing a simple google search.

We’re cruising 04/07/2023 and would expect an email to be sent if this is indeed happening effective 04/01/2023.

Same, it's not listed anywhere on the NCL website so we shall see moving forward.

same cabin, same reservation#, same flight

different cabin, different reservation #, possibly different flights.

We are a family of 7, when I called to book 3 cabins, 2 will be connecting, I was given 3 reservation numbers. I have to log in with a different email for each reservation/cabin, even the connecting ones. We have decided we don't want to risk flying on separate flights so we are booking our flights independently of NCL.

I *think* you can call and link the reservations.  I know my Mom was able to link all 8 cabins when the 16 of us went on the Breakaway this past July.  It made making reservations easier.  I believe she called and was able to do so.  I can't answer anything about the flights though as we were all flying in, or driving, from different parts of the country.

  9. We went on the Breakaway with 16 other people this past July, 8 of us bought the texting app, I should have just set $10 on fire and threw it in the ocean.  The app was HORRIBLE to use for texting.  About two days into the cruise we figured out that we could iMessage and that is what we did moving forward (we all have iPhones).  We are back on the Breakaway April 9th and plan on just using iMessage to communicate between ourselves and the friends that are going.  On a side note my Mom had issues using iMessage but I don't think she had her settings correct and wouldn't let us "kids" take a look to see.

  10. We have sailed the Breakaway three times, and her sister ship the Getaway once.  We were just on the Breakaway this past July and are going on her again this April out of New Orleans.  I take the negative reviews with a grain of salt.  There are staff shortages EVERYWHERE.  I am a special education teacher and we are having issues staffing our department.  On ship we spend a lot of time on deck 8 on the waterfront, our balcony and just walking around.  We did experience some supply chain issues in July but they were able to restock when we ported in San Juan.  Were there annoyances, of course, but were they bad enough for me to write a negative review, no.  The hospitality industry as a whole is struggling, if you go in with the mind set that things won't be exactly has they have been in the  past, but hey I am still on vacation, you will have a great time.

  11. This is so funny, my husband and I were on RCL website last night mock booking for a possible Christmas 2023 cruise.  The base price came out cheaper but no drink package and specialty dining.  I said to my husband that this is smoke and mirrors, at least with NCL you know what the total price is with the drink and specialty dining when you book the cruise.

In our group, half of us do not have iPhones, but google phones (or whatever they are called).  I am under the impression that every phone would have to be an iphone.  Am I wrong?

Correct, in order for the SMS messages to go through it has to be iPhone to iPhone.  All of us are Apple users so we didn't have an issue.
