  1. Just off the Conquest last week, and my biggest complaint is the bar service at the tables and slots.

After waiting 30 minutes to order a drink, I had to wait another 30 minutes to have it delivered!

    This is just plain unacceptable!

Reading these boards, I noticed more than my complaint about this on other ships.

How many out there have had the same problem?

Its called Cutbacks. Fewer servers now on all ships.

  2. I don't know about others, but half the fun for me is all the planning leading up to my cruise. OK ...we maybe not half the fun but I love the anticipation and planning. The light at the end of the tunnel what gets me through my grueling workdays. After particularly rough days, I always come home and research pics of the ship, read the reviews, research the ports and generally dream and scheme about my next adventure.

I am, however experiencing a bit of a lull this time around. You see, I am cruising on my Favorite ship, the beautiful Carnival Miracle, in 100 days. I am totally excited to spend some quality time aboard but I am intimately familiar with her and don't really need to research the ship. On past cruises, I did TONS of research on PV and Cabo excursions and areas. So what do I have left to do to lift me up after a grueling day at work?

I have started a FB page for my sailing in the effort to drum up the excitement and keep me busy planning activities and such. However so far we only have three members (including myself) and a guy who keeps trolling the group with naked Gumby (complete with private parts) pictures. The roll call for the group is pretty quiet as well.

    Any suggestions?

  3. I'm not a huge gambler, but I figure we will make a trip to the casino at some point during the trip. Does anyone have any tips for getting the most bang for your buck here? Promos? Are there Slot Tournaments? If so, how much is the entry fee?

Also, I saw an old posting about a $5 match play offer they used to have with purchase of classic cocktails. Is this still available?

    Thanks!

Bet max on slots. Anything less is a waste of time.

  4. My question is about rates (non-suite/non four or five star Mariner passage) to the Thalassotherapy Pool and Thermal Suites. I've been quoted $349.00 per couple/10 day voyage. I understand these passes are numbered per voyage.

The itinerary for this voyage is port intensive, 7 non-tendered ports and three sea days. Would it be to our advantage (price wise) to book once onboard and chance there would be passes available or go ahead and purchase now via ship services? Many thanks in advance for the experienced input from the many HAL cruisers.

Can not prepay. Book on ship only

  5. Hi everyone

I am going on the Magic in October. I booked this cruise about 1 month ago and tried to get FTTF and it said it was sold out. Does anyone know if they open it back up or offer more tickets as the cruise time gets closer?

You got to get it! Front of all lines is great.

  6. From the Carnival website: Please note, effective for all cruises departing on or after September 1, 2016, the recommended gratuities amount will increase from $12.00 USD to $12.95 USD per person, per day for guests in standard stateroom accommodations and to $13.95 USD per person, per day for guests booked in suites.

Looks like everyone is getting a raise.:)

No one getting a raise except a bonus for Arnold

  7. We have countless threads going about budget cuts at Carnival. Many people who are platinum or diamond or maybe even close to it, don't want to cruise with a different line because they would lose these benefits.

If Carnival Corporation were to offer one loyalty program, they could maintain these guests who might go elsewhere and are willing to go elsewhere despite losing their status. Let's say Carnival's VIFP and Princess' Captains and all the other subsidiary programs were merged. If Carnival is no longer for you, but you kept your same status, you may be more inclined to use Princess than RCCL.

Granted not everyone cares about their status, but I am sure its a deciding factor for many people. If you are Diamond on Carnival and could transfer that to Princess, thats a lot more appealing than starting from 0 cruises on RCCL.

Insert the comments of this has been discussed before...

Carnival id a bargain at best cruise line. The others have better perks for more money. Never happen!

  8. Not much doubt about that. The electric motors on the ramp are designed to either electrically overload or break driveshaft shear pins when an obstruction is encountered. There isn't any way the ramp could have exerted enough force to tip itself over.

The boys forgot to close the door on side of the boat. 100% captains fault.

  9. Many people here claim that they are okay with cost cutting because they want the lowest possible cruise fare.

What services or amenities would you be alright with being removed in order to reduce the cruise fare portion by 5% to 10%? This assumes you stay in the same category of room you selected and not "trade down" like from a balcony to an interior.

So all things being equal, what would you be alright with Carnival removing or rounding the edges off of in order to reduce your fare price?

I'd be OK with less TV channels and reducing the pizza place from 24 hours to 16 hours. Not sure that would get a 5% reduction in fare, but those are areas I'd be okay with some minor cutbacks if I could save some money.

Fire Heald let the beggars buy their own berries.

  10. Considering the ship made about 22 knots getting back from Cozumel to Galveston (22.5 is rated top speed), I would say the propulsion problem was repaired.

Thrusters are the problem. Running into other boats is not repaired.

  11. I am writing on behalf of family members who had a HORRIBLE time on the splendor.

they were on deck 6 just above the theatre.

The ship is under major construction, including the theatre. There was drilling, banging, crashing, and destruction ALL NIGHT LONG, for all 7 nights.

They could not sleep at all.

They begged to change cabins, but there were no available.

Carnival offered then 30% off of their cruise fare, but I do not think that is acceptable, they were not able to enjoy their cruise at all.

On top of it all, one person got food poisoning from a veggie burger.

Anyone know how to proceed? These are people who scrimp and save an entire year to go on 1 cruise, and it was such a disaster.

    TIA!

Most here will tell you any day on a cruise is better than? Blinded by the drink.

  12. I am wondering if the cruise lines actually inspect our Handbags and carry on bags at all? I need to take a special power outlet tower with me so I can charge my phone, as I don't have a normal cord for it, I lost it:rolleyes:, lol. I am worried they will confiscate my tower and it cost me a fair bit, so I don't want them to lose it!

I don't want to lose my rum runners or fan. Put locks on and all is good.

  13. Especially the sides and desserts?? I go at least once every cruise, and have since it was introduced as "The Supper Club" and I love the experience but I've really tired of the menu.

As a whole the menu has seen little to no change since it was introduced. One change I remember is the removal of the fan favorite porterhouse steak. If anyone remembers any others, please let me know!

I would love to see new side dishes such as potatoes au gratin, lobster macaroni and cheese, sweet potato soufflé, maybe some asparagus? And the desserts...the cheesecake is big and not much else. The chocolate sampler is great and don't want to see it go but please, some variety! Would love a bread pudding, some mousse, creme brulee, some kind of cake, anything to change it up a bit.

They change the Chef's Table all the time. Why not the Steakhouse?

    Remove all beef. Serve fish.
