  1. When you book a cruise with credit card BOOM charge shows up on your card. When they cancel your cruise why isn't the credit then posted back to CC? Same holds true with FCC. I booked using EZ air with airline that I have a CC. Airline is now not showing as it appears cancelled? I just wonder.....

If your cruise cost is on your current credit card bill and you can prove you canceled cruise call your cc company and dispute the charge. My cc company removed the charged amount once they confirmed my cruise was in fact canceled and will go to bat for me directly with the cruise line. Why pay the cc charge and than wait 60 days for cruise line to issue refund?

    Or never......

I cancelled our June 2 Alaska cruise on 3/16. Two days later I received my CC bill showing the final payment to Princess dated Feb 21. My CC payment is due 4/6. I kept thinking why should I pay over $5k and than just wait 60 days to get it back. I called CC company and explained my dilemma, the rep told me that if I have canceled cruise I should dispute the payment. By doing that I will not be responsible for the payment until Princess addresses my dispute. By doing this I will maintain control over that $5k during their 60 day delay.

  3. +1

I fully agree with this statement, my financial planner called me a week ago and said my gamble on CCL failed and now was time to bail out on my 200 shares while I could get something in return. I trust his judgement, a drop this fast and a questionable short term/long term future does not bode well for CCL or the shareholder OBC.

  4. I keep seeing these posts and questions as if people are worried or not sure Princess will actually give the FCC for cancelled cruises.  Give them a bit of time.  Princess is doing their best to support customers and survive this contagion.  I trust them to do their job and what they said.  Don't you?

To be perfectly honest, in this environment no, I do not trust them! I have canceled two cruises in the past 8 days and understand the overload of cancellations they must be dealing with. But, they have been sitting on my final payments for months and I am concerned that refunds and FCC could all be a moot point if this crisis leads to their bankruptcy.

  5. The Splendor:

Is very pink. I think everybody already knows that though.... I had seen pictures and it was even more over the top than I thought. We don't much care about ship décor so it really wasn't noticeable after the first day. We went straight to our cabin to drop stuff off. We had a spa interior, #1026. This was kind of an experiment for us. Our first cruise was an interior but our last two cruises were on aft balconies. We wanted to see if we would be okay with an interior. Well, it was fine, but we immediately missed having a balcony to be able to see the weather or to catch a sunrise in our pajamas. So I guess we are officially balcony people!

The room seemed pretty good-sized for an interior room and there was plenty of storage. The desk/vanity area was large and very nice to drop all our stuff on each day. It took us a couple of days to figure out which light switch did what in the room. LOL.

Our room steward was I Made and he was very pleasant and courteous. He greeted us as we arrived and asked us to complete a little form that asked if we needed extra pillows, blankets, etc. It also said to select morning, evening, or both for service. I asked him what was the easiest for him and he laughed and said it is our vacation, we can have whatever we want. We selected morning service. We also asked for extra hangers and extra towels. These were delivered promptly and we always had extra towels every day.

I Made greeted us by name in the hallway whenever we saw him, as did his assistant. He kept our ice bucket full of fresh ice daily although we never asked for it. We are not super needy and he provided everything we could have wanted. We were happy to leave him an additional tip as a farewell thank you.

We loved having the additional spa amenities, such as bathrobes and slippers. We used these every day and DH was excited when I told him he didn't have to find room in his suitcase for slippers, LOL. We also had access to the spa area and DH used the steam rooms daily. He loved them. I am not really a spa/steam room kind of gal but I did enjoy the Thalassotherapy pool daily. Having access to the spa just a floor above us was very convenient and I think we used it a lot more than we would have if we would have had to hike across the ship.

I also used the gym almost every day between 6-8am. I am not a regular exerciser at home and I don't go to the gym. However, something about having it just a few steps away really motivated me to go work out each morning.

The gym and spa facilities were both very well used on this trip. I had read that the spa rooms are usually nearly empty but that wasn't the case for us. There were always 3-4 people in the steam rooms and the Thalasso pool, and the gym was always crowded when I went. Even during slower times of day there was always a handful of people in the gym.

I Made was our room steward on the Miracle during cruise June 2017. His service was great and he always remembered our names. During the June cruise we decided to book another the end of July same ship and itinerary. We were on the same floor forward but on the starboard side. One afternoon I walked over to port side to see if I could find I Made, he came out of cabin and saw me and called me by my name! I couldn’t believe he remembered my name 6 weeks later. We are on the Splendor in spa balcony room for a B2B in June look forward to catching up with him again if he’s not on vacation.

  6. The Splendor just transitioned from East Coast to West Coast. She just completed her first Mexican Riviera cruise, so there are not any reviews yet for this ship and itinerary. [emoji4]

I am also looking forward to hearing more! 20 days!

We have been on Splendor several times on Mexican Riviera itinerary. Loved this ship, so glad they brought it back to west coast. We are not fans of the Miracle, old ship that showed its age. Really enjoy the spa rooms and the serenity area up front. We have 3 cruises booked one with our daughter and her family including her in laws and a back to back on our own this summer. A little confused about what is going on with Splendor heard several months ago she was leaving Carnival for P&O line, than heard she is staying with Carnival. Just read post on FB that she is moving to Australia next year to replace Spirit. Carnival needs a newer big ship on West Coast similar to if not Splendor.

  7. Just returned from this cruise last weekend, both first and last sea days were on the cool side, low 60's and cloudy most of day. The other days were very nice if you enjoy hot and humid which I do. Never seen the ocean as smooth as it was on our return. Thought we were on a lake. The MDR was very cool on several evenings during early setting. We are going on the cruise again 7/29, will pack long sleeve shirts and extra pair of long pants for MDR and an extra jacket/hoody for the two cool days. We do this cruise at least twice a year and the first and last days are always a crap shoot weather wise.

  8. Just returned from Mexico Riviera cruise on Miracle. I think Carnival has reached point of diminishing returns with their wait staff in MDR. They have these men and women handling too many tables at dinner. When we would see our waiter he seemed to be in middle of a marathon race, literally out of breath from hustling between tables. Every meal we felt "rushed" during the serving process. Several nights we (wife and table mates) were in middle of or just beginning appetizers when the main course would arrive at table. We are Platinum with Carnival but have cruised on Princess the past 8 years, returning to Carnival after quite a few years the changes mentioned are noticed.

  9. Take painters tape with you. We were on Miracle in an aft extended balcony, view was fantastic but everything vibrated due to props below. We taped TV, every door in cabin along with drawers to cut down on noise. Did not fully eliminate all the noise but it was tolerable. Also, if you like the old vibrating beds you will love the aft cabin. I enjoyed it but my wife had her fill by end of cruise. On Splendor we had serious issues with ash from the funnel falling on our deck. What a mess! We just booked a cabin with the wrap around deck on Splendor, will see how that works but will still take tape with us.

  10. We are booked on 3/28 Star Princess 10 day cruise to Mexico. I have a cousin (more like a brother to me) who was recently diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. We changed our original policy with Princess to a cancel for any reason within 3 days of departure for additional $58 added to original $158 each. The policy provides 75% refund of total paid if we use it. What bothers me is the fact Princess will not refund our Future Cruise Certificate value, even though they have been sitting on that money for a year. Since I am looking at $1000 loss has anyone received refund or future cruise credit for the amount not covered by insurance? We are Platinum with Princess and I used my Delta Platinum AMEX card to purchase cruise, not sure if AMEX will cover the difference but I will be checking with them.

  11. It has been several years since we have been on same ship with Steve Moris but loved his shows and his mastery of the guitar. Fantastic performer. Carlos Oscar is a close 2nd. Both are great and we hope to see them on our Star Princess trip 3/28/17.

  12. Of our 30 plus cruises 25 have been to the Mexican Riviera with majority on Carnival and a few on Princess. The flight from Utah to/from west coast is the worse part of the trip. The only stress I felt on a cruise involved turning on my cell phone and looking at work emails. My wife grabbed the phone and headed to balcony to toss it overboard! Now that is not an issue since I have retired. No greater form of relaxation than a cruise, good book, food and entertainment with beautiful scenery thrown in too. Looking forward to Panama Canal, Transatlantic and Hawaiian cruises once my wife retires. Until then, the Mexican Riviera "floats our boat".

  13. Appreciate your review, just realized that we will be in the same cabin 6/11/16! Wish I had this info before we booked this aft cabin. On a recent Coastal cruise we had to improvise using knitting yarn to solve a noisy problem with our door to balcony on the Crown Princess. To our surprise it worked. Guess we will pack duct tape and other noise dampers for the trip. At least I can show my wife pictures of our cabin. Thanks again!

  14. We sailed on the Grand in a mini suite June 2013 to Alaska. The first night out of SFO was very rough, I slept but my wife was awake all night. Disappointed in condition of our balcony falling apart and needed to be cleaned. Surprisingly we spent quite a bit of time on the balcony as we left Ketchikan temps in high 60's. I felt the ship lacked the extras found on the Crown or Sapphire, such as no thermal suites. The Grand would not be my first choice.

  15. Thanks for the greetings. Most of our cruising has been with Carnival to Mexican Riviera (25 and counting). Has been a nice getaway from the winters in Utah. Changed to Princess full time several years ago when Carnival pulled the Splendor from the west coast. Really enjoy Princess and the atmosphere/fellow cruisers on each ship.

  16. Just set up cruise critic info today. My wife and I have cruised Carnival & Princess a total of 33 times. Going on California Coastal out of San Pedro on 3/26. I retired May 2015 and my wife will retire 2020. I heard about Cruise Critic on our last cruise and thought I would give it a try.
