  1. When I went into a reservation to add a cruise next to an existing reservation, under my cruise next there is a “Your Welcome Back $100 off Coupon”. Says I have to use by March 25, 2024, and travel by January 2026. I do not see it under My NCL, only when I go to make a payment. Anyone else have this?

  2. I am cruising with my mom who is gold and my son who is still considered a child. I am platinum. We are at 125 days and the app is telling me I can’t make reservations for 5 more days. My mom made the reservation so her name is first. Does the system go by the first name on the reservation?  I really don’t want to call. Ugh

  3. We just got off the Escape. Each night we would go to Tobacco Road which is next to Syd’s and sit with a cocktail and watch for a line to form. Then we would get in line once someone started a line. I think the longest I stood was 15 or 20 minutes. They opened the doors 45 minutes to an hour before the show depending on the rehearsal. After dinner we would find a place to sit with a drink anyway so it may as well be in Syd’s!

     

    We also heard the Rock of Ages explanation from an NCL employee who was watching the door while we waited.

  4. Thank you for the response. We are platinum so I know how the NCL website works. We know that we love St Thomas so when cruising the Caribbean I seek out itineraries that include it. I know in Alaska to look for Glacier Bay. This is more what I am asking. Which ports do people not want to miss. 

  5. We are considering a cruise for our anniversary in 2025. One itinerary we are interested in is Norway, Finland, or Iceland but we know nothing about the ports to look for. It is my understanding that smaller ships can reach more places but I don’t know what specific ports to look for. I would appreciate any help/suggestions. We are more interested in the ports than the ship. Thanks!

  6. We are currently in an oceanview on the escape. We were told only balcony and above can get coffee makers on request. There was some kind of manager walking around introducing himself and asking if we needed anything. He called housekeeping for us and was told the same. 

  7. I just booked the Escape for January so of course there are no dining reservations available before 9 pm. Food Republic says “please book onboard” rather than “not available to book” like some of the others. Were you able to pre book Food Republic or did you have to book that once on board. I am planning on getting on as early as possible (we are platinum) and I am hoping at least that restaurant will have some decent options. Le Bistro is my favorite but I’m not counting on reservations being available.

  9. I just wish they would drop the 4 month requirement like they did a few months ago. I would book a January cruise today. 
     

    I have two deposits that are supposed to expire in October 2024 that I have been trying to figure out how to use. Do they really not expire any more?

  10. On every cruise I have been on including the Getaway in January if I was in airplane mode on my iPhone and connected to the ship wifi but not logged onto the internet plan I could always receive iMessages only. I imessaged with my kids on the ship and they had no internet package. 

     

    BUT I was on the 3/12 Encore and in the same situation (iPhone in airplane mode, connected to ship wifi but had not redeemed my internet package yet) and I was reviewing sms text messages from androids. I have a group text with iPhones and androids. On the Getaway I could not see those texts until I was in St Thomas and turned off airplane mode. On the Encore a few weeks ago I was getting them on the ship. I was really surprised and have no idea why it was working. 

  11. I get carsick and was really worried the first time I cruised. I take generic chewable Bonine. I buy it on Amazon. I start taking one the night before I get on the ship and then one every morning and evening. As long as I keep taking them I’m good. If I forget once I feel sick and can’t get back to feeling good until I can get off in port. It has worked for me in really rough seas. We were on the Dawn several years ago and I don’t remember how high the waves were but it was bad enough that people were getting sick in public places. I will never forget the lady sitting on the side of the pool holding a puke bag. So gross. Anyway I was fine. Couldn’t believe it!

  12. We have never not had iMessage work for us but YMMV. 
     

    I am in a group text that includes 2 androids. I did not receive any of those texts, even from iphone users in that group text. If the iPhones texted me individually I could see it. 
     

    On our Getaway cruise last month we also got notifications when our garage door opened or closed.  The app we use for that is myQ. We were logged into the ship wifi to use the NCL app but not logged into our minutes. 

  13. We are a family of 5 (3 teens, husband and myself) in 2 cabins on the Encore next month. 4 of us each have 2 specialty dining credits. We have cruised before with people in other cabins and at dinner they just ask for one card per cabin. Since we have 3 in one cabin will they ask specifically who is who for using the dining credits?  I just realized that my 17 yo son is the odd man out. Of course he eats more than seems humanly possible. We looked at the menus and my daughter who is in the same cabin as him only wants a pizza at Onda. Will they let me switch the two kids?  Or will the servers even care?  I would much rather just pay for her pizza than all of the food my son will want to order. I know that buying him a specialty dinner package is an option but again just paying for the pizza is way better. 

  14. Your cabin number should be on the tags. When I tried to print them from my phone for my last cruise the file was separated into 2 for some reason. The generic part was going to print on one page and the cruise specific part (date and cabin) was going to print on a second page. It was a formatting issue I guess? They printed correctly from my desktop. Maybe something like that happened to you?

    I kind of assumed we would be sick when we got back but both of us feel great. I didn’t really notice a lot of coughing on the cruise. Maybe a little more the last few days. Only heard one person with a cough that sounded terrible when I was sitting on the top sun deck. 

  16. We went to Syd’s last night and they were great!  We sat at the Sunset Bar next door at about 730 and there were 4 people lined up already. They opened the doors a few minutes before 8 for a 9 pm show. Our plan was to get in line if the line grew. When they opened the doors  we went right in and got a seat easily. It did fill up. I imagine more people will be there for the next shows. 
     

    if anyone is wondering the Wines Around the World tasting is today (day 4) at 230 in Cagney’s.

    We plan on getting in line tomorrow night. We heard them rehearsing today when we walked by!  I was so disappointed when we thought they wouldn’t be playing.

  18. I am on this cruise too. According to the entertainment info on the television Syd’s will have the band this week. First show is supposed to be tomorrow.  It is also showing under entertainment in the app now. It was gone as of a few days ago. Fingers crossed this isn’t a glitch and they really are on the ship!

  19. I am on this cruise. Neither my husband nor I have received an email about the change. We booked directly through NCL. No email in spam, junk, etc. In fact I received an updated Cruise Confirmation email this afternoon reflecting a change in airport transfers that still has the original itinerary at the bottom of the email.  The PDF is dated today!  The cruise still has Dominican Republic in the title of the cruise. The original itinerary shows up in the app under My Plans. They are still selling it as going there. 
     

    I just wish they were replacing it rather than making it a sea day. We already had 4.5 sea days.
