Two questions for you:
1. Were the pools heated?
2. Was there a fee to use the steam room/sauna?
TIA!
I only saw one little boy swimming the whole week, but we were not by the pool that often we were enjoying our balcony on the front of the ship. Sorry, we also did not go to the spa...

how was the noise being over the kids/teens center?
No noise whatsoever!

We were on the Sun May 16-May 23. The smell was there every time we went up or down the aft stairway. That is the only place we went that it was there that we noticed.

I can email you pictures of the room / post from two directions if you like. Send me your email - lawgirl86 at gmail dot com

Having booked an aft penthouse on the Sun for a 2017 an Alaska cruise tour, we are now having second thoughts after reading multiple comments about the smell of sewerage in the aft of that ship.
In looking toward a cabin switch to a forward penthouse is there any real difference between the ones on deck 9 versus deck 8. and is there a favorite for an Alaskan cruise...I am favoring 9003 but an a little concerned about the post in the center of the room.
I have never been on the Sun so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
We sailed in the forward facing corner suite on Deck 8 two weeks ago.(8203) It was awesome, especially considering the smell at the aft of the ship. DH and I think we had the best views of the ship, we used the balcony a LOT! The post in the center of the room was not an issue for us. We had some 8-12ft waves one night that had drawers opening and closing... we asked a couple who were staying in an aft suite how bad the ride was for them and it did not seem to be as rocky back there according to them. Just my thoughts...

It's possible she did mean 2:50am (3 hours early for a flight at about 6am, which there are always a few of).
The reason for ALL the delays at that time is very simply down to US gov't staff schedule - CBP don't let anyone through until 4:30am when they open. And of course when they DO open, there's a big queue built up they have to clear which can eat the first half-hour or more - so folks arriving three hours early for flights at 7:30 or even 8am can get caught up in that.
Exactly! LOL. We were so impressed with how efficient, streamlined, and professional it was going through the procedures in Vancouver compared to just trying to get through security in the US. And yes, it was 2:50 a.m. for a 6:10 am flight. They started boarding at 5:30 :)

Holy cow...SERIOSLY? Is this similar to our US TSA issues?
Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
Oh no, nothing like our TSA issues. Everything in Vancouver is streamlined and the lines move steadily.

My Husband and I fly from Greenville,SC to Newark to Toronto and then our final destination Vancouver before our cruise. will we hit customs in Toronto or Vancouver or both?? how long to get thru customs.?
You should go through customs in Toronto. You will probably also pick up your luggage in Toronto and re-check it through to Vancouver. Boy was that a surprise!

We sailed last week out of Vancouver on Norwegian. I was hesitant to book a round trip that included Tracy Arm rather than a one way, but it turned out to be a perfect cruise and we wouldn't have picked anything different!
-
i am a little confused...on these dailies it appears that Tracy Arms was in the early morning following Skagway yet the southbound cruise we have booked says Tracy Arms is done in the afternoon following a Juneau morning stop. Can anyone clarify? Thanks!.
We were supposed to arrive at Tracy Arm at 6:00 a.m. last week, however due to ice we had to skip it and went to Endicott Arm / Dawes Glacier instead. Sorry, not sure about Southbound, we were RT from Vancouver

I was wondering the same thing as we fly from YVR to LAX and then MSP. I was hoping that all customs and immigration would be taken care of at YVR. Thanks for the info
Just make sure to have about a 3 hour window when you arrive at YVR. We got to the airport at 2:50 a.m. and it took almost all of that to get through customs and security. Have a great trip!

When we were on the SUN last week, every time we sat down to eat, we were asked if we had any food allergies or special dietary needs. I am not sure DH even noticed but I thought it was pretty cool...

We did what the above poster suggested, and also walked through GasTown which is right there and interesting also.

Was that the northern route or southern route? If southbound can you email me at kato92@aol.com?
Sent them again from work this morning since my phone couldn't seem to get them to you over the weekend.
The file is 9MB, must have been the reason lol.

I'm sorry if my post (above) was misunderstood. I meant that if lawgirl86 isn't able to post the dailies on CC, to ask her to send them to me also.
Didn't intend to be confusing.:p
Linda
I understood Linda - You should have them, I can't get them online, thank you for your help.

I sent them to the first eight or ten people, ...hoping someone can post them so everyone can share.

I'm not sailing until June 2017, but I would love to see the dailies as well!

Questions about May
in Alaska
Posted
May was absolutely the perfect time for us. We had no fog the entire week, no rain on port days and were in short sleeves in Ketchikan and light fleece for Juneau and Skagway. There was, unfortunately, too much ice to get up Tracy Arm to Sawyer Glacier, but we had the awesome experience of seeing Dawes Glacier and Endicott Forjd instead, no complaints here. We will definitely go again mid-May.
