The QM2 is in Reykjavik today and tomorrow on its maiden visit. The sun has finally come out to welcome us and it’s a lovely evening here now. Departing earlier than planned for Corner Brook, Newfoundland tomorrow due to icebergs on our original route. The picture below is taken from the top of Reykjavik Cathedral.

We visited Keukenhof on a P&O organised tour from the Azura in April 2016. Very impressive it was too!

My mistake. I've just been reminded that it was his morning message not a lunchtime one!
We're loving reading your blog rakkor! I keep asking any tall person I see around the ship if they are you... but no luck so far!

Perhaps those on board the current Queen Elizabeth on the anniversary can tell us whether it gets a mention.
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you but having such a good time here on the Queen Elizabeth I forgot to post!
The Captain did mention the anniversary in his noon day announcement and this morning here in Cadiz he has even mentioned that today is Trafalgar Day.
I have been very impressed with Captain Aseem Hashmi, first time I have come across him and he is very personable and visible around the ship.

I was very impressed with the hire service onboard the QM2.
First transatlantic... very excited... really looking forward to it. Just boarded and was sat having a nice drink when I suddenly realised that I hadn't packed my dress shirts! Panic! :)
As soon as we sailed I went to the shop and asked if they had a shirt to buy. Unfortunately I am not the easiest of sizes being 6' 5" with a 19.5" neck size! As I suspected they didn't have one however after a lot of searching they did find a 19" which was available to hire. The hire charge for a dress shirt is $26 a day and I was going to be onboard for 20 nights! $520!!! However there was nothing for it and to avoid losing it I agreed to take the shirt for the 20 nights.
I think that the shop staff must have felt sorry for me as when I went to pay for the shirt they decided to only charge me for one nights hire!
I was extremely grateful!

We'll be on board on the 16th October and the Queen Elizabeth will be in Katakolon.
I'll let you know if anything is said...

Apologies as I am sure this must have been asked before but I can't find it.
Does anyone know exactly which Britannia staterooms have been refurbished?
I heard conflicting reports prior to re-mastering that it was only going to be Britannia Club, then I heard it was going to be all upper decks (8 and above) with Decks 4, 5 and 6 following later.
Does anyone know for sure please?
I am currently sat in a Stateroom on deck 4 and I can confirm that it has been remastered complete with flat screen TV, kettle and very nice new carpets!
We too believed that deck 4 was going to be done later in the year and were very pleasantly surprised when we got on board.

Thanks for that. It's not such a short cruise for us as we are doing the transatlantic before and after too.
The HoHo bus sounds like it might be a good option. They're still showing repeats of 'Cheers' over here and I was a huge fan first time around so wouldn't mind seeing the bar that was used for the outside shots.

CruiseCal.com has us arriving in Boston at 12.00 midday on the 4th July and leaving at 01.00 on the 5th July
We were thinking of doing the Freedom Trail during the afternoon and being back on board hoping to be able to see the fireworks in the evening.

First time in Boston and really looking forward to it!

The Ventura did have cafetieres in its maiden season but they were removed when they found that, after washing them out, the coffee grains were clogging up the pipes!
Internet reception on QM2 transatlantic
in Cunard Line

I am posting this from my cabin on the QM2, currently in the North Atlantic, and I have had no problems at all connecting throughout the whole of the trip so far. Reasonable speed for a ship and certainly good enough for iMessage or emails although my preferred messaging has been through WhatsApp which has allowed pictures to be shared with no problems at all.
