In my cruise research, I went to Saga’s web site and researched some cruises — both ocean and river. Following the online booking, I came upon the requirement that guests be UK  residents with a UK passport. We are not. We are US residents with US passports. So I ask, would we be allowed to cruise Saga?

Yes you would. I live in Australia, having emigrated from the UK. We have booked a Saga ocean cruise in June, since we will be in the UK visiting family.

As others have said, we do not get the benefit of the included insurance as we are non-resident but got a very small credit for that element. We have taken out our own separate insurance. I booked by telephone 😊👍

I still have a UK passport but am using my Australian passport for the cruise because the UK one doesn't have 6 months validity left on it, so I don't think that it would matter if you are not a UK citizen.

Thanks for that, I had seen it priced on the websites for 500 krona, which has you say is around £35.

I am interested if the Saga included Bus Tour will worth doing but if we decide to do the train will book direct.

You will need to book fast. We are on the June Norwegian Fjords cruise and I booked direct about a month ago. The two departures after the ship docked were already booked then.....

  3. Hi all,

We are in Flam on the Spirit of Adventure on 29 June 24 docking at 11am and leaving at 10pm. We are tendering.

I've just checked Norway's Best and the train departures at 13.30 and 14.55 are already sold out.

There is a departure at 12.10 but we're travelling with my 87 year old MIL so won't be able to move very fast!

I'm thinking it would be a bit risky to go for the 12.10. Would you folks agree?

The remaining departures are at 16.15, 17.30 and 18.45. Does anyone have any input on which one might be best?! I note the sun doesn't set until 23.00....

    Thanks 🙏

  4. Hi all

We are docked in Naples on Saturday 20 October 2018 and plan to go to Pompeii on our own by bus or train. I would hope that we will be at Pompeii by 10.30am at the latest. Our ship doesn't depart until 7pm so we have plenty of time.

Do you think it would be advisable to buy tickets online in advance or is there unlikely to be much of a queue at the site that time of year?

    Thanks a lot

  5. Thank you for reply! I am driving to Orvieto. Would like to rent car before I leave. Hoping somebody knows the name of that particular car rental agency you speak of one block from the entrance. Thank you for any info!

We have booked a car from Hertz in Civitavecchia in October 2018. We arrive on a Sunday but they are open between 8am and 11am on Sundays. If you Google it, their office doesn't look far from the port. At least I hope it isn't too far!!

  6. Thank you for the link. I checked it out and read the review on Trip Advisor. They certainly get good reviews.

Which of the tours did you book? I think we would like to do the highlights of Rome on our own. However, the "Back Streets of Rome tour sounds like it would be great on Day 3 to take us to some of the places we missed or had never even heard of before. :D

edit: I see from your previous post that you are visiting Rome in September. Would you please report back on your experience? TIA

We are doing a combination of the basic 1/2 day tour and tucked away sites tour, lasting 6 hours. Will try to remember to come back and let you know how we go:)

  7. Hi, I havent read all the posts but I wanted to respond to yours. We did the golf cart tour last year. It was awful and honestly dangerous. They took us on main streets, no side streets, no quaint shops or restaurants. No one on the tour, which were 8 of us liked it. And I can honestly say that I have never been unhappy with a tour I have read and researched on CC before and after. Usually the guides are excellent and witty, sadly the one we had just told us information like she was reading it from a book. I hope, if you have already booked it, or already did the tour that it was excellent and that my experience was a fluke.

Can you remember which company you used as we have booked a golf cart tour with my mother in law in September 2018:o:o. I found several different ones when I was doing my research....
