  1. Wow, we just sailed on Voyager a few weeks ago & had the opposite experience.

I found the crew were always acknowledging us as we passed by them in the halls on the cabin decks as well as in the public spaces. The senior staff & regular crew all acted the same in our experience.

Sorry to hear your experience was so different but after having sailed with Royal on 3 different ships including Radiance, I can't say I have noticed any major difference in the crew civility towards us.

I have noticed a lack of civility with some passengers though & did think our latest Voyager cruise had a demographic with a greater number of ...how can I put it, less than genteel people, than our other Royal cruises.

Your example of people fighting over who was next at the bar is a classic example, you can be annoyed but should always act civil.

I don't know how the crew manage to bite their tongues sometimes, some of the passengers can be so re rude & ignorant - not a good combination.

If you do sail Royal again I hope you have a better experience. :)

It was only a small percentage of crew that we noticed this.

Like I said we still had a great time and to pros far outweighed the cons.

Yes there'll always be obnoxious guests giving crew a hard time. Quite sad really when the crew spend so long at sea away from their families. I don't know how they put up with it.

Anyway we've booked a cruise on Harmony of the Seas next year so we're looking forward to that.

  2. C'mon guys and girls. You're all on holiday.

We're quite firm about soft drinks at home with our kids. We'll get a 1.25 bottle or 2 with the shopping but that's it. Once it's gone it's gone. No more during the week until next shop.

We got our young teens the bubbles package. Just remember it includes juices also. Let loose the rope a little. You're all on board to have fun.

The first day or two the kids probably will consume a bit too much soft drink but believe me they will back off. And, if they're hanging out at kids club all the time they're too busy to be making constant visits to the bars for cokes. On our last trip our 14 year old son probably only just broke even on value as he was flat out having fun. But we didn't have to worry about it. The bubbles package isn't too bad for kids.

    Have fun.

  3. Just came back from a South Pacific Cruise on Voyager (not to Fiji).

We enjoyed our holiday but were quite disappointed with some of the crew.

Bars were understaffed eg. where some lines had 5-6 staff for popular bars Voyager only had 3 and sometimes 2. The result, is apart from long wait times for a drink, unhappy and overworked bar staff as well as a few arguments between patrons as to who was next. Which proves to be quite uncomfortable for spectators.

Also, while walking through the royal promenade, on more than one occasion we actually had to stop to avoid bumping into ship management (all white uniforms) while they casually passed in front of us, without so much as an acknowledgement for giving way to them as they strolled through. On other lines all staff, no matter how senior, would always stop for a guest to pass as well as saying "hello" and possibly even enquire as to how your experience was going.

We went to the 'next cruise' area to enquire about booking an Eastern Caribbean Cruise next year. Let me just say after 15 min and struggling to hold my tongue we walked away from the rude young Portuguese lady.

The facilities on board were great. Our steward was great and our waiters were great. Basically those working for your tips are great.

We did meet a lady on board that had just sailed on Radiance. She'd noticed issues with the crew on Voyager as well and told us that the Radiance crew were far far better.

We've sailed Carnival twice previously and agreed that if the Carnival Legend or Spirit crews operated the Voyager it would be the ultimate holiday.

Anyway we booked with another agent for a Harmony cruise next year. So time will tell. Can't wait.
